"Are you ready to go?" Bree asks me as I stand in the shed and look around for my phone. I shake my head and keep looking, after a while giving up and asking Bree to call my phone. It starts ringing from under the couch and I pick it up and put it in my pocket.
"Now I am ready to go," I tell her, walking over to where she's standing on the soft carpet. It took five months to remodel the whole shed, and fix the hole that we broke to make a door for Gold. We saved up money from babysitting to buy the furniture and different things we needed for our shed.
In one of the rooms we even have a cat bed for when Gold comes to visit us. She'll lay there while we do homework until her mom comes and practically drags her out so she can get back to learning how to rule her kingdom.
Though the kingdom isn't completely hers as Queen Pitbull has a son, Prince Shepard. He and Gold are really good friends, and when their parents are gone, make awesome rulers of the kingdom. They won't be initiated for a long time though but that gives them time to find love.
"Three, two, one," Bree says and a bright light starts to surround us. It gets too bright to see and suddenly we're in the main entrance of the palace. We walk up the stairs and to Gold's room, knowing that she and Shepard usually hang out there.
"Gold! It's Cloud and Bree!" I say, knocking on the door. I hear footsteps and Gold swings open the door, almost hitting me in the face. Shepard laughs and warns her that she needs to open doors slower or else she's going to accidentally take someone's face off someday.
"Come in!" She says, noting my sleeve and dragging me into the room. I sit down on one of the beds and watch as Gold and Shepard finish the game that they're playing on the podium. They walk over to Gold's bed and sit down on it.
"So, are you going to tell them?" Shepard asks Gold, nudging her in the side. She grumbled at him but he just smiles happily back at her. I look over at Bree, my eyebrows raised. She just shrugs in return and we wait as Shepard glares Gold down.
"Fine. I have a partner. His name is Panther," she grumbles. I smile and clap my hands together, making Bree jump beside me. I quickly shoot her an apologetic look before turning back to Gold and asking her everything about her partner.
"Cloud, I love you but you are literally going to make her brain explode if you don't slow down," Bree says after a minute of me asking Gold questions nonstop. I shut my mouth and smile sheepishly, looking down at my lap.
"He's really nice and you'll meet him today at the party," Gold says to us. Queen Jaguar came to Earth for a bit a couple days ago and told us that she's throwing a party, she said that Gold would tell us what it was for when we get to the kingdom.
"So what's the party for anyways? Your mom never told us," Bree asks Gold. I lean my head on my hands and watch as Shepard and Gold share a confused look before turning back to us.
"Humans don't throw parties when someone gets a partner?" Shepard asks. I shake my head no and Bree tells them that humans usually go through at least ten partners before they settle down and get married. Gold looks at her as if she's grown two heads as she explains the human customs.
"Well, in America at least," I say once Bree stops talking. She nods while Gold and Shepard look at each other in awe. They ask questions about other countries on Earth and we answer them to the best of our ability, telling them of the customs and such.
"The Queen has requested your presence at the party," a golden lab says from the doorway. I check my watch and see that there's only a few minutes until we are supposed to be downstairs to help set up the party.
"Thank you Wags," Shepard says to the lab. Wags nods and walks out of the room. I get off the bed and we follow Gold and Shepard downstairs to where the Queen is setting up the party with a black panther.
"Oh, hello my love!" He says as he turns around and sees Gold standing there. He runs over and nuzzles her neck with his nose before turning to where me and Bree are standing with Shepard. He looks me and Bree over for a minute before walking over.
"Humans?" He asks us. I nod and raise my arm, showing him the bracelet that I have on my wrist. He stares in shock for a minute before smiling at us.
"You two are the ones who brought Gold home! Thank you!" He says to us. I nod and Bree smiles at him, asking him how he knew Gold. Apparently he was Gold's playmate before the whole war started and he's always had a crush on her.
"He was absolutely devastated when we had to leave Lion on Earth," the queen says as she walks by us with streamers hanging from her back. I smile and laugh at the sight of the queen carrying all the streamers before going over to help her put them up.
"Thank you Cloud," she says to me. I nod and walk back over to Bree, sitting down on the floor next to her. She picks up my hand and laces our fingers together as we watch a bunch of dogs and cats walk in with balloons.
"The party is supposed to start in ten minutes," she says as we watch everyone put the finishing touches on the decorations. Gold and Panther are talking to Shepard as he stands next to his boyfriend. The pitbull smiles happily as they all talk and laugh.
I turn away from them and look around the room, seeing Spots setting up a few tables with the help of some other cats. I smile and remember when we asked the queen to take him back and her being happy to have him. A few people set out food on one of the tables and I feel my mouth start to water.
"I'm heading over there once the party starts," I whisper to her, pointing at the table full of food. She bursts out in laughter, her head tilted back towards the ceiling and her eyes closed. I smile and take in how absolutely stunning she looks.
She stops laughing when she realized that I'm staring at her and turns towards me. I smile at her and gently pull her closer, kissing her softly on the lips. I pull back after a few seconds and see her blushing and trying to form some sort of sentence.
I stand up from the ground as cats and dogs start walking in, as well as some animals from other kingdoms. I look down at Bree who's sitting on the floor and looking up at me, still speechless. I offer her my hand and smile softly.
"Let's go get some food love," I tell her as she takes my hand and laughs softly.
