Chapter Forty-Six

The Unknown Becomes Known{Part One}

Unknown's POV.

No one knows what I did almost ten years ago. I wish I could turn back the time and save that woman. What I didnt tell Nadia was the fact that I took a video of her giving me instructions to kill that woman and her daughter.

I was thankful that the daughter survived but that was also a bad thing because Nadia still hurt her without feeling anything.

Even if she is a mother herself, she still hurts someone's child.

"Dad, are you okay?" My daughter asked me.

I don't know what to do except leave this town and move away, but what about my daughter and grandchild? Plus Nadia has something against me, I need to get back before it comes out and ruins everything I have worked hard for.

"I will be, habibty. But I need you to stay safe and be careful when you are in your Aunt Nadia's house..."

"Dad, whats wrong? Please tell me the truth. Aunt Nadia is my mother-in-law and I know that she has hurt Zianna ever since she came to live in their house. I love my husband but dont tell me to be careful when I got to my mother-in-law's house without a proper explanation," Zoya said. "I need you to be truthful about what is going on with you and Aunt Nadia. What is wrong?" she asked hoping I would tell her the truth.

But the truth is I couldn't tell her, that her mother's death was mine and Nadia's fault because of the mistakes we made when Hussein was on a business trip.

The mistake that formed a child, Nadia passed it off as her husband's.

"Nadia and I have a past, Zoya. And I am not proud of it," I try to explain to my daughter that she might have a sister. I will tell you everything, but promise me will keep this a secret because I am not ready for it to come out," I add.

I took a deep breath and started explaining to Zoya everything that occurred a few years ago.

Flashback.

"He is gone and this time it will be more than two months. How will I manage being alone with two kids?" Nadia asked with tears in her eyes.

I moved closer to her and held her in my arms even though it wasn't allowed in our religion. I had a wife, a daughter and another child on the way.

Here I am holding my best friend's wife in my arms and comforting her even though it isn't right.

"Nadia, I am here. Don't worry about it. Whenever you need me, I will be one call away and you know that, right?"

"Yes, I do but remember, you also have a wife and children too," Nadia said, removing herself from my arms. "I don't want to take you away from her just because my husband is going to a business conference and then he will be visiting his parents," she added, wiping the tears.

She was right but I couldn't think about anything or anyone at this moment.

I met Nadia when Hussein and I were in college, she was one of those liberal Muslim girls who would do anything and not get into trouble with their family.

I started to have feelings for her, but in the end, she chose Hussein, and I had to let her go.

I watched as my best friend married the woman that I loved and had a family with her.

When I married my wife, I loved her, but not the way that I loved Nadia. I had a daughter, and now I am going astray just because I held the woman I loved in my arms.

"I need to go, but don't hesitate to call me if you need anything," I told her, trying to leave before we did something we would both regret.

"Please don't go...I need you," she pleaded, tears falling from her face. "Please don't leave me like Hussein has been doing," she added holding my hand.

"I...I can't stay, Nadia. I am a married man and so are you," I said trying to reason with her but she didn't care all she wanted was me by her side.

"Please, Qassim. Just for one night. I will personally call your wife and explain to her everything. Please just for one night. You will sleep in the guest room," she said.

I didnt want to leave my pregnant wife and our seven-year-old daughter alone at home. But something was telling me to stay with her.

"No, I will explain to her myself," I said taking my phone and started calling my wife who answered on the first ring. "Asalam Aleikum, Habibty. I am at Hussein's place. I will be staying here because we need to get things done. Yes, I will call you in the morning. I love you and Zoya. Take care of yourself," I told her.

After the phone call, Nadia led me to the guest room where I would sleep for the night.

"Thank you for staying..."

"You are welcome. And its my duty as Hussein's best friend to make sure his family is well taken care of," I tell her.

She nodded and walked out of the room.

After a few days, Nadia would come up with excuses for me to stay with her whenever Hussein was out of town. But the last straw was when she walked into my room as I just started changing.

"Nadia, this isnt appropriate...You need to leave before anything happens," I tried telling her but she didnt listen.

Nadia continued to approach me and did something that I would later realize would result in a full-blown affair.

End Of flashback.

The look on my daughter's face was something that no father would want to see especially after the revelation I just told her.

"Dad, how could you? Did mum know about this?" Zoya asked, trying to stay calm. "The day mum died were you with her?" she added, tears pouring from her eyes.

"Yes, your mother found us in bed together. She ran out of the house and got into the car when she was about 6 months pregnant. I ran after her but unfortunately I couldnt catch up to her," I explained. "She got into any accident and died along with your baby brother," I added.

"You said you have a baby with Aunt Nadia. Who is it? Is it Tay...?"

"No, it isnt. Its Dalia. She is your sister. The baby I had with Nadia. I know that I am not a good muslim..."

"How could you, Dad? How could you do this to our family? I lost my mother because of her and you kept quiet all this time, why?" Zoya yells.

"I...I am sorry for everything, Zoya..."

"No, dad. I will never forgive you for everything you did to our family. You and Nadia killed my mother and my unborn baby brother. I dont think I want to see you again..."

"Don't say that, Zoya. You are still my daughter..."

"Unfortunately, I can't change that. You ruined two families. You could have asked mum for divorce and Nadia could have done the same but no, you wanted to have an affair. I have one question to ask you, dad? And I want you to answer me truthfully," she said.

"Yes, ask me what do you want to ask me?"

"Did have anything to do with Uncle Hussein's accident a few weeks back?" she asked.

"Yes, I did. But I walked away from that. Nadia sent someone else to do it. I saw you there, my daughter. I couldn't do it. But someone else did it," I explained to her.

"Who is it? Do you know who that person is? Will tell me who that person is or will keep that for yourself?" She asked, angrily. "Who is it?"
