She fell to her knees, frantically picking up the broken fragments of her fragile heart that she had taken out of the cage that held it back. The sharp pieces cut her hands and the salty tears fell from her eyes. She couldnt blame him, it wasnt really his fault. Shed let it slip out of her hands onto the cold floor. The cuts on her hands stung as her tears fell upon them. The pain that she felt now wasnt anything like the pain that emerged after he uttered the words, "Im sorry."
Each time she brandished her heart for another she had come to regret doing so. But none had ever broken her or made her feel anything close to what she felt now. There wasnt anything she could do and she couldnt hate him either. It wasnt his intention to. There was no hate she felt towards him, only acceptance of the fact that no matter how hard she tries she will end up alone. Then why should she even try to piece her heart back together again. The past had taught her that her feelings were better left unspoken. Even if they were uttered there was and would be no one to accept them, to accept her. She no longer wanted her happiness to be at the mercy of another anymore. How could she have ever thought he cared for her the way she did for him. Nobody does. Nobody will. Shes better off alone..
