35: Understanding Hobi

Why 'd You Only Call Me When You're High? - Arctic Monkeys

____________________

Jimin stares at his now brunette hair again in satisfaction, feeling a small content smile creep his lips as Jungkook's comforting words echoed his head, only making the smaller's smile twitch to a broad one.

Last night the two males went off into a deep conversation about beauty standards in society now these days. Jungkook mentioned how people now try so hard to be someone perfect, in which they think is beautiful, when I'm reality they always were to start with but let society mold them into thinking they aren't. Jimin doesn't know why, but those words shifted something inside him, especially after Jungkook mentioned all the things that he loved about Jimin.

And so as Jimin stared at himself in the mirror, he tried to see what Jungkook saw in him.

"A cute button nose."

His eyes lingers to nose, scrunching up his face and doing other weird faces just so his nose could slightly move. Trying to find the cuteness of his body part.

After a few more stares and testing facial expressions, Jimin fell in love with his nose.

"Wide full moon eyes that turns to crescents when you smile."

And so Jimin moved his eyes around, smiling widely and then frowns deeply, seeing how his eyes reflect every single expression he does, mimicking his inner emotions.

Jimin fell in love with his eyes.

"Mochi cheeks!"

Jimin puffed his cheeks out and then hallows them in, puffing out one side to the other and then smiles to show his cheek bones reflecting the smile.

His cheeks are cute..

"Your hair. Not going to lie, I like this color but it should be you who feels comfortable in any color hair that you wish to have."

And so Jimin runs his hand through his brunette hair, loving the soft texture against his finger tips and how it made him feel connected to himself again.

He likes his hair too.

"Plump lips. As much as I like to kiss them, how they smile has to be my favorite."

And so Jimin genuinely smiles, revealing his small crooked tooth that Jungkook has gushed to be so adorable.

And just like that, slowly Jimin began to see the beauty in what Jungkook saw in him.

In his own way, he felt..... Beautiful.

However the thought only brushed his mind briefly before it fell to a familiar emptiness with the self hatred demons trying to claw their way in. Sadly Jimin still isn't strong enough to hold them back, so he let his smile fall slightly. Those once good things he saw in himself completely gone into nothing.

He became nothing.

Well.... It felt nice while it lasted.

With a heavy sigh, he walks out of the bathroom and out his room. Jungkook is currently in his away soccer game, so Jimin isn't able to see him at the moment. They haven't seen each other as much as they would like, especially because of exams coming up and Jungkook's constant games as he prepares for the Championships. Despite the slight distance, Jimin hasn't been too hysterical or as upset as he thought he was going to be. Sometimes having distance is good, it keeps that fire going and makes Jimin miss him even more. Not only that but it's priorities as well. Jimin understands how busy Jungkook has been and encourages him to study and practice while Jungkook does the same to him as well. They just know that their time to be together will come, like last night where they weren't as busy, and they have the patience to wait for each other.

Even though they're not in a relationship yet..

Jimin has thought about it over many times on where the pair stands, but he would rather not overthink it too. All he cares about is that Jungkook is in his life; no title is necessary to show where they stand with each other. Besides, he would rather give it time since he recently got out of a relationship. And Jungkook seems to understand him.

So, on this boring Friday night, Jimin decided on going for a walk to distract his mind for a while. His parents are currently at church, having this ceremony with the adults of the church where they pray and do some other activities as well. Jimin is so glad he doesn't have to participate in none of that yet, even though he's already 18, but he would rather not remind his parents of that.

So Jimin walks out his home and down the side walk, shoving his hands down the pockets of his dressed pants with eyes set to his surroundings, feeling a sense of ease to the cool weather. It's currently twilight outside, a beautiful mixture of purple and dark blue fills the sky, only giving off a peaceful aura to the calm neighborhood. This familiar area just so happens to be the same area Jimin grew up in his whole life, in that same house he lives in now. During his freshman year up until his Junior year, Jimin use to run every single day in this neighborhood to lose his weight. He was so insecure about himself that it just got to that point where he would run for hours and hours and barely eat just to lose the weight that the people at school would make fun of him for.

He dwindled his time on the running when he ended up taking a ballet class during mid junior year, not by choice, and he's so grateful for it. That's where everything changed. His dance instructor would always tell him that he has a soul of a ballerina, since he danced so well with only so little experience. After he found out his talent, he used it, and it became his safe haven to this day.

Now instead of running, he dances.

And he loves it.

Jimin was so far into his own world that he didn't realize he ended up in town, where it's nearly barren but with a few people hear and there.

Just as he passes by a bar, he hears something that makes his feet plant to the ground and his breath hitch his throat.

"Give me another one! Heartbroken fucker over here!"

Jimin for sure recognizes that voice.

Without a second thought, the smaller boy goes inside the bar and almost immediately is slapped across the face with the thick smell of smoke and liquor. Jimin nearly doubled over by the intense need to gag from the horrid scented combination burning his sensitive nostrols. For a second he was just about to turn around to gasp for fresh air.

Air. Needs fresh. Air.

However, Jimin stops himself from darting out of the building when he sees the familiar hunched over figure sitting by the bar, muttering nonsense to the bartender. He inhales his weak pride and walks towards the bar; avoiding the intense gazes from the bikers and gang members scattered around the area and hurriedly sits beside the lean figure.

"Hose-"

"Want anything to drink princess?" The incredibly big bartender asks the minute Jimin sat down, a clear bored and judgemental tone in his eyes as he inhales Jimin's cream sweater vest and button up plaid shirt. Anyone with a brain can tell that Jimin doesn't belong here.

And he didn't like that.

He wanted to be seen with respect.

So he raised his head with the minimal confidence he has in his body, "2% milk please."

Milk?

What type of person orders milk at a bar?!

Clearly Jimin does.

Upon hearing Jimin's soft voice, Hoseok snaps his head up from the counter and a wide smile extends his lip upon seeing the smaller man there.

"Jiminie! My cute little baby friend!" Hoseok squeals drunkenly and throws an arm around Jimin's neck, laying his head on his shoulder, "I'm not lonely anymore!"

The smaller forces a makeshift smile and offers the bartender a nod when he brings him a glass of milk, instantly taking a large gulp of it.

If he's going to be in this place, mind as well drown in something that calms him down.

Everyone is still staring at him...

"Hobi, what are you doing here?" Jimin asks, reluctantly tearing the arm off him as the older gulfs another shot of some clear liquid from a shot glass.

That's definitely not water.

"Mending my broken heart.... That Kim Taehyung single handedly destroyed," Hoseok huffs annoyedly but the pained expression is clear behind his gaze, only tugging a sensitive string in Jimin's heart in pity.

He looks so sad.

The smaller places a comforting hand on his shoulder as the bartender bring Hoseok a glass of bourbon, "Maybe he has his reasoning behind it, you know?"

Hoseok laughs humorlessly and shakes his head, his face slowly falling to a puzzled look in his eyes, once again his orbs fill with pain.

"I don't understand, nothing makes sense," Hoseok whispers, engulfing the bourbon with glittering red eyes. Jimin frowns and glances between the once cheerful boy and the drink.

He looks so broken... Taehyung must really mean a lot to him.

Well that much is obvious.

"Have you tried talking to him?"

Hoseok snorts with a humorless smirk, "He doesn't want me. And...... Sometimes people aren't just meant for each other."

Jimin let's his words swirl his mind, slowly drinking his milk and his lips dropped to a frown as well. It's crushing his heart by how the older is handling this break up. Taehyung wasn't exactly specific to Jimin on why he broke up with Hoseok, but Jungkook has told him it's because of some personal issues.

And Jimin didn't want to nag on the matter unless it was Taehyung who told him about it.

So right when Hoseok was about to take a swing of his bourbon, something impulse Jimin to snatches it and gulp the liquid down entirely without a second thought. Hoseok's wide eyes stares at Jimin as the smaller man slams the glass to the counter, his face twisting in utter disgust to the bitter taste on his tongue as the liquid slide down his throat.

He has only drank once in his entire life and that was a sip of Smirnoff with Jungkook in his house since Jungkook was already drinking it when he arrived. It tasted more like soda to him than alcohol but Jungkook didn't let him drink more after that, drowning the alcohol down himself in a matter of seconds.

"Jimin, what are you-"

"If you are going to fuck yourself over, so will I. Can't beat them, join them," Jimin snaps, trying to avoid the bitter taste on his tongue .

For a moment Hoseok doesn't say anything, staring at Jimin in a slight admiration before turning to the bartender and orders something. Seconds later there's a shot glass in front of Jimin, making him slightly squirm in unease.

Oh shit he thought Hoseok wasn't going to-

"Last one," Hoseok assures him after noticing his unsteady gaze and raises the glass, a soft smile on his face, "And then we'll leave."

Jimin glances between Hoseok and the glass before raising it up hesitantly and clinks it with his, a slight sense of anticipation rising in his chest as he watches Hoseok swings his head back and drowns it down.

Last one, that's it.

And so Jimin drowns down the substance in the shot glass, his vision instantly blurring from the burning sensation down his throat.

The last one ended up becoming many more shot glasses later, and he found himself calling Jungkook through Hoseok's phone in his drunken state.

He misses his lovely.

"Hello?"

Jimin licks his numb lips, "I want you to fuck me daddy."
