Shane

Florence heard a gunshot, she jumped higher than ever and hoped that others were okay. The girl waited by the door for the others to come in, she glanced at Daryl as he walked in asking about the two ex-police officers.

"We heard a shot," Florence announced.

"Maybe they found Randall?" Lori suggested.

"No, we found Randall, he's a walker." Florence shook her head,  resting her face in her hands and sighed. This was becoming way too much, she couldn't handle this much stress at the moment.

"Did you find the walker that bit him?"

"No, the weird thing is, he wasn't bit." Florence walked closer, glancing at the two men confused.

"That's not possible." She whispered, shaking her head, glancing at the others and saw they all looked just as worried as she felt.

"His neck was broken. Thing is, Shane and Randall's tracks were right on top of each other. And Shane ain't no tracker, so he didn't come up behind him. They were together." Florence walked out with Daryl, her spear in her hands and she walked onto the porch. Shared a look with Daryl, she tightened her grip on her spear and shook her head.

"Fuck." She hissed, the herd were gathering together on either side of the barn, Florence didn't want to have to face another one. Not so soon after what happened last time. Florence walked inside, Mason had his bag on his shoulders.

"Dad said never to go anywhere without my bag if there's a herd."

"Can you move with it on?"

"Yes." Florence placed hers on as well, she walked back and glanced at Lori who seemed too panicked.

"I can't find Carl."

"For crying out loud, Lori, keep your eyes on you boy." Mason hissed, Florence didn't care, she agreed with him and so she watched as Carol took Lori inside. Florence grabbed a gun, she took a breath, not happy with the idea of hearing all the guns.

"Flo- you gonna be alright?"

"I'll be fine." She whispered, Daryl, nodded, racing off to his motorcycle as Florence got into a car with Mason. He drove while Florence sat outside of the car, shooting at the walkers, she could hear screams and cries for help. Florence watched as Mason ran over two walkers and Carol quickly ran in. Florence nodded at Carol and proceeded to shoot the walkers that were nearby.

Mason drove away, and Florence sat in the car normally. Her hands shook as she brought them to cover her mouth. Tears fell from her eyes, she took shallow breaths, shaking her head and sobbing quietly. Florence rested her head on the glass, crying to herself and thinking about what the world had become.

"Oh, my god. I can't do this." She repeated over and over again. Florence shook her head, taking quick and short breaths. Mason wished he could do something, he didn't know what to do to help and make the pain go away

Mason found his way to the highway, he stopped the car seeing everyone all gathered around each other. Florence let out a cry of relief as she saw everyone, Mason stopped the car and ran out to the others. Florence ran to Daryl, she hugged him tightly, burying her head in the crook of his neck and almost buried herself under his arms. The action seemed to shock him but he held her even tighter and rubbed her back hearing her quiet sobs.

Daryl waited until she was ready to let go, she took a step back and glanced at Daryl as he held onto her arm. Florence stared at him softly, he examined her form, making sure that she was fine and glanced at the others. Daryl had the girl close to his side, he didn't want her to leave it and he was scared of her being out of reach.

"We have to get off the highway, if we stay here any longer, the walkers will become a bigger problem," Rick informed the group, and they all nodded, clearly a discussion from beforehand had brought the mood down, Florene glanced at Daryl and whispered shyly.

"Can I ride with you?" Daryl nodded, Florence told Mason what would be happening and moved to the motorcycle, she sat behind Daryl, her arms around his waist as he led the group away from the highway. Florence jumped hearing the toot of the horn, Daryl pulled over and glanced at Florence who held herself tightly.

"We're running on fumes." Rick sighed as he walked over, Florence glanced at the others who all gathered around the motorcycle.

"We can't stay here."

"We can't all fit in one car." Florence just wanted a break, she wanted to be safe and find somewhere safe to be.

"We'll have to make a run for some gas in the morning."

"Spend the night here?"

"We'll get some firewood, we'll be warmer that way," Florence informed, she glanced at Daryl who added to her suggestion.

"If you go looking for wood, stay close. Yeah?" He gave a pointed look at Florence, she bit her lip and turned away, glancing at Rick who seemed really discontent.

"I've only got so many arrows. How you doing on ammo?" Rick shook his head, signalling he didn't have enough for whatever situation may arise.

"Alright, we'll set up a perimeter. In the morning, we'll find gas and some supplies. We'll keep pushing on."

"Glenn and I can go make a run now, try and scrounge up some gas." Maggie suggested, Rick shook his head, giving a pointed look to everyone.

"No, we stay together. God forbid something happens and people get stranded without a car."

"Rick we're stranded now."

"I know it looks bad. We've all been through hell and worse, but at least we found each other. I wasn't sure, I really wasn't, but we did. We're together, we'll keep it that way. We'll find shelter, there's gotta be something somewhere." Florence already decided she preferred Rick as a leader rather than Shane, she was glad that he wasn't a problem anymore.

"Rick, look around, okay? There's walkers everywhere. They're migrating or something."

"There's gotta be a place not just where we hole up, but that we fortify. Hunker down. Pull ourselves together, build a life for each other." Florence missed the look Daryl subconsciously gave her, he wanted to have a life with her in it, and she was soft and gentle. Something he didn't want to see disappear.

"Rick, believe me, I want that too but we can't be certain that it'll be safe. We don't know if there are any other groups nearby. Groups that want to hurt us. We don't have the ammo to defend against them or walkers." Florence reasoned.

"We'll make camp tonight over there. Get on the road at the break of day." Florence took a breath, she didn't expect to be heard but she wished that she was.

"What if walkers come through, or another group like Randall's? Florence has a point!" Beth pleaded, glancing at Daryl as he spoke but her main focus was on Rick.

"You know I found Randall, right? He had turned, but he wasn't bit." Florence forgot about that, she looked at Rick, clearly being able to tell that he knew something.

"Rick, what's wrong?"

"Shane killed Randall. Just like he always wanted to." Florence sighed, she didn't expect anything other than that. Rick was silent for a long time, the words he said shattered her completely.

"We're all infected." Florence shook her head, not wanting to believe it.

"At the CDC, Jenner told me. Whatever it is, we all carry it." Florence backed away, shaking her head, her hands were shaking and she could feel the panic coming.

"And you never said anything?"

"Would it have made a difference?"

"You knew this whole time?" Florence was frozen in her spot, her mind going into overdrive, she couldn't calm herself and she felt sick in the stomach.

"How could I have known for sure? You saw how crazy that.."

"That is not your call. When I found out about the walkers in the barn, I told for the good of everyone" Glenn hissed, Mason was just as shocked as his sister but he knew how to hide it better.

"Well, I thought it be best that people didn't know."

"Rick! What happened if one of us die and we weren't bitten?" Mason scoffed as Rick ignored him, walking away and leaving the group confused and worried. Daryl turned to Florence who was pale, shaking and took quick inhales. Daryl grabbed her arms, her eyes were past his, and the man could clearly tell she was having a panic attack, Daryl rested a hand on her face and it caused her to look at him. Her eyes were there but not really there, Daryl brushed her hair out of her face, trying to find a way to calm her down.

"Flo- look at me, I need you to take a deep breath- here... smell this. What does it smell like? I don't know." Daryl knew what it was, it was lavender, he just needed Florence to calm down and breathe. Florence took a whiff, she took another one, finding comfort in the familiar smell.

"It's lavender." Smiling faintly, Florence slowly blinked, her breathing becoming more regular as she stared at Daryl. He rested his hand on one side of her face, shooting her a reassuring look. Florence nodded, holding onto the lavender and hugged Daryl carefully.
