Tobias POV

With those words my world fell apart. The person I love more than anything else is fighting for her life. The doctor walks out and I take Tris' hand in mine. "You know I was going to give you something today. It was my mom's engagement ring. I was going to ask you to marry me. I know we've only dated for a few weeks but you are my best friend and I wanted to get you away from that monster of a father you have. But if I can't protect you from then if you're going to leave me I want to be able to claim that your mine." I pull the ring out of my pocket and slide it on her finger. I sniffle and wipe away a tear. I get up and head to the waiting room to tell them the news. When I walk in I see all the girls crying with each other and the boys trying to calm them down. I clear my throat and all their heads shoot up. Chris quickly stands up and engulfs me in a hug. "Did they tell you anything else about her condition?" "Yeah, you may want to sit down first." They all sit down and stare at me. "I talked to the doctor some more and he said that as of right now she only has about a 30% of waking up." My voice cracks at the end. Everyone breaks down into tears again. Soon everyone head home while I go back to Tris' and mange to talk the doctors into letting me stay.

Tris has been in a coma for a month and I have hardly left her side. I haven't been back to school since she fell into her coma; I have the gang bring my homework. Today the doctors told me that if she doesn't wake up they'll have to take her off life support. "Tris you need to wake up. They said that if you don't then they'll take you off life support. Don't do that to me I need you in my life. I love you." I lean over and place a kiss on her lips. Just then her eyes flitter open.

TRIS POV

I feel a pressure on my lips and my eyes fly open. I am face to face with the deep blue eyes I have come to fall in love with. "Tobias." His eyes immediately light up. "Tris oh my god your awake." He places kisses all over my face. "What happened?" "We were at school and you passed out so we brought you to the hospital where you feel into a coma. You've been in one for a month." He says with tears in his eyes. "I thought I was going to lose you." "I'm not going anywhere." I kiss him again. Next thing I know Tobias gets a call. "It's the gang I'm going to tell them you awake." "Okay." He walks out right as a nurse comes in. "Wow you're awake. Are you feeling any pain or anything?" "No not right now." "Alright I'll be back in a little while to check on you. If you need anything just hit the call button." "Alright thank you." When she walks out Tobias walks in and I remember I heard him saying something about a ring. I look down and see a beautiful ring with a silver band and 3 diamonds. He follows my gaze and smiles. "I didn't know if you would wake up and that day I had planned on giving you that. So I went ahead and put it on your finger. You don't have to accept the proposal if you don't want." "Are you kidding I would love nothing more than to marry you." I kiss him, next thing I know the gang comes busting through my door. "Tris!!!!" Chris screams while crying. She engulfs me in a hug and we both cry. Eventually everyone joins in on the hug. "Okay guys your crushing me." They all laugh and pull up chairs next to my bed. "So Tris. What exactly happened?" I sigh I knew that they would ask that. "For you to understand I'm going to have to start from the beginning. But before I tell you, ya'll have to promise not to look at me different." They all nod and I take a deep breath before beginning.
