And So It Begins
5 months earlier
“Mornin Gregorio,” Sonja greeted her roommate while stretching two dogs following behind loyally. It was a day off after Pride's bar nearly got blown up for a third time. It was surprisingly quiet considering they live in a busy part of New Orleans, but neither women seemed to mind the quietness.
“Mornin Percy, what are your plans for today,” the New Yorker asks out of formality. It was the same routine everyday off. Sonja would wake up and take the dogs on a walk through the nearest park, then if Gregorio had nothing planned they would get comfortable and watch the latest cringey rom com on netflix and make fun of it then go out to party if it was Sonja’s turn to decide what they do for the night.
She smiles at her roommate as she clips the two dog leashes on their respective dogs, “Oh just taking the dogs for our morning jog, want to join New York?” It was playful, just like most banter that the two had outside of work, and it earned Sonja the same playful eye roll it always did. She knew Tammy preferred not joining her for the morning jog, it still being far too early for the New Yorker.
“No you and ya country dogs go ahead, once you’re done we’ll decide something we both enjoy,” she replies with fake annoyance. The ex undercover agent nods in agreement as she starts heading through the door Quiana and Gumbo following behind faithfully.
“First off I’m city mouse , and whatever you say New York, I’ll be back in half an hour,” she told her partner, before leaving the comfort of her home for the craziness and business that was New Orleans.
The city was bustling with activity as Sonja and her dogs jog through the street being mindful of the other people around her she was used to doing such, years of lies, and making enemies staying with her she had her gun if needed, but usually it wasn’t except on a case. “Come on guys let's go home, I’m looking forward to making some coffee, and watching some TV,” she told the two dogs gently tugging on their leashes.
“Excuse me ma’am may I ask for some help,” a voice suddenly spoke up startling Sonja, she turns to the man and instantly red flags are flying. The man was tall and broad, he could out muscle her easily and there was no hiding the holster on his waist and there was a white van with no windows sitting there as if waiting for him this was sketchy to say the least. Both of her dogs seemed to agree and started growling to warn her.
“I’m sorry sir, I’m really quite busy. There is a visitor center over that way if you need help with directions,” it was spoken quickly and she didn’t even let him reply before walking off. She didn’t get very far though before she was yanked back by the arm. Startled, she punched him but his grip held firm. “You don’t know who you’re dealing with buster,” she snaps, but the man didn’t seem fazed at all.
“It wasn’t a suggestion Special Agent Percy, you’re coming with us,” The man says grabbing two leashes of her dogs both snapping at him, “I would warn you to tell them to stand down,” he spoke again as he puts the beagle in the back of the car, meanwhile Quiana her loyal and quite strong Akita was putting up more of a fight.
She sighs not wanting her closest ally hurt because she was protecting her, “Qui, stand down,” she warns and the brown dog turns to look at her confused. “Where are you taking my dogs,” she asks, tone cold as they load Quiana in with Gumbo, and close the trunk. Chris would come back and haunt her if she let anything happen to Gumbo, and Quiana would attack someone without her.
“Relax, they're coming with you, now come on,” the man all but growled pushing her into the back of the van. The van starts to move and Sonja fights the man as he ties her wrist. “So how much do you know about Montego Bay's Flight 828,” he asks and the NCIS agent let out an internal groan that stupid flight was still haunting her to this day.
“I know my boyfriend died on that plane five and a half years ago,” she replied harshly, glancing back to Gumbo knowing that it was still a hard subject for Chris’s dog…
“What if we told you he was still alive,”...

Gregorio was starting to get worried her roommate was supposed to be back hours ago now, and she has yet to reply she was just about to call Pride when instead she gets one from him instead. “What’s up Boss,” she asks, trying to stamp down her worry that maybe Percy was with him. The two were pretty close to one another; she was worrying for no reason.
“Gregorio you and Percy are not going to believe this turn on the TV,” he told her quickly and Tammy obliged. As the television buzzes to life reluctantly Gregorio’s eyes widen. The plane that had disappeared with one of their own five and a half years ago was back… LaSalle was back. Percy needed to know, but she was still not home. Had she heard about the news, and gone to the bar already? That wasn’t like Percy she would have at least called Pride if such news came up.
“Okay, but Pride I kinda got a problem here, Percy and the dogs went out on a run three hours ago and have yet to return, and she said she would be back half an hour after she left,” Tammy blurts out worried that this was all connected somehow. This was certainly a strange occurrence and she couldn’t stand the thought of her roomie being in any danger.
“ That’s not like her, especially with the pups it’s way too cold for them to be out there now that it’s dark, You scout out her usual places of residence. I’ll grab Sebastian and Skampi and we’ll see if we can scent them out, wherever Sonja is we’ll find her,” Pride reassures and Tammy nods they would find Percy, wherever she was…

Current Day
“I guess they’ve given up looking for us by now,” Sonja murmurs to her pups as she lies on the uncomfortable cot that was gifted to her by the very person that forced her to work this undercover op. The two dogs both seemed to sigh in agreement. Sonja had hoped that her team would find her, but it's been five months and she had a different alias; her name was pretty much gone.
“I miss our pup at least it wasn’t her that got taken,” her Akita murmurs the voice, a silky growl. The undercover agent freezes at the voice looking between the two dogs. Did she just hear her dog speak, did Quiana just speak? The undercover work had to be getting to her, she was slowly going insane. “Owner are you okay, you look like you’ve seen the ghost,” the dog spoke again leaning against Sonja, her broad head resting on Percy’s knee. Oh yeah she’s definitely been alone too long.
“I’m going crazy now I’m imagining you two can talk,” she grumbled. The two pups cocks their heads in confusion at what she meant before glancing at one another in shock.
“Wait you can hear us,” the beagle asks in hesitant disbelief and Percy curls an eyebrow in confusion. Before anything else can be asked or said, a knock rang out on the door interrupting the interesting conversation Sonja and her pups were now having. She turns to the door and lets out a sigh. A knock usually isn't a good sign.
“Hey Amber, we gotta passengers wanting to see you, get out here and make it quick,” the boss barks out his order. The ex agent nodded to herself glancing at the two dogs as she reluctantly got off her cot and pulled her hair back up into its usual ponytail.
“I’m comin bossy, give me five seconds,” she calls out quickly waving at her dog as she goes to the mirror to put her necklace on. She rarely took it off the necklace being a gift from Gregorio after LaSalle went missing, now the only thing left she had of her team back in New Orleans. “I’ll be back later you two,” she whispers the promise to the two dogs before looking into the mirror. Once again a different face flashes in the mirror, the mirror flashing purple before turning back into her.
“I have to be losing it,”...
