Boom

Florence grimaced, she turned away, taking a moment to slow her breathing down which picked up seeing a man like this. Daryl glanced at the girl, he could see her hand on her chest, her shoulders bobbing up and down as she fought to have her breath back.

"You good?"

"Mhm-" Florence quickly bent over, vomiting in the dirt, she felt Daryl rub her back and lightly patted her back as she slowly stood up. She wiped her mouth, feeling gross from vomiting and kept her back turned to Daryl.

"How'd you learn to shoot?" Florence asked, trying to compose herself before she turned back to Daryl.

"Gotta eat. That's one thing these walkers and us have in common. I guess it's the closest he's been to food since he turned. Look at him hanging up there like a big piñata. The other geeks came and ate all the flesh off his legs." Florence shook her head, trying to keep her guts down.

"Let's go." Florence shook her head, she grabbed her spear from off the ground and handed it to Daryl.

"You're taller and you've got longer arms. stab him please." Daryl handed her the crossbow, trusting her enough to hold it without doing anything stupid. Daryl killed the thing, traded weapons with Florence and started walking back with her.

Florence felt awful seeing Carol's reaction, Daryl patted Florence on the back, and she went back into the car she was in beforehand. The next morning, they all made their way to the Greene farm,  Florence hugged Mason tightly, and she stood by her brother as they listened to a ceremony for a man named Otis. Florence paid her respects to a man that saved his life for a little boy he didn't know.

The group gathered around a car, explaining to Hershal about the whole Sofia situation, Hershal shook his head at the two policemen, telling both of them to sit down and rest. Leaving it to just Florence and Daryl to do the work.

Florence glanced to see her brother talking to Beth Greene, a girl the same age as him. Florence finished setting up her tent, she saw Daryl walk off and she ran over with her spear in her hand.

"Daryl, I'll come with."

"Nah, stay here- I can't be worrying about Sofia and you." Florence nodded, walked away and gave a smile to Rick as she headed off. Florence walked over to her brother who was talking with Beth.

"Beth, this is my older sister, Florence." The older girl smiled and held out her hand.

"Nice to meet you." Beth smiled and shook her hand.

"Nice to meet you too. The farm is lovely, I don't know if the others have said it but thank you for having us on your property. It's a lot to ask these days." Beth smiled and nodded.

"I'll tell my daddy that. He'll appreciate it." Mason gave his sister a look, Florence smiled and raised her hand to wave.

"I'll just go see if the others need any help with running anything." Beth nodded and Florence headed off to allow Mason to chat with the younger Greene. Florence sat in her tent, fiddling with her heart locket and looking through the items in her bag.

She was beginning to miss the cold, Florence hated the heat and felt she was sweating more than the rest. Florence closed her eyes for a moment, sleeping and ignoring the world outside. She slept through the night, Daryl hadn't come back yet and that scared her. Florence knew quite well that Daryl could look after himself but she was worried for the man.

Florence glanced at Shane in the early morning, narrowing her eyes as she saw the shaved head, Mason stood by her side and knew exactly what she was thinking.

"He will kick your ass if you call him G.I Joe."

"He is, though!" Florence giggled with Mason, shaking her head, glancing at the group as she realised it was time to go on the look for Sofia.

"I know, be safe, don't be stupid. I'll be here when you get back." Florence nodded, hugging her little brother tightly and walked off by herself. Giving her the chance to look for the girl alone, being alone with her thoughts was not something she enjoyed, quite frankly it scared the living shit out of her.

The girl marked her area, searching everything and not being able to find any sign pointing to Sofia. Florence stumbled onto her behind, yelping in shock as she saw a horse coming her way, it stopped as it saw her and grunted. Hitting the dirt, the girl slowly approached the horse, she glanced at the bags, swearing under her breath as she saw Daryl's bags. It ran off, seeming like it knew how to get back home, Florence followed the tracks, looking high and low for the not-so-mean redneck.

Florence screamed as she was tackled by a walker, she whimpered as she tumbled down a little dirt hill. Florence reached for one of her weapons, groaning once she realised her weapon belt was not in arms reach. The walker snapped angrily at her, baring its teeth and fighting against her grip. The brunette kept her hands around its throat, trying to keep it as far as she could so she would not be bitten.

Her heart was beating so loudly she could feel it thumping harshly in her chest, her throat was tight with panic, making it hard to gasp for air. She kicked the walker away, quickly grabbed a rock and sat on the walker's back as it rolled in the dirt, the brunette shouted over and over again as she brought the rock to the walker's head, stopping once its' head caved in.

Almost instantly Florence stared horrified at her own hands, she threw the rock away and stood away from the corpse, vomiting in the bush, a sob escaped her lips. Scared with herself, unsure if she could trust what she would do if her life was on the line. She grabbed her weapons belt, securing it around her waist a lot better than before and picked her spear up, walking as quietly as she could through the woods.

After getting herself together, Florence continued following horse hooves, she saw a bunch of broken bushes. Crouching down low, she saw Daryl on the ground, a bolt through his side and a walker about to crouch down and take a bite out of his ankle.  Florence ran down, she stumbled, crying out as she felt her ankle twist uncomfortably, the brunette saw Daryl stirring awake, mumbling words to himself, clearly in shock from his accident.

Florence grimaced as she pushed herself up, too worried about helping Daryl to be concerned about her own health. She stabbed the walker that was at Daryl's feet in the head and quickly removed the spear hearing another walker, swiftly Florence launched the spear into the air and wobbled on her feet as the walker fell to the ground from being killed by her spear. Florence rushed into the water, grabbed the spear from the walker and ran back to Daryl who had pushed himself up.

"Daryl, shit- we've got to get you back to the farm." Florence had seen that he already applied pressure to the wound, she grabbed his arm, yanking him up and stared at him confused as he shook his head, pushing her away.

"I'm fine, woman, go find someone else to play nurse with." Florence glared at him, yet kept her mouth shut and grabbed his arm again, dragging him up the hill. Finding it more important to get him away and deal with his condition than her swelling ankle.

"I said leave me alone, goddamnit!" Florence yelped as he shoved her away once they made it to the top. Florence stared at him afraid, he had a glare in his eyes, she pushed herself off the ground and whimpered as she put pressure on her ankle.

"Daryl, let's go. Now." Her voice was stern, she wasn't letting him die out here, Florence ignored his protesting and kept him up as she started taking him back to camp.
