Chapter 3: Class with Crush
"Sophia, you sit next to... Let's see. Charlie. Kyla sits on your other side." The teacher, Mrs. Kinser, said, pointing with a pencil to the empty seat.
Sophia walked to sit down, putting her backpack straps around the back of the plastic chair. She sat down, fumbling with her sleeve nervously. She sat right next to the girl she bumped into! And the girl who sat on her other side was presumably not the nicest. The two said girls walked in, talking and laughing.
They both had pink hair, Charlie's supposed to be red but it came out pink and Kyla's only dyed at the tips. They sat down, Sophia's hood was up so no one could really tell who she was. It was a black sweater with cat ears on the hood.
"Hi! I'm Kyla, what's your name?" The blonde-pink haired girl asked. Sophia pulled off her hood, waving a bit shyly.
"I'm Sophia, nice to meet you Kyla." Sophia said, trying to hide the sadness from this morning in her voice.
Kyla frowned, noticing the tearstains on Sophia's cheeks. Charlie had been watching silently, out of the corner of her eye. She thought that Sophia was quite beautiful, but doubted she was bisexual or lesbian. Sophia talked with Kyla for a bit, Kyla insisting to know what happened to make Sophia cry.
Charlie tapped Kyla's shoulder, talking with her behind Sophia quietly.
"Kyla, she's the girl I told you about! The girl I bumped into this morning." Charlie said, a small blush warming her cheeks.
"Really?! Go for it!! Ask her if she's okay while your at it, I'm worried something bad happened. She seems like a sweet girl, I don't want anyone or anything to hurt her." Kyla replied
Charlie blushed deeper, looking at the now hooded blonde. Sophia had her headphones in now, listening to a song that she never thought she would listen to again. It was a sad, depressing song. She found it when looking through her recommended.
Little girl terrified.
Sophia closed her eyes, trying to prevent tears.
She'd leave her room if only bruises would heal.
Sophia gripped her wrist, ignoring the searing pain of the deep cuts on her wrist.
A home is no place to hide.
Small tears dropped onto the white table, her shoulders shaking as the song continued
Her heart is breaking from the pain that she feels.
Charlie furrowed her brow, about to place a hand gently on Sophia's should before pulling away.
Every day's the same, she fights to find her way
Sophia pulled her hood over her face, ignoring her friend Jean as she tried to calm her.
She hurts, she breaks, she hides and tries to pray.
Charlie, Kyla and Jean began to comfort Sophia, not knowing what happened but worried for her. A few of the boys who sat in front of them started to tease Sophia, pulling at her sweater and pushing her.
She wonders why, does anyone ever hear her when she cries?
Sophia pulled out her headphones, close to crying out in annoyance. The song made her more sad, more depressed, more
Broken.
