"You like her don't you?" Gold asks me as we walk on one of the past around the palace. I stop abruptly and state at her, watching her laugh at me. She nudges me in the arm with her nose and rolls her eyes, walking off.
"It's really obvious that you two like each other," she says as I snap out of my shock and catch up to her. I told my head to the side as she says that Bree likes me too. She laughs and we keep walking down the path, passing by some reptiles occasionally.
"So, when are you going to ask her out?" Gold asks me. I look over at her in shock and slap her lightly on the shoulder as she stares at me, deadly serious. I shrug and look ahead of me, shoving my hands into my pockets as we walk.
"I don't know. I mean, why would she want to date a nonbinary person? I mean, would she even be willing to? She could be straight," I think our loud. Gold looks over at me as I ramble on, and reassures me that Bree would definitely go out with me.
"But how do you know for sure?" I ask her. She stops in her tracks and looks at me. I stop too and wring my hands as she stares at me, an intensity in her eyes. She walks closer to me and sighs, nudging my chest where my heart is.
"If you don't ask, you'll never know," she says as she pulls back. We continue walking down the trail in silence as I think about what Good said. She isn't wrong, but I really don't want to ruin what me and Bree have, especially if we're stuck on a magical trip together. 
But then I think about Bree and how caring she is, how she thinks of everyone and remembers everything about me. The way her nose scrunches up when she laughs and the way her face brightens when she's happy.
She never even batted an eye when it came to helping Gold and she's been my best friend for months now because of Gold. I look over at the lion and see her watching one of the lizards who is balancing a basket of apples precariously on one of their arms.
And in that moment as me and Gold are walking down the pathway watching the lizard balance the apples, I realize that I really want to ask Bree out. Gold turns to me and seems to know what I'm thinking. We keep walking for a while before stopping in front of a garden.
"If you decide to ask her, you should do it here," Gold tells me. I look into the garden and see all the flowers and plants around the area. There's a small lake with a bench in the middle of the garden. A few reptiles are inside, some working on the gardens and others enjoying it.
I turn back to Gold and nod, deciding that the gardens would be the best place to ask Bree out. We walk away from the gardens, Gold and I talking about what I should bring to the gardens when I ask Bree out, deciding that a picnic at night would be really cool.
"So when are you going to ask her?" Gold asks me. I look over at her and see her beaming up at me with the pride of a mother. I smile and pat her head, looking around as we walk back into the palace. I see a gecko with a bag of flour walk by and I follow them.
"Tonight, " I reply as we follow the gecko to, what I'm hoping is the kitchens. We walk into a dining area of sorts that has a bar where you can look into the kitchens. I sit down on one of the rocks and Gold sits down beside me, the both of us gaining the attention of one of the cooks on duty.
"How many I help you?" She asks us. I tell her about the picnic and she nods, handing me a piece of paper to write down what I want in the picnic basket. I wrote it all down and slip the paper back to her, watching as she reads over it.
"Okay. I will put the picnic basket out there just before the sun sets," she tells me. I thank her and we walk out of the kitchen and back up to our rooms. I tell Gold not to tell Bree about it as we walk up the stairs and she nods.
I open the door to our room and walk inside, seeing Bree lying on our bed and playing a game on her phone. There isn't any data on these planets but Bree has a few games on her phone that she can still play that don't require data.
She looks up at me and Gold as we walk in, setting her phone down on the bed beside her. I sit down next to her and lay in my back, stating up at the ceiling as she and Gold talk about our walk, Gold leaving out the parts where we talked about me asking her out.
Bree puts a hand on my knee as she talks to Gold and I blush slightly, moving my head so that my left cheek is on the bed and the blush, at least on that cheek, can't be seen. Gold smiles at me knowingly and their conversation drifts off.
I wonder what my mom would say if she knew I like Bree. I know she would be accepting but Bree's only been over a few times and my mom doesn't know her very well. I start to think about Earth and if days are still going by as we are on other planets.
"A penny for your thoughts?" Bree asks me. I sit up and stretch, before looking over at her, seeing her smile at me, the corners of her eyes wrinkling. I involuntarily smile back at her before growing as I realize that our parents may be looking for us and don't have a clue where we are.
"Do you think the days are going by on Earth and that our parents are panicking because they don't know where we are?" I ask her. She starts to drown slightly before we hear Good laugh from the cat bed in the corner of the room.
Nobody will notice you are gone. It's part of the bracelets' job, " Good reassures us. I nod and state back at the wall, trying to gather up the courage to ask Bree to go to the gardens with me later today. I wrong my hands together and look at her, smiling nervously.
"Would you like to have a picnic at the gardens later?" I ask her. She nods and goes to ask Gold if she wants to come but Gold shakes her head no, telling Bree that she needs to go talk to some people and find out when we are going to see the queen.
Bree nods and leans back on the bed, her head lying on one of the pillows. I sit up and take my phone out of one of the saddle bags, turning it on and deciding to play a game while I wait for it to be time to take Bree to the gardens and ask her out.
