Wounded but Determined
Disclaimer: I own nothing, Rick Riordan does. Also please tell me how the first chapter was, it wasn't the best that I know. But I do want to improve my writing skills further.
Percy's POV:
I slowly came to consciousness, and felt a cold bandage over my face. I reached up and gently felt the soft fabric as I was reminded of what exactly happened. I sighed silently as a door opened nearby and two sets of footsteps made their way towards me.
"Boy, are you awake?" A rough voiced man said and I nodded my head, albite with extreme pain racking through my eyes "can you speak?" At this I shook my head slowly to avoid pain
"We need to know what happened, though I can take a guess" a female said as she slowly unwrapped the bandage and replaced it "Your from the Greek pantheon correct?" I nodded again "That's all we needed to know to confirm the all fathers knowledge. Are you well enough to walk?"
I nodded slightly and with the help of the woman I was put on my own two feet. I then felt a familiar presence in my pocket and didn't even have to check it to know it was Riptide. I felt a small wave of relief as the woman slung one of my arms around her shoulders and helped me forward.
We traveled for several minutes and I heard gasps heard around me but I kept my head still as to not cause any pain. Eventually I heard the sound of doors opening and felt myself moving forward again.
"Eir, I see you bring our guest. Is he well?" A wise voice said softly
"Yes Allfather as well as he can be with what the Greeks did to him" Eir said and I faced Eir and then faced where I heard the Allfather
'These must be the Norse gods and goddesses...' I thought to myself as they continued talking,
"Percy, I believe that is what you wish to be called" Odin said and I nodded my head slowly "I have seen your deeds in service to the Greeks, and I wish to commend you, think of a boon you wish to have within reason and I will see to it that you receive it"
I heard some shuffling and something presses into my hand that felt like a pencil and my hand presses to paper. I quickly wrote down sight and my voice back but I heard Odin sigh sadly.
"I cannot give you those items I'm afraid. Whoever took your sight made sure that it cannot be fully repaired, we can gift you something to be in their place but they will not work and your voice was stolen and nothing short of Ragnarök will allow us to get it back. I am very sorry" Odin said and I nodded slowly as I started writing something different
When I was finished I held it up to Odin before I felt Eir turn the paper around.
"You wish for a new life away from the Greek gods? How far do you wish to live?" Odin asked seriously and I wrote down 'if I could leave the planet that would be great' jokingly but I heard him muttering to himself "I can grant you this wish, but there will be a trial, you must go meet the Norns for their approval. And the path to them is perilous and even with your godly weapon you would be hard pressed to survive. So tell me, do you truly wish to be free of Midgard?" He asked and I paused
Was it truly possible to leave? And if so how did the Norse have the capability? Pushing aside the questions I nodded and faced him.
"I think he's up to the challenge Allfather" the gruff man said "and I wish to help by giving him my blessing" he finished and at his words my head snapped towards him causing immense pain to flare up in my eye sockets causing me to drop to the floor
"Percy!" Eir shouted as she knelt down and placed a hand on my head and the pain faded away "I think first things first we summon the dwarves so they can forge Percy a set of eyes so that he doesn't hurt his head every time he turns it"
"A wonderful idea Eir" Odin says as he mutters something to someone and I hear the flapping of wings pass by before they vanish
Suddenly as Eir was helping me up I felt a jolt of electricity shoot through me and rattle my body. I swing my head around slowly only to feel a pulse of energy and know exactly where the man was. However I could only get a rough estimate of his size and shape and I couldn't see the shape I just knew what it was.
"Interesting" the man said as two more voices entered the conversation
"Is this the one?" One of the new comers asked "Doesn't look Aesir to me"
"Oh shut up Brokkr, a job is a job and we'll do it all the same" a similar voice said "What would you have of us?"
"A weapon and armor for young Percy here, a Yggdrasil Key, and a set of eyes for him as well" Odin said and I tilted my head at him "You will find out why in due time Percy" he explained and I nodded slowly confused
"Is that all? Very well we will begin with the weapons and armor, it will be done in three days" the second voice said as the two people walked away and vanished
"Percy, I suggest you rest for your journey will be hard not in the way that it will be deadly but you will need to descend to the roots of Yggdrasil, to speak with the Norns" Odin said and I nodded again as Eir led me out of the room and back to the room where I woke up or at least that's what I assume
As soon as I was put on the bed and I felt Eir pull her arm back I grabs her hand and faced where I assumed her face was and mouthed 'thank you' to her.
"Your welcome Percy, now rest, you'll need every ounce of strength to traverse the World Tree" Eir said before she pulled away and walked out
A/N: here you go! Again if there are any issues please let me know, this a different way of writing and I'm not used to it! Until next time my fellow Demigods and Demigoddesses, take care!
