Chapter Seventeen

Knowing All About Azhar Muhsin, Zianna's boss.

After the office incident, when Zianna got back to the house, she was met by one angry woman namely; Nadia who was waiting for her in the living room.

"So thats what you do at the office? Flirting with your boss..."

"I..wasn't flirting with him, ma'am..."

Zianna didn't even finish what she was saying when Nadia got up from her seat and slapped her.

"Never talk back to me again! Do you understand?" Nadia asks, forcefully grabbing Zianna's chin while her long nails pierce her skin." The next time I hear from Rania that you and your boss are in a relationship, I will personally have you fired and you will never work anywhere ever again. Do you understand?" she added releasing her grip.

"Yes, Ma'am."

Zianna nodded.

"You can go now and make dinner before Nour comes back from college. She will be hungry and I dont want my daughter to starve because of your incompetence," Nadia says.

Zianna walked out of the living room and headed to her room. First, she needed to quickly freshen up after that she needed to take her medication.

After doing all that, Zianna walked into the kitchen and started cooking dinner even though sometimes Nour comes home later than she is required to and Nadia makes her reheat the food again.

Zianna remembered what her mamma always told her about having patience.

Patience is a virtue that isn't meant for everyone. Only a few people will know what it truly means to have it. Patience is like walking on hot coal with a smile on your face. But at the end of all, being patient has great rewards, and the pain you feel will be worth it.

Tears welled up in Zianna's eyes, making it hard for her to see, as salty droplets flowed down her cheeks. She struggled to control her overwhelming emotions, her chest rising and falling with deep, sorrowful sobs. She thought of how she had lived before with her mother. It was peaceful and happy.

Zianna didn't even hear her brother come into the kitchen, all she felt was someone hugging and relaxing knowing that it was him. This made her cry even more. At least she has someone who cares for her but for how long will he care? Maybe until he gets married and moves out with his wife?

"Shh, Zian. Its okay. I am right here. You can cry as much as you want dear sister. Don't keep everything inside, talk to me and if you cant, you can always talk to Zoya. You have me and her in your life, " Tayyal says soothing his sister.

Zianna's tears spoke volumes, revealing a level of emotion that words simply couldn't convey. Her sobs echoed through the air, a powerful reminder of her inner pain and heartache. Despite the ongoing tears, Zianna discovered solace in hugging her brother and in letting her emotions out, choosing to be vulnerable and open amid profound grief.

Tayyal knew that his sister would need him now more than ever because of her medical condition.

According to the doctor, she will need a heart transplant in a few months otherwise Zianna would be too weak for her to go through it.

"But let me remind you that she can't take you away from me, okay?" he added trying to make her laugh.

As soon as Tayyal saw the bruise forming on his sister's chin, he immediately knew that his mother was the one who hurt her even though Zianna didnt want to say anything about it. Tayyal knew that his mother would mistreat her whenever he wasn't home.

He has seen some bruises that his mother would leave on her skin, and even though Zianna tries to hide them from him, he still sees them.

Tayyal wanted to confront his mother but knew that if he did that, Zianna would suffer from the consequences of his actions.

"Thank you and don't worry about Zoya stealing me. Even though I can't say the same about me stealing her from you," Zianna says with a small smile.

"Then I will be the happiest big brother and husband in the world. Because my sister and wife are best friends," he said with a huge smile.

Tayyal just shook his head and hugged her one last time before kissing her forehead as he normally did when Zianna would cry in his arms.

"What can I do to help you in the kitchen?" Tayyal asks looking around. Before Zianna could say anything, " Mum is in her room talking to her friends and that means she takes more than one hour to come out of her room," he added knowing what was worrying Zianna.

"Okay but first, go and wash your hands. Then cut the veggies into cubes and boil some water for the pasta," Zianna says instructing her brother who saluted her.

"Aye, Aye. Chef Zianna."

Zianna just shook her head at how Tayyal was acting just to cheer her.

Alhamdulilah, I have found a brother in this family and soon I will have a sister-in-law. May Allah bless you and your wife in shaa Allah. Thank you for being there whenever I needed you.

Tay started chopping the veggies according to how Zianna had instructed him. But when it came to chopping carrots, he looked at his sister hoping that she could help him.

"Um...Zian, could please chop this? I have peeled them but the size of cubes is..."

"Here, let me show you," Zianna says taking the knife from her brother and explaining what size the carrots can be chopped. "You can chop them into any size, Tay. After adding them to the pasta, they will eventually reduce size while they cook," she added smiling.

After the siblings finished cooking dinner, Tayyal retreated to his bedroom to freshen up while Zianna started arranging the dining table as Nadia had requested her.

Alhamdulilah, Tayyal wasn't seen by his mother otherwise, I would have been in big trouble for making her son help in the kitchen.

As usual, Zianna walked into her room while Hussein and his family were having dinner. This was the rule that Nadia had forced on her when she arrived at the house.

But she was required to help the maids to cook the meals.

In her room, Zianna started looking at her bucket list. She looked at number 21 which says; make someone smile.

"I did make a lot of people smile, including my boss and he has changed now..."

"Do I have to talk to your boss about that?" A voice asked her.

Zianna turned around to see that it was none other than her older brother Tay holding two plates of food.

"You scared me, Tay. What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be having dinner with your parents and sister?..."

"I wanted a change so I came to have dinner with my sister Zian. I need something positive in my life and you are one of the two people in my life that are positive," Tay says taking a seat in one of the worn-out chairs.

"Tay, that chair is wobbly. Seat here," Zianna says pointing at her bed. "I don't want you to fall and I dont want to be scolded by her," she says adding the last part to herself.

Tayyal pretended not to hear her and sat beside her on the bed.

"Okay, go wash your hands and let's have dinner while you tell me all about your grumpy boss," Tay says to her. "And dont worry, you can rant about him to me and I would say anything to anyone," he added promising her.

Zianna walked into her small bathroom and washed her hands. She went back to her room and her brother handed her the plate of food.

"Okay, now start talking, Zian. What is your boss's name and everything you want to tell me. Go ahead."

Zianna told him what her boss's name was and immediately Tayyal knew who she was talking about. He remembered the dinner that his father hosted and invited a father and son.

"His name is Azhar Muhsin. He used to be grumpy but nowadays he has changed. I dont know what happened but now he has started to smile more. And he even started calling me by my first name," Zianna explained to her brother.

Maybe Aayan and Azaan Muhsin are his older brother and father. I will need more information and I know that Zian doesn't know much about him.

"Is he single?" Tayyal asks.

"How I am supposed to know that, Tay?"

"If he has pictures of his family in his office that includes his wife and kids or maybe a fiancee?"

Zianna couldn't believe what her brother was asking her about her boss.

"Why don't you go and ask him yourself? I am just his assistant, Tay. Whatever you are you planning, stop. We are two worlds apart and I doubt his family will accept someone like me..."

"Why wouldnt they? You have an amazing personality. You are unique, Zian. Zoya would ask about you every day when she would call. And I am not saying this just because I am your brother but as someone who knows you. You have the purest and kindest heart that I know. And I am glad to have you as one of my sisters," Tayyal says interrupting her.

"Thank you but I think you should concerntrate on your wedding with Zoya than my none existing love life. I will be content to see you married and happy, Tay. Thats all that matters to me."

Zianna continued eating her food and she didnt even notice Tayyal taking her phone and taking Azhar's number from it.

I need to do this Zian. Because I know that if I leave this house, things might get worse for you, especially with Mum. And she will never agree to come and live with me and Zoya. The only option I have is to talk to Azhar and explain everything. I am sure that he will help to know who his mother is. My primary school teacher Mrs. Hayat Ali. I will never forget her as she taught us that kindness is the way to go even if someone has hurt you.

Help comes in many types or forms. It can be someone close to you or someone far from you. Accept it, no matter what.
