Passage 7
In a mountainous region, Mataka journeys towards her next destination. As she makes her way through the rocky terrain, she feels a drop of water hit her face.
"Rain?" She asks herself as she wipes her face. As she looks at her hand, she sees that the substance on her face is not water, but blood. The sky begins to turn black and a storm of blood pours down, covering Mataka in a shade of red.
"Red rain? I must be close..." Mataka says as she begins to run towards the source of the red rain. As she gets closer to the source of the rain, a spear flies past her, grazing her face.
"Ka'nakhu trash! Your little journey ends here!" Katu shouts with her sword in hand as her clansmate Ariou stands next to her, with her sword in hand as well.
"Inuta gave me the message you sent, I must thank you! Now I get to exact my revenge properly!" Katu says with intensity.
"I assume your friend is dead?" Mataka asks her.
"I gave her eternal rest, her journey is finished! Yours will end as well, but I will make sure you rot in the flaming depths of hell." She hissed.
"If I am going to hell, I'll make sure to bring you down with me!" Mataka takes out her sword and spear, and she invites Katu and Ariou to try and attack her.
"I have waited years to finally kill you, I will hang your head as a decoration trophy!" Ariou tries to attack Mataka, but Mataka swiftly stabs her in the chest. As she twists the blade, Ariou's blood splashes across the face of Mataka.
"Your fellow allies are dead, is revenge all you care about? You concern yourself with vengeance, that you neglect your fellow sisters. I warn you Katu, turn back..." Katu ignores the warning and she charges at Mataka, fueled with rage.
The two warriors fought as the red rain fell from the sky, covering their bodies in blood. As they cross blades with each other, Katu disarms Mataka and she stabs her in the side. Katu then kicks Mataka into a rock, stealing her spear from her in the process.
"For what you did to the love of my life... I now give you the same fate! May you and your tribe rot in the afterlife!" Before Katu could land the final blow, Mataka uses her fire whip to burn the eyes of Katu. As Katu shrieks in immense pain, Mataka uses her newfound Ice powers to freeze her in place.
Mataka then grabs her sword and she rams it into Katu's stomach. As the ice breaks, Mataka pushes Katu into a wal, pinning her in place.
"This fight is over, join your clan and husband in paradise. You can still find redemption for your soul." Mataka says to a dying Katu.
"You may have killed me, but the lives you took, will not give you peace. You will be haunted forever by the ghosts of the lives you have slaughtered... you are the things you have killed on this journey... a monster!" Mataka looks into the dying eyes of Katu, but her look is not what she is expecting.
"I may be a monster... but what you don't see is a warrior, who is ready to accept her fate. Your journey was for revenge, my journey is for something near and dear to my soul." As Mataka slowly walks away, Katu bows her head and breathes her last breath.
Mataka places her hand over her side to stop the bleeding, freezing the wound to dull the pain, while using her flame whip to cauterize the wound. As she slowly makes her way to the top of the mountain, Mataka feels a strong prescence in the air. As the red rain pours over her body, a bolt of red lightning strikes the top of the mountain.
Mataka stands up, but her posture is severely weak. As she holds her sword in hand, a figure materializes from the red lightining. Mataka looks on to see a man, dressed in red robes.
"Great warrior... you have made it to this hallowed place. You now face your final test." The man says. As Mataka stands ready to fight, The man approaches her.
"You have fought many to get here, destroyed all of your obstacles to get to this place. But, you are greatly weakened. You are at the door of death, you don't have much time left." The man says.
"So, you are the last beast I have to face, T'kru'Kaishi. So be it, I will complete my journey!" Mataka tries to lunge at the beast, but she is hit with a blast of red lightning. As she writhes in pain, T'kru'Kaishi viciously beats Mataka with his bare hands.
"Why won't you die? You have fought valiantly against the others before me. You have nothing left!" Mataka coughs up blood, and she smiles.
"I.. I wouldn't say nothing..." Mataka takes out her knife and she stabs T'kru'Kaishi in the heart, as lighting shoots from his body, Mataka uses her brute strength to snap his neck! She then violently punches the beasts face, until it was no longer visible. As the red rain stops and the sun comes out. Mataka takes out the small bag that she has been carrying.
"My journey has reached it's end... I am tired... I have carried this burden long enough." Mataka opens her bag, and she sends out the ashes of someone.
"For you... my son. I have regretted losing you to war. Your death haunted me, but now you can rest. Now, you can pass on..." Mataka falls to the floor, weak and tired. As she looks at the sun set, a tear falls down from her right eye as she lets out her last breath. Moments later, Mataka wakes up, surrounded by her fellow tribe members.
"Welcome home Mataka, you have completed your journey. You can finally see the one you have lost." The Elder of Mataka's tribe brings forth a little boy, who hugs Mataka. As Mataka cries, she hugs her son like she has never hugged him before.
"Pillamilya..." she says through tears as she holds her son.
