52: I'm Sorry Bestie
Let you down - NF
_________
His muscles tenses up as he climbs the side of the tree beside his house to the balcony, making sure to not make too much noise. Once he landed on the concrete and carefully slides the glass door of his room, he takes in the darkness with a slight frown. The only reason Jungkook came back to this forsaken household is to just gather more of his clothes for himself.
His family isn't home at the moment, off to an annual party they got invited to by Seokjin's family actually, and that information was thankfully sent to Jungkook thanks to a maid who works here. Apparently his father has sent all of the maids and butlers to keep an out in Jungkook comes back, but thankfully Hwasa is on Jungkook's side on this, and clearly doesn't give a fuck about Jungkook's father's orders.
She has eyes peered in case the parents do return while he's here, in that way to inform him and cause a distraction in the meantime for him to escape.
So more calmly, Jungkook steps a foot inside, his mind set on going to his closet to gather his things, but what Jungkook absolutely did not expect was to be suddenly yanked by the arm and thrown to his bed with full force.
A sudden fearful shriek escapes Jungkook's throat as he meets Taehyung's dark eyes glaring down at him from above him, his entire body hovering him while he straddles his lap, trapping his body in place.
"Taehyung! What are you doing? Have you lost your mind!" Jungkook hisses angrily as he tries to escape the death grip of Taehyung's hands on his wrists over his head.
"We need to talk," Taehyung huffs annoyedly in return, "This has been going on far too long-"
"Jungkook?"
Jungkook can physically feel his heart drop to the ground upon hearing that familiar voice reaching his ears.
Shit he's so screwed, and this looks so wrong.
The pair snaps their heads to the door of the balcony, landing their eyes to the familiar silhouette of Jimin standing there, raking in how Taehyung is shamelessly hoving over his boyfriend while pinning his wrists against the bed.
Jimin's eyes shadows a familiar darkness of anger.
And Jungkook begins to panic, "Jimin, this is not what it-"
"Kim Taehyung," Jimin interjects calmly with emotionless eyes, stepping farther into the room while closing the balcony door shut gently, "I would highly appreciate it If you could please get off my boyfriend. It's such a beautiful night to be triggering my anger since I'm actually in a good mood right now."
Taehyung's eyebrows furrowed.
Boyfriend?
Taehyung only stares at Jimin for a moment longer and then he slowly removes himself from Jungkook, a light blush tinting his cheek in humiliation, but out of no where he's pushed to the wall and Jimin stands in front of him with a more firm glare in his eyes.
"Now that you're a marvelous distance away, what are you doing here and why were you on my boyfriend?" Jimin growls with arms crossed over his chest.
Oh shit, since when did he get a thicker skin?
Taehyung glares slightly to the floor, still not willing to say anything. Of course he won't since Jimin is here and he only wanted to speak to Jungkook, and the smaller knew that.
As much as Jimin didn't want Jungkook to get hurt in the presence of this blond prince charming, Jimin knew this was something between them that they need to settle down.
So he cross his arms, "I'll wait outside the door then," he mutters bitterly and approaches the door, but Jungkook suddenly latches a hand to his wrist and yanks him back, eyes stern to Taehyung.
"No, if he has something to say, he can say it to both of us. You're staying," Jungkook remarks, keeping his grip on Jimin as Taehyung glances between the two, fighting to hide the envy gleam behind his eyes.
It's clear he's at a war with himself. Something is purging his mind, and that's the side that's winning.
"Then forget it, I'm leaving-"
"Are you done?"
Both Jungkook and Taehyung snap their heads to Jimin, who glares at Taehyung with a clear scowl on his lips.
Taehyung perks an eyebrow, "Excuse me?"
"You heard me," Jimin sneers and steps closer to him, "Are you done hiding behind your anger? It's not a good look on you doll face."
Now this pissed Taehyung off, "Bold of you to be speaking right now when this conversation has nothing to do with you."
Jimin is to his face now, looking between his eyes with a pointed stare, "It doesn't? Oh, are you confident about that?"
Taehyung looks back to him, and it's as though a wall behind his eyes weakened, just a tad bit.
Jungkook watched them, watched Taehyung specifically, and his heart slightly dropped a little to that hint of vulnerability behind those glossy eyes. The realization settled on Jungkook like a feverish storm.
Does Taehyung.....
Does he....
"Don't try to make yourself so important, I only care about Jungkook."
"I'm sure you do, but we can't deny you've been acting up since I came into the picture," Jimin snaps back, "Stop hiding already and face yourself."
To this the blonde grits his teeth and balled his hands to a fist on his sides, "You don't know anything about me."
"Of course I don't," Jimin whispers, studying his eyes carefully before glancing at Jungkook, "But I know Jungkook, and he trusted you. I trust him when he said you aren't as cruel as you have been behaving lately. So you're going to sit here, talk to Jungkook, and I will be in this nice corner, reading, to be my boyfriend's emotional support if he needs it, okay?"
And just like that, Jimin goes to the chair at the corner of the room, having a perfect view of the bed and grabs the book by the nightstand table beside it and opens to the first page, giving them their privacy by not paying attention.
Well, so he tried.
Taehyung reluctantly looks at Jungkook and the ravenette only sighs and sits on the bed, motioning to the space beside him for Taehyung to sit. The blonde was stubborn at first to make a move, but then after debating it in his head for a moment longer, he slowly sits down, eyes still not focusing on Jungkook.
Of course he will try to hide his pain, typical Taehyung thing to do.
"So, what's with the sudden surprise attack, hm?" Jungkook asks, lips pursed together in annoyance that his time with Jimin is being delayed.
The blonde didn't say anything at first, the ongoing war clear behind hid eyes, but then it was like his wall slowly began to crumble down and he lets out a shakily sigh, "My dad left last night.... I am staying with my mom and.... She's not exactly too happy."
As much as it hated Jungkook deep down inside to feel weak, he felt like a failure of being a best friend at that moment. He tried so hard to keep Taehyung happy throughout these years, to keep him in his little bubble of joy, and now he's suffering.
Then again, so has Jungkook and Taehyung never noticed, so Jungkook shouldn't be feeling guilty.
"We've been knew," Jimin suddenly sighs from his corner boredly as he flips through a page from the book, "Are you actually going to talk to Kookie about how much of a shitty person you are, or are you just going to go back to square one expecting Jungkook to be the one at the receiving end of all your problems?"
Jungkook sends his boyfriend a warning look to keep his mouth shut while Taehyung frowns deeply. Jimin didn't notice the sudden looks at first until slowly looks up from the book with a perked sassy eyebrow, "Oh sorry, was that too much? Okay, I'll be quiet this time."
After a second of silence Taehyung gulps and shakes his head, "He's right, you shouldn't always be at the receiving end..... I-I really want to apologize for what I have done. We've been friends for years and.... I've been such a horrible friend to you Jungkook."
That's when Taehyung slowly drops his solid walls and Jungkook feels a strong sting hit his chest upon locking gazes with Taehyung's teary eyes.
Jungkook hates seeing him cry.
"I was always so caught up with me and my own problems, my issues, and I would always dump that on you. I never once asked you how you are doing or how you are feeling. If you want me to be honest with you..... I was e-envious of you," Taehyung suddenly admits, making Jimin fight off a smirk since he knew he was right, "I wanted what you had; happiness, joy and freedom that you have been glowing lately these days ever since you met Jimin. I let that get the best of me and I'm so sorry, a real friend would be happy for you. I don't want to see you suffer, and if you'd give me one more chance, I promise I will be more myself towards you...... Not the golden boy of the school, but the real me. I don't want to lose you and it hurt so much not having my best friend by my side, it fucking hurts."
By now Taehyung is crying a river with Jungkook staring at him with pitiful eyes and a deep frown make shifting his lips, feeling that sense of empathy for his once blond friend. Meanwhile Jimin only flips through the next page of the book unfazed, not falling for this apology all too easily. It's not that he's not forgiving, of course he is, but he's learned personally from them that one has to see it to believe it. They can say sorry all they want, cry or even beg for forgiveness, but if they don't prove it, what's the point in even saying it.
It's just wasting oxygen at this point.
Jungkook gulps thickly and hesitantly raises a hand, patting awkwardly onto Taehyung's shoulder as he cries, "You don't have to do anything for me. If you're going to do something, start with you. You don't have to change anything about yourself if it won't make you happy," Jungkook advises, slightly fidgeting when Taehyung made eye contact with him once again, "I appreciate your honesty, but the times I have been there for you, I never asked for anything in return and never will-"
"No, you don't understand," Taehyung sniffles and rubs onto his own arm anxiously, "It's not your job for you to be like me, go pour your feelings out without asking. As your best friend, I should ask you how you are, how you are feeling, and I never did because I always expected for you to be okay. Even when I knew about the cuts, I knew you will be okay because you are Jungkook. You inspire me because you always manage to overcome any obstacle in your life somehow. You always seem to be okay. I fall so hard whenever I do, and sometimes I don't know how to get back like you do," Taehyung expresses, his body now shaken up in anxiety, "I always have high hopes for you and didn't have the need to worry..... And that's not the way to go. I have to look out for you as well, I have to ask how you are, and not just expect for you to always be on your best. I'm s-sorry Jungkookie, I-I really a-am."
And both Jungkook's and Jimin's jaws dropped when Taehyung suddenly gets to his knees, hands gripping together tightly while pressing his lips again it, fighting back his sobs, "P-Please forgive m-me. I've been so s-selfish and I don't d-deserve mercy, but please g-give me a chance to m-make it up to you, please... I-I'm s-sorry."
Jungkook whimpers back his tears upon seeing his childhood friend to his knees, pleading him to give him another chance. Never has Jungkook wanted Taehyung to end up like this, nor did he expect it to happen since they had a very easy going relationship. However, at that moment Jungkook finally saw Taehyung for who he was. Not as the golden boy or the head alpha of the school, but as his Taehyung; Filled with vulnerability that he hides behind a mask, unknowing how to express it since he has never liked to show his care or sensitivity.
Jimin and Jungkook finally sees Taehyung as Kim Taehyung.
A human with mistakes and that feels.
Not the ken doll he has shaped himself to be, or the perfect boy in front of everyone in school.
But the raw and bare Kim Taehyung, who was hidden underneath all those layers of perfection.
And never had Jimin seen someone, aside from Jungkook, as beautiful as Taehyung at this very moment.
He finally cracked.
A perfect doll shattering, and it's beautiful.
Jungkook carefully slides off the bed and stands up, gently pulling Taehyung to his feet by his gripped hands. Boldly he places his hands on Taehyung's golden and wet cheeks and caresses his skin, forcing him to look at him.
And the ravenette smiles, "You look so ugly when you cry."
Taehyung glares at him through his bloodshot red eyes, sobbing harder and then wipes his tear away, "This is why I don't like to cry, you asshole."
"Yeah, you shouldn't either," Jungkook muses and carefully brings him to his chest, wrapping his arms around his waist, "I don't like to see you cry."
Taehyung quietly hiccups against his chest, letting the warmth of his best friend fuel him with comfort and he pulls away, "I don't deserve this friendship, but I promise to be a better person. To be someone you can count on-"
"-Get in line."
Jungkook sends another look to Jimin, who nonchahantly stares down at the page of the book in concentration as if he didn't say anything, now being midway from finishing the book.
Taehyung whimpers quietly and blinks back his tears, "I'll be a better friend, I promise."
The ravenette averts his attention back to him, a small smile playing his lips, "I forgive you."
For a moment it didn't process the blonde what he said. He furrows his eyebrows in confusion and steps back, "Wait what? No, don't forgive me! Be angry with me! Hit me! Anything!"
"I'm not like that anymore," Jungkook chuckles halfheartedly but then grows serious, "But fine, want me to be stubborn? Apologize to Jimin then."
Jimin's whole body went cold the second he heard those words.
Apologize to who?
The small brunette at the corner of the room shoots his head up, eyes wide with a shake of his head, "Oh you don't have to-"
"Yes he does," Jungkook retorts back, "He didn't defend you, he tried to get you to not care about me while I was gone, dared raise his voice at you, beat you up, and has not been a good friend behind my back towards you-"
"- I did not get beaten up for your information and he has treated me decently-"
"Jimin you deserve an apology-"
"I don't need it-"
"Jimin."
The two were so into their bickering that they didn't notice Taehyung has already made way to stand in front of Jimin, pleading eyes staring down at him, "I'm really sorry-"
"Please don't," Jimin practically pleads, wanting the ground to eat him alive from existence at this very moment.
He really doesn't want to hear an apology just to be disappointed later on.
Taehyung shakes his head to Jimin's protest, "No Jungkook is right, you deserve an apology for the way I have been towards you," So the blonde gives Jimin a sincere look and frowns deeply, meanwhile Jimin crosses his legs with fingers knitted together on his lap, a lethal glare in his eyes that made the blonde shiver up in intimidation, "You have been through a lot, and going through it as of now. Regardless of that, you still manage to be there for me whenever I needed you and I'm sorry if I didn't appreciate it before. I see you with on high pedestal because of how happy you have made Jungkook. I let my jealousy get the best of me and I realize how much you have impacted my life as well, so I'm sorry."
Jimin doesn't say anything as he stares at the fragile male before his eyes and he suddenly grows angry.
Who does he think he is?
Using empathy on him? Oh please!
This is exactly what Jimin didn't want, for Taehyung to view him as if he's some angel.
Only Jungkook has that right, but Jimin won't fall for that self pity attitude.
So he shoots up to his feet in such a fast motion that even made Taehyung shuffle back in surprise, "Want me to be honest with you? I don't want to hear it. I don't need your apology nor do I want it. You can shout it from the roof top of a building, tell everyone how sorry you are, but your words will only mean nothing because that's something you have taught me since the day I met you," He growls and leans towards his face, making Taehyung flinch slightly "You're sorry? Then fucking prove it. Other than that your words will continue to be emptiness to my ears, just like you have made me feel."
And just like that Jimin walks past him and goes to Jungkook's balcony instead to cool off. Taehyung clutches his chest to Jimin's words and let's the tears spill down his eyes, feeling a strong sense of pain to his words.
This is too much.
His words.... The truth hurts too much.
"He isn't wrong, " Taehyung managed to say as wipe his tears away for what seems to be the millionth time, before turning around to face Jungkook who stares at his small boyfriend from the glass door, "I'm so happy that he's being more vocal about his emotions."
Jungkook smiles delicately to this, and turns to him, "Thanks to you. That day you both argued sparked something in him, and now.... Jimin is finally embracing himself."
The blonde smiles to this, the first real smile after such a long time, and approaches Jungkook, "I'll make it up to the both of you," He promises and gently squeezes Jungkook's shoulder, sending him a weak smile as Jimin walks back inside the room, letting their eyes lock together. Taehyung lingers his stare to Jimin's face, feeling his heart leap against his chest with determination consuming every cell in his body.
Jimin narrow his eyes, and stands upright with arms crossed, and Taehyung looks between his gaze with his shielding the emotions off.
The tension felt so thick and brutal that would even be difficult for a knife to slice through, but Taehyung broke up when he leans to Jimin's face, saying to his face.
"You have my word," And just like that Taehyung walks out the door.
Leaving both males breathless.
