"Diría que desde el incidente, ella había cambiado debido . . . a eso o algo más?"

"No, inspector. After the accident, it was hard for all of us, but Alaska . . . she shut down. Things were never the same, honestly, I couldn't keep up with her new personality . . . and I'm her twin brother."

-

When Alejandro Velasquez left the front doors to the car park to head towards his Bimmer tired as ever later that day, there was only one thing on his mind. The gym.

Often his sister would ask him how he could possibly claim he was tired everyday after school, but as soon as he dropped her home, he was switching his Valentinos for Nikes. He always responded that school tired was never the same as gym tired.

She never understood.

Alejandro had been actively going to the gym for nearly two years .

What he told everyone, was that he found passion in the gym randomly. It was something he wanted to try out, and that it just so happens that he liked it the first few times he tried it. This is what he told everyone.

Though he'd never admit it, Alaska knew that it was because he had stopped playing tennis when he found it hard to play knowing that he wanted to pull away from Ander after everything that happened. He needed some other sort of exercise. Just so happens that he ended up liking the gym. More specifically, boxing.

She understood.

This was a good thing for him however. He was healthier physically as well as mentally, he had an outlet whenever he wasn't feeling particularly himself, and not to forget how much his body had changed.  That factor was "shockingly" popular around the females and the amount of attention he got from them. With his physique, curly sandy hair and bright blue eyes, and overall amazingly friendly personality, it was no wonder why he was the more approachable, popular twin. Alaska didn't mind though. She never liked the attention anyway.

Alejandro slung his backpack behind him after getting out his sunglasses. He waited out by his car, on his phone, while he waited for Alaska to exit as well.

He wasn't waiting that long, because about three minutes after she was exiting the doors, but not alone. Alejandro was perplexed.

Alaska walked out, a somewhat half smile on her face strolling next to a brunette girl with slightly curly hair. When Alejandro focused slightly more, she saw that it was Nadia, the new student from his class.

A smile of his own made it's way onto his face at the sight of his little (by twelve minutes) sister make her way towards his car on her usual route but this time not alone.

"Are you ready?" he asked as she neared closer enough to hear him.

"I'm going to walk today."

Alejandro was yet again, perplexed.

"Que?"

"Nadia lives in the town so I'll just walk her home and then come home myself because its on our way." she replied somewhat with a low tone.

"Actually, we have to take the bus to my house." Nadia looked to her.

"Oh . . . well I guess I'll get the bus with Nadia home, and then walk home from there." she concluded.

Alejandro looked to his with a small grin on his face at the random change of her usual routine. But he wasn't against it. In fact, if she wanted to make Nadia a new friend, then he would help her.

"Where do you live Nadia?" He asked, turning to her.

"About fifteen minutes away from here, in the town." she replied softly, turning to look at him too.

"Well why don't we just drop you home?" he suggested.

"Oh no, I don't want to bother-"

"You're not bothering, I insist. Let me drop you off, because if it's important to Ala then it's important to me."

Alaska and Nadia smiled.

Alejandro didn't wait for a further response. Several minutes later, he was down the street, his sister in the passenger seat, and her new friend in the backseat.

Alaska reached for the bluetooth button to sync her phone. She didn't get the however because he hand was slapped away by her brother.

"Qué coño?" Alaska turned to him, annoyed.

"You played your shit tracks the whole time to school this morning, so it's my turn."

"Don't let me rock your jaw please, Move. Your. Hand." she replied daringly.

Nadia smiled, suppressing a giggle, as she witnessed them stare intently at one another for a few minutes. Soon, Alejandro pulled up on the side of the road and turned to her. They were Versace sunglasses to Chanel sunglasses, facing one another.

"Try me then." Alejandro replied lowly.

In a flash, they were physically fighting - well, Alaska was attacking Alejandro trying not to laugh, and Alejandro was catching her flying fists blatantly laughing.

"Ale just let me play my fucking music!" She smiled.

"Maluma es basura, Ala." he replied.

At that, Alaska's jaw dropped, and she whisked to Nadia in the back, who was still trying not to burst into straight laughter.

"Nadia, you choose. Would you rather listen to real, quality music like Maluma - Is Maluma not quality music, Nadia? ¿Qué cojones?-" Alaska was cut off and whipped to face Alejandro, annoyance more prominent then ever when Alejandro put his large left hand over her face.

"Nadia. Who do you prefer? Maluma or Jay-z. Jay-z, Nadia!"

Nadia looked between them thinking for a few seconds whether or not she should break Alaska's heart with the truth or support her new friend.

"Jay-Z . . ."

She chose the latter.

"Huh?!"

"Ha!"

And that was the end of that.

Hello Brooklyn 2.0 played on the ride home.

Nadia got down out of the car, ready to get inside the grocery store. As she turned around to face and say goodbye to Alaska's half-smile which she couldn't return. Just then, fly one thought consumed her.

How could anyone cheat on her?

"I'll see you tomorrow, Nadia?" the girl in question turned to ask her through her side of the window.

Nadia simply nodded her head and waved goodbye as the slick white Bimmer zoomed forward.

How could anyone cheat on her?

"Ole, Ole por fin!"

"So good to see you!" Christian and Nano beamed, embracing one another and sharing a brotherly cuddle.

"Twelve, thirteen, fourteen Hang in there!-" Samuel looked to his side, laying his eyes on Nano holding a bottle up to Christian's mouth as he downed the drink.

"Fifteen, sixteen, that's it!"

The two friends had not seen each other since Nano had gone away. Their reunion was long overdue. They lit their cigarettes and began to catch up.

"So, they make a school collapse, and get away with it. Can't wrap my fucking head around that!"

"When will the others be released?" Christian asked.

"What do I know, man? That's how the world works. Some of us in jail for some small shit, and the real crooks out on the street."

"It figures. I almost didn't live to tell it. I got a huge cut in my head. But, that got me a ticket to fancy-land."

"It's no joke, Christian, what if there had been casualties? This is not okay. This country is a fucking joke." Nano got serious.

"Let's give your brother a drink, we're losing him!"

Nano laughed.

"How is that school anyway?"

Christian scoffed and smiled.

"Nano, hombre. That school is filled with a different breed of girls like you would never believe."

"Girls, huh. Any that you like?"

"Nano. I can't even begin to tell you what that was like to walk in there and see all those girls. Brunettes, raven hair girls, redheads, blondes- and speaking of blondes mano. There is this blonde girl who is driving my balls absolutely crazy!"

Nano laughed, taking a drag of his cigarette.

"What's her name?"

"To be honest, I don't even know. Claudia, Claurissia, Clara-"

"Carla." Samuel cut in.

"Carla? Sounds . . . girly."

"She is. And there's this other girl - she's not my type, but she seems nice. I call her Loski."

"She seems nice? Are you going to go to her house and braid her hair too?" Nano laughed.

"There are no bottles left." Samuel reported back.

"None? I can solve that in a second. Be right back."

"A little stuck on that topic, isn't he? I mean, I don't know, Nano is like a brother to me, you know. And my brother's brother is also my brother, right?-"

"You want my notes from class?" Samuel scoffed, to which Christian replied by excusing himself to go and throw up.

Alaska tightened her laces on her midnight blue Huaraches, connected her AirPods and headed for her front door.

"Alba, I'll be back in around an hour, hour thirty minutes."

With that, she stretched her limbs and opened the door to reveal the warm early autumn breeze on her skin. With the way the 9pm sky with no stars that night reflected, she knew she wouldn't spend too long outside. She was aiming to just circle around the neighbourhood.

She began her jog, focusing on nothing but her surroundings, but it was only a matter of time until her thoughts would catch up to her and she knew that.

So she sped up, and sped up, and sped up.

Before the girl knew it, she was at the familiar T junction that she knew all too well. Left, would lead out of the neighbourhood, and right would go deeper. It just so happened too that the second house on the right would be her boyfriend's house. Guzman had already told her that he wasn't going to be home, meaning it was only going to be Marina in the grand mansion.

After all these years, it still hurt to even walk by their house when she didn't have a reason to see Guzman.

She slowed down slightly when she reached the stone white house. But that was only when she saw the two figures outside the house.

Then she stopped completely and lowered the volume of her AirPods.

"No! What are you doing? Don't even think about it!"

"Yes! Let's enjoy it, Samu."

Two voices whisper-yelled. She took off the earphones completely and furrowed her eyebrows, walking slowly towards the very male looking figures.

The taller one shook what appeared to be a spray can and walked towards the wall. They were about to vandalise the house.

"Nano! You just got out of jail, and this is the dumbest shit you could do!"

She knew that voice. She knew that voice.

In the midst of her walking towards the males the bottom of her shoe crushed a stone which let out a sound, alarming one of them.

"Nano, someone's coming! Nano!"

 "What?"

"Someone's coming, let's go! Come on!"

Alaska picked up her footsteps, seeing if she could gain in on the voice she swore she knew.

Before she knew it, they were off on a motorbike.

"You want to risk them believing her?"

"This is all your fault." Guzman replied to Lu, a frown forming on his face.

 "Mine?"

"Yes, you and your silly obsession with doing it in public places."

"Sure. As if you didn't like it."

"I have a fucking girlfriend, Lu."

Lu scowled and watched as he walked closer to Nadia.

"Hello. Sorry about yesterday."

Nadia turned around, glowering at Guzman who had creeped up on her and disrupting her thoughts.

"We thought we were alone."

"If only." Nadia glared. She didn't like him one bit.

"Look, I know we started off on the wrong foot. I'd like to fix that. I'm sor-"

"You're only sorry-" she turned to look at him. "because you were, sorry are cheating on your girlfriend. And you want to make sure that I don't say anything to anyone. Am I right?" Nadia crossed her arms and turned to Guzman.

"You're right. But that was a one time thing."

Nadia scoffed and turned back to face the trophy, not believing a word that escaped his lips.

"Why don't you come tonight to my sister's coming out party? We can get to know each other."

"Thanks, but no. Have a nice day."

As she walked away, all she could think about was why she hadn't yet told Alaska, she wasn't sure.

But she couldn't help but think that it just wasn't her place.

A/N:

Believe it or not, I had to split this chapter into two pieces because it was two long and rambly. Bit boring, but I thought it'd be good to give some more character detail so forgive me. Next one get's better :D
