Chapter Twelve- YOU DID WHAT
"I'm starving," I groan as the twins and I walk to the counter. I get to the one next to them and quickly order. "Can I have the A lunch?" The lady nods and gives me a tray.
"I'll have the A lunch," The twins say from beside me. I groan knowing another fight would start. "No, give me the B pasta and the D salad! I'll take the F capellini with the barbarie duck! Hold on, make it a foie gras in perigueux sauce!"
"Oi," I groan.
"Stop copying me! Why don't you just leave me alone?" They yell.
"I was wondering what all the fuss was about," I hear. I turn to see Tamaki and I chuckle.Oh boy "I can't believe the two of you are still fighting. You're a disgrace to the host club."
"Hey, look who it is."
"Oh, I love them."
"I've never seen all them together like that."
"We've had enough of this. You're both to blame for this fight. Hika-chan and Kao-chan, I want you to make up and go halfsies on this cake, 'kay?" Honey asks, "But I want to have a piece too. So I guess we're going to have to go thirdsies. We're not going to be able to split the strawberry on top, though. What should we do? Maybe I should just take it. After all, strawberry is all my favorite. Oh, I forgot to ask. Hika-chan, Kao-chan, do you like strawberries?"
"You're just making it worse," Mori says as he drags Honey away from the festering boys, "Leave them alone."
"Oh, Haruhi!" Tamaki squeals, "I didn't expect to run into you in the dining hall?"
"I was worried about those two.So, I followed them here without even thinking. I always bring a box lunch and I was just gonna eat it in my classroom," Haruhi explains. I take my seat at my usual table and pull out my book again.
"I don't care if my box lunch is in an embarrassing heart shape. I will eat it!" Tamaki yells. Hikaru sits across from me and points to the seat beside him.
"Haruhi, you wanna sit here with us?" Hikaru asks.
"Ah, okay," She says. I stab at my plate.
"So what's that? What'd you bring for lunch?" Hikaru asks her.
"Yesterday's leftovers and a rolled omelet," Haruhi explains.
"You wanna switch with me? I had to order something different than Kaoru, so I ended up with stuff I don't really like.I'd ask Y/n but she doesn't like this either," Hikaru explains. I look at his plate. Yuck, yeah he's right.
"That's fine with me," Haruhi says as they switch lunches. "This is really magnificent. I've never tried anything like this before." She takes a bit and blushes with a small moan.
"Hikaru Hitachiin hands up," I whisper yell thinking he had his hand in her pants. But nope she moaned from the food?
"Well played, Hikaru. As a reward, I'd like to trade you my lunch for your box lunch," Tamaki says.
"No way."
"Come on, trade with me."
"Forget about it." Kaoru sits down on the other side of Haruhi.
"So, Haruhi, is that any good? How would you like to taste mine? Here," He offers her a spoonful only for Hikaru to reach over and eat it.
"Quit butting in. Get lost, Kaoru," Hikaru says. Kaoru picks up his bowl and tosses it at Hikaru who pulls Tamaki in front of him as a shield. This causing another all out fight.
"I think I'm gonna go eat in my classroom after all," Haruhi says as she gets up and walks away. Soon the twins break it up and Kaoru eyes me.
"Hey Y/n you busy?" He asks.
"Well you threw my lunch," I tell him, "so nope." Hikaru glares at his twin who smirks.
"Wanna go to the library with me?" Kaoru asks.
"Sure," I shrug as I put my book in my bag. He takes my hand and leads me away from his twin quickly. Once we reach the library he lets go and sighs. "So you're dragging me into this because?"
"Haruhi can't be our only pawn," Kaoru says, "its not as effective." I roll my eyes and walk to the my favorite section picking up one of the books I loved so much. I hand it to Kaoru. He looks at me and shrugs.
"What?" He asks.
"Read it," I tell him, "so we have something to talk about."
"Why can't we talk about you're huge crush on my brother," He teases. I pull another book off the shelf and raise it over my head and smack it down as hard as I can on his. Making him wince. "Ow okay fine we won't."
"Yeah," I say, "read the damn book."
*****
Tamaki had called a meeting of the host club members minus the twins. So Kyoya was calculating the numbers of everything. "Looking at the numbers, if the situation isn't resolved, I'm afraid we're going to have to stop offering our brotherly love package. We're down one pair of loving brothers," Kyoya says, "Oh, Haruhi, I just want you to know there's no reason for you to feel responsible. Even though it was your tactless comment that started this whole feud between the twins in the first place, right?"
"It's weird for Hika-chan and Kao-chan to be fighting like this, It's never happened before," Honey says.
"They've never fought before?" Haruhi asks.
"Never," I tell her, "he came to me the other night worried about it."
"I've known Hika-chan and Kao-chan since we were in pre-school. We weren't in the same year, so I never really got to talk to them," Honey says, "But I remember that the two of them always played together."
"Yeah, that's true. I mean, I've only known the twin since they were in middle school, but they definitely stood out. It seemed like they kept everyone at a distance except each other. Believe it or not, they were even more warped back then. When you stop and think about it, maybe this fight is a good thing for them. Maybe it means that the twins are expanding their horizons a bit. We should just leave them alone and let them work it out," Tamaki says.
"Who knows? Maybe it is a turn for the better. But if this really is their first fight, they probably need someone to tell them when it's time to give in and call it quits. And if they've never fought before, would they even know how to make up?" Haruhi says.
"Twins work differently than normal sibblings or whatever," I tell them, "espessically with things like this. They are so used to being another half that when that half disapeers or gets upset. You feel lost. And even if you do want to get away you can't because you feel like you are the same."
"You seem to know an awful lot about this," Haruhi says.
"Haruhi no-" Tamaki starts.
"How peculiar," I say as I get up. I leave the group hearing Tamaki sigh as I leave.
Haruhi's POV
"What was that about?" I ask them.
"Y/n~chan had a twin sister growing up," Honey says, "she passed when she was in middle school."
"Oh-" I start.
"We don't talk about it," Tamaki says, "not around her. It brings her back to a bad place. And while she might be a host, it is our job to make every girl we can happy."

Reader POV
"Kaoru what do you want?" I ask the blue haired boy as he follows behind me.
"You're a pawn remember," Kaoru says, "you agreed."
"Oh no no no no," I say, "I never agreed I just didn't argue because it was pointless." We make our way through the hall him close behind me,
"So I read that book," He says.
"Really?" I ask.
"I hate it," He admits, "its slow and boring. And why does she end up with that girl at the end."
"Its not slow, and she ends up with her because she is her soulmate," I inform him, "its a beautiful book about acceptance in a non accepting environment."
"No its like some stupid gay fanfic," He groans.
"Love and acceptance Karou!" I yell, "see Tana is engaged to Han due to society norms so meeting Kanokasa set her to realize that she isn't wrong for how she's been feeling her whole life! It shows their pain and struggles of acceptance and- Did you put in your earbuds?"
"Huh? Oh yeah yeah its great," He mumbles. I yank on the wire of his ear buds ripping them out.
"I hate you Kaoru," I say, "you're such a jerk sometimes."
"I'm just not interested," He shrugs. I roll my eyes at him then pull another book from my stash.
"Here its a book about this girl who disguise herself as a man and fights in a war like a badass. No romance, no acceptance. Just her fighting," I tell him, "see if thats more up your alley."
"Fine," He groans. He links our arms together as we open the doors into the host club. Hikaru scoffs as he sees us.
"What are you doing Kaoru?" Hikaru asks harshly. His twin lets go of my arm and smirks.
"Escorting a lovely lady to our club," Kaoru says as I walk to where the other hosts were huddled. "You know, that thing you don't have the guts to do."
"Why can't you just leave things alone?!" Hikaru yells as he tosses a cake at his twin. Another fight starts of things being tossed and words being screamed.
"Why are you egging this on?" Tamaki asks me.
"I'm not I was talking to Kaoru about books," I tell them, "then he got all weird. Then Hikaru got weirder."
"Oh you poor innocent being," Tamaki says.
"Y/n~chan you really don't see it?" Honey asks. I shrug.
"See what?" I ask.
"Oh the ignorant bliss in this club is amazing," Kyoya mumbles.
"Ignorant bliss?!" I yell, "I'll have you know that I am literally barely behind Haruhi for top of the class!"
"I know," Kyoya says, "congratulations."
"Better be congratulating me," I huff.
"Don't you guys think that maybe it's time you give up all this fighting?" Tamaki asks holding his head in frustration, "It's driving me insane."
"What'd you say? It's driving you insane?" Hikaru asks.
"Oi Tamaki you've done it," I groan.
"You've gotta be kidding me," Hikaru groans, "How do you think I feel right now? Every time I look in the mirror, I see his face. I'm sick and tired of constantly being mistaken for you, Kaoru! The truth is I hate your guts!"
"You took the words right out of my mouth," Kaoru says as he reaches into his jacket, "In fact, I hate you so much I bought this, Belzenef, the curse doll. I'm going to complete the curse, Hikaru. I'm going to write your name on his back. From this day forward, you're going to experience nothing but misfortune and sorrow!"
"Would you guys knock it off?" Haruhi asks.
"Seriously!" I yell, "thats your fucking brother, which you're lucky enough to have one still alive and well yet you're tossing it aside. You don't know how fast people can be taken away from you! I would literally do anything for Adalena back! And yet here you both are living and you're being petty. Over what? Something as stupid as being mixed up for each other?"
"Y/n-"
"No Hikaru shut up!" I yell, "both of you need to apologize to each other. Now!" They exchange looks and Hikaru sighs.
"I'm so sorry, Kaoru," Hikaru says, "Even though I was just following our script, I said such awful things to you. I'm not fit to be your brother."
"Don't say that, Hikaru. I was so worried. I couldn't live with myself if I ever thought I had hurt you," Kaoru says.
"Kaoru, I'll never let you go again," Hikaru says.
"Script?!" I ask. They smirk ear to ear. I look to the other hosts and start to chuckle.
"See you get it," Kaoru says.
"We're sorry it went so far," Hikaru adds.
"You gotta be kidding. You mean you guys were faking it this whole time?" Honey yells.
"We didn't have anything else to do. We were bored." They say. I pull of my bag and toss it at them.
"Twins with too much time on their hands," Tamaki sighs, "are the devil."
"You assholes!" I scream, "you brought everyone into this stupid act only for it all to he an act! What the hell you fucking sociopaths!"
"Y/n," Hikaru says reaching out placing a hand on my shoulder. I roll my eyes and use as much force as I can to swing my fist at his face. Then at his twins. Punching them both in the face.
"I'm leaving."
**********
"Hey wait!" I hear someone yell as I head of to the library. It was the next day and I had been ducking and diving from the twins. I catch a flash of blue hair. As he catches up he smirks at me. "I read that book you gave me."
"Really?" I ask scanning the facial features. This was definitely Hikaru, not Kaoru.
"Yeah it was actually really great," Hikaru says. I stare at him a bit longer and chuckle. "What?"
"Blue's a good color on you Hikaru," I say, "but I liked the pink better."
"What I'm not Hikaru-"
"You guys screwing with your clients today? Or is this another joke Hikaru?" I ask. He gulps quickly.
"Why do you think I'm Hikaru?" He asks. I caress his cheek with my hand and notice his face turn pink.
"Whats my favorite book?" I ask him.
"Donaski," He mumbles, "but you could also argue for Moonlight." I catch a flicker of shine in his eyes and smile at him.
"You have lovely eyes Hikaru," I tell him, "now don't ever try to be Kaoru around me again." He sighs and nods.
"Of course," He says. I smile and hands me to book I gave Kaoru. "I just wanted to talk."
"I don't know if I want to," I say brushing past him.
"I'm sorry," He says quickly, "Kaoru and I didn't realise how far the joke would last. I mean the night I stayed at your house we were actually fighting. But we made up shortly after we meet up at school. I thought it would be funny. Turns out it wasnt."
"I forgive you but do anything like that again and I will end both of you," I tell him. He smiles regardless and nods.
"Great."
