"Speaking of trouble I heard you ran into Aki?" Kaoru asks. I nod.
"Aki yeah I ran into him while walking to my cabin alone last night, he was polite and gentlemanly, said a girl as lovely as me shouldn't be walking alone," I retell the story to them, "then he asked me if I wanted to go on a date."
"A date?" Hikaru asks looking over at me so fast I thought his neck would snap. "What did you say? No right?"
"I said not a date but we could hang out," I say, "besides Aki is a sweetheart. It be nice to have a friend like him."
"You don't need any more friends!" Hikaru snaps. He jumps to his feet and looks at his twin for support. "Are we not enough for you?!"
"Hikaru-"
"Shut up!" He screams, "whats with this stupid Aki guy. I thought you liked me."
"I do! Can I not have guy friends... I mean I'm in the host club. Filled with guys, are you jealous of them too?" I ask him. He shrugs.
"They know!" He yells back.
"What?" I ask him, "what do they know?"
"That you're mine, ours, not theirs," He says.
"I'm nobodies! I am my own person not you're property," I snap.
"I forbid you to go!" He says.
"You forbid me?" I ask him. By this point the whole dinning area was watching us, and the other hosts were panicking. Another huge fight between the members.
"Hikaru I think you should take it back," Kaoru says.
"No I forbid her from going to see Aki!" He repeats. Silence washes over the room before I start to chuckle.
"You're not my father Hikaru," I say to him, "you can't forbid me from doing anything. I am my own person you jerk. If I want to see Aki I'm going to go see Aki. If you had such a problem with it you should of walked me home. Instead of doing that whole competition to get Haruhi's attention. You like me you like her. What is it?"
"Whatever," He huffs, "if you go we are done. Not friends or anything."
"Over me hanging out with a friend?"
"Us or him?!" Hikaru yells.
"You're ridiculous!" I scream.
"Y/n, Hikaru can you take this outside?" Haruhi asks in desperation.
"No need, Hikaru I'm not choosing. But I'm going to see him tonight. As friends. And if you don't like it that sucks. Because I'm going with or without your permission," I hiss. He rolls his eyes and looks to his twin.
"Lets go Kaoru," Hikaru huffs. With out any protest he and his twin stomp off to their room. Leaving me thoroughly heated with everyone else.
"I'm sorry is this a bad time Haruhi?" Arai says. I move behind Haruhi and lay my head on her shoulder.
"No no," She says, "I haven't seen you since graduation." She leads him to a table and they sit. Leaving Me with Tamaki senpai and the others at a separate table. Although Tamaki was in his emo corner of despair and sadness.
"Yeah. You cut all your hair off," Arai says. Arai was a tall guy, dark brown hair. Very attractive. "That's such a shame."
"I don't think so. I mean, since I cut it, it has been easier to manage," Haruhi says
"So, how's Ouran treating you? Do you keep in touch with anyone from middle school any more?" Arai asks.
"Yeah, a little. Kazumi still calls me. What about you?"
"So, then he's a friend of Haruhi's from middle school, huh?" Kyoya asks.
"It seems so," I say pouting slightly at the earlier fight.
"You okay Y/n chan?" Honey asks.
"I'm going to murder the twins, or just Hikaru," I hiss as I pick at the table cloth.
"So these guys are all in a club with you," Arai asks.
"Host club," Haruhi says and points to us, "Kyoya, Honey, Mori, Y/n, Tamaki is over there and the twins that ran of earlier where Hikaru and Kaoru. The host club."
"Oh, is that so?" Arai.
"Hey, quit making more garbage I'll have to take out," She yells to Tamaki as he rips paper up.
"It's not garbage. I'm making a hamster home," Tamaki pouts.
"But Senpai, you don't have a hamster," Haruhi says.
"I'm not your senpai. I'm just an acquaintance of yours," He pouts.
"Wow, who knew you Ouran people were so funny? You know, it's such a prestigious school. I've always imagined that it was a whole different world," Arai chuckles.
"It's a different world, all right," Haruhi groans.
"To be honest with you, Fujioka, I was kinda worried that you were gonna have a hard time going to such an elite school. I'm glad to see you're doing well," Arai says, "Um, I mean, it's not like I was the only one who was worried about you. Lots of people were."
"Awe he's in love with her," I say to them.
"Yeah its obvious and desperate," Hikaru huffs as he sits at the bar with his twin. "He should stop."
"Hikaru!" Haruhi snaps
"Hey its no big deal, He's right. I did have a thing for you once. But who cares? You already turned me down, right?" Arai says.
"Huh!?" We all yell.
"Huh!?" Haruhi asks.
"Why do you look so surprised?" Kyoya asks her. As Tamaki stays in his frozen state.
"Well I didn't know..." Haruhi says.
"How do you not know you turned someone down?" I ask her, "wouldn't that be something you consciously do."
"Like you can judge," Hikaru huffs.
"If you two came down here to start something I suggest you go back upstairs!" I yell.
"You have to fill us in on this story, Arai. Now when did this happen?" Tamaki asks.
"Well, it was about a year ago..." Aria starts, "I found Haruhi and finally manned up and asked her out. And she said, 'Yeah. I wanted to check the application deadline, too. Let's go to the staff room together.'"
"Haruhi. You broke this innocent man's heart, just to get a laugh from some sick joke?" Kyoya says.
"Um... No. That wouldn't have happened. I didn't understand what he meant..."
"And I thought we were cold hearted," I tease.
"This crime is pretty serious, huh?" Honey asks.
"I'm so sorry," Haruhi apologises.
"So you're turning me down again a whole year later?" Arai asks, "Don't worry, Fujioka. I'm over it already. You didn't realize what I meant, so that means you weren't interested. But you know... I was always drawn to that faraway look in your eyes. And the way you would look someone in the eyes when you spoke to them. I liked that about you. I always thought you were special."
"You think that much of my little girl? Don't worry, I'll never forget your gallantry!" Tamaki says happily. We all sit at a table big enough for all of us minus the pouting twins.
"Wow! You guys went to Kyoto for your middle school field trip? How unusual that you stayed in the country," Honey says.
"Nah, it's quite normal for us really," Arai says.
"Well, I've always been a fan of Kyoto," Tamaki says.
"I can't tell you how many times I've had to tour the temples with him," Kyoya says.
"But they are lovely," I add smiling, "my favorite part of Kyoto."
"Hikaru, Kaoru! Get over here! This may be our only chance to hear what Haruhi was like in Middle school,"Tamaki calls over.
"Sorry, but I'm not interested," Hikaru pouts. I check my watch and look over all of them.
"Well I'll have to meet Aki soon so one of you can have my spot," I say.
"Ugh that guy," Hikaru groans, "But why? Why should anyone else even matter to you? I thought we were your friends! Are we or aren't we?!"
"Hikaru grown up!" I scream, "stop acting like I can't have more than one friend."
"You don't need another guy like him!" He screams, "you only need me!" I stomp towards him and slap his cheek. Leaving a bright red mark.
"I'm over you acting like you control me!" I yell. He gets up holding his cheek and runs towards his room as fast as he can.
"Hikaru! Wait for me!" Kaoru yells chasing after him.
"Their world is still so small. It's such a shame," Tamaki says as the others look to me.
"My life is picking up after their mess and you know what I;m done," I hiss. I stomp out of the building leaving the hosts behind me.
*****
"Aki?" I ask as I tap the tall dark haired man. He turns around and smiles.
"Hey," He says excitedly.
"Hey," I tell him. I pull him into a quick hug. After we pull apart he leads me to an ice shop. We order two cones and eat as we watch the people pass the shop. Everyone so happy and smiling as we chat about the host club and school. "I bet I'm not as much fun as when I'm being a hostess."
"You're less overly flirty.. but its nice to see you act like an actual human being," Aki says, "and its nice to know how dorky you actually are."
"Whatever," I chuckle as he watches out the window. "Its been really fun. But I better get back to the other hosts before they report me missing. You know Tamaki... he's really protective."
"I get it," He says. We stand up and he leads me out the door. "I can walk you back."
"Of course," I say. He links my arm with his and leads me all the way back to Pension Misuzu's. Once we reach the door I'm met with the other hosts minus the Twins. "Bye Aki.. I'll see you another time?"
"Yeah yeah of course," He says, "bye." He walks off. I look to the hosts and smile. I rejoin them, "how was hanging out with Arai?"
"Fun actually," Tamaki says, "we learned so much about Haruhi!"
"Fantastic," I say, "have you seen the twins?"
"No," Honey sighs. I nod. Stubborn brats.
"Actually..." Kyoya says looking behind us. I look and see blue approaching us.
"Hika-chan!" Honey exclaims. The ginger rubs the back of his neck as he approaches us. He reaches me and looks me in the eye. This isn't Hikaru. Ugh Kaoru.
"I was out of line," He says, "I'm sorry."
"Uh uh well I would totally belive that if I didn't know it was you Kaoru," I tell him as he freezes, "you didn't really think I would believe it did you?"
"Well I was hoping you would," He chuckles nervously.
"You know that I know you two better than that," I say. I grab his cheek pinching it looking for his cut. "Where did your cut go?"
"I just covered it up with some concealer," He says with a shrug, "I don't think Hikaru's temper is gonna let up anytime soon. He's no fun when he's like this, so I've got a small favor to ask of you. How would you like to go out with me tomorrow on a date?" The eyes of the host go wide as the anticipate my answer.
"Alright," I tell him, "I'll be ready meet me at the market."
