Chapter Thirty-Four

It's the last chapter, people!

Sorry for the long delay. I lost someone important to me in January and decided to spend some time off Wattpad. Thanks for your patience.

I am sad to end this book, but it needs to come to an end someday.

So, here  it is...I hope you enjoy.

Carson's POV

It's been over 2 years since that day in the park, and Rachel and I are happier than ever.

We're both 19 and attending college. Rachel is studying to be an English teacher, like she always wanted, and I'm studying to be a pediatrician. My teachers didn't believe that I was capable of achieving this dream, but they were wrong. Melissa had her beautiful baby girl. Rachel was so happy to have another girl in that family and went all out for the baby's birthdays.

Knock, knock, knock...

"Come in," I said from my desk, my lap's  light dimly brightening up my view of my textbooks.

"It's me," Rachel said, entering my dorm room quietly.

I chuckled and took off my glasses. I found out that I needed glasses recently. It was after I graduated when I backed up into a car. Apparently, I am short-sighted.

"Of course." I said, squeezing my eyes shut, and not turning around.

"What are you doing?" she asked, swinging her arms around my neck from the back and kissing my cheek.

"Uh, just reading up on the homework. What about you?" I asked, grabbing onto her arms and spinning around.

I faced her and gave her a big smile. She smiled back at my and started playing with my hair, which I had been trying to grow a little longer since high school. She liked it, a lot. IN fact, she couldn't stop playing with it whenever we're together.

"Nothing, that's why I am here. You wanna go out?" she asked.

I smiled at her and kissed her cheek.

"That's just what I need, these books are making my head hurt." I said, getting up and grabbing my coat.

A small box fell out of it and I quickly snatched it up before Rachel saw. I exhaled slowly as I sneaked it back into my pocket. I've been planning to propose to Rachel for the past 3 months, but never got the nerve. I knew she loved me and I loved her just as much, but my insecurities kept getting in the way. Kyle, Eli and I have been praying about it, and working through it. I truly do have the best friends in the world.

"What's that?" she asked, eyeing my hand in my pocket.

"Oh, nothing, don't worry about it. Go ahead and get your coat, I'm just going to fix something quickly." I said, trying my best not to let this slip.

She looked at me suspiciously and then smiled, leaving. I exhaled and quickly took the box out of my pocket and stared at it. I thought about it for a minute then decided to call Kyle and run it by him.

"What up?" he answered. I chuckled.

"Time, time is up. I have to ask Rachel tonight. Do you think it's the right time?" I asked quickly, watching the door for Rachel.

Kyle whooped and I heard a loud bang. And a whimper. I knew that Kyle had head-butted the wall, as usual.

"Of course, idiot. Ask her!" he yelled.

I heard commotion on the other side of the line and then a squeal. That was probably Melissa.

"Kyle, get your dad on the phone." I ordered, putting the little box back into my pocket.

"Sure thing!" he said and I heard a few loud stomps and then some soft talking.

"Hey, son. What's going on?" he asked me.

"I'd like to ask Rachel to marry me, is that okay?" I asked, getting to the point, not knowing when Rachel would return.

I heard laughing and then a: "YES!"

"Of course, Carson. I trust you with my precious daughter and I love you with all my heart. You have my blessing." he said.

I grinned and laughed, relieved and couldn't help the little leap of my heart when I heard his response. I was so ready to take this step in my life, and I knew Rachel was ready to. We had spoken about marriage a few times, and we knew that was our goal, but we never actually spoke about when it would happen. I think I am about to make the biggest move of my life, and having Samuel on my side has boosted my confidence.

"Thanks, Samuel. I really appreciate this." I said and saw Rachel at the door.

"I have to go, talk to you later." I said calmly and hung up.

I ran up to Rachel and embraced her, kissing her on the forehead.

"Whoa, what happened there?" she asked me, laughing.

"Nothing, just happy." I said, grabbing her hand and pulling her out the door.

Rachel and I pulled up to this small beach close to the college and got out. This had been our first date location since we started college. We always end up coming here at the end of all our dates, and we never ever get sick of it. Rachel said it kept her feeling peaceful about her studies and to me, it was the place I felt most comfortable, so we decided it would be our place.

"Thanks for the beautiful dinner, Carson. It was amazing." she said, grabbing my arm and squeezing it.

I kissed her temple.

"I love spoiling you, even when I can't afford it." I chuckled.

She laughed and ran off down the beach. I didn't run after her, but rather watched her running around in dark on the soft sand. I couldn't keep the smile off my lips. She turned around and noticed the distance between us. She looked at me, confused.

"Well, come on!" she yelled over.

I chuckled and ran up to her. When I reached her, I didn't stop. Instead, I swept her up and headed for the waves.

"Carson, no! I'm wearing a dress." she tried to ask serious, but couldn't stop laughing.

We ran into the waves and screamed as the ice cold water hit out skin. Rachel splashed water my way and I pushed her under the water. We played for a while, until we became silent and just looked at each other. I smiled.

"Look up," I said quietly.

She bit her lip and looked up, smiling like a mad woman.

A beautiful, mad woman.

"What am I looking at?" she asked.

"The stars, duh?" I chuckled and grabbed her hands.

She giggled and looked back at me. I looked at her and decided to make my move.

"Rachel, the God that made those stars has blessed me with the most amazing, beautiful and generous woman in the world, and I wouldn't want more than to spend the rest of my life with you. Now, I can't kneel because I'm in the middle of the ocean, but..." I said, taking out the little box, which was water proof by the way.

She gasped and looked at me with absolute shock. Her wet hair was all over the place and her beautiful blue eyes were wild. She placed her hands over her mouth and started laughing quietly.

"Rachel-a-bunch-of-middle-names-Cordero," I said, making her laugh.

I grinned at her.

"Will you marry me?" I finally asked her, feeling confident and more in love with her than ever before.

She jumped onto me, careful not to bump the ring out of my grasp, because that would be a disaster, and squealed.

"Yes, yes, yes..." she said, pulling away and looking at the ring.

The ring was a shining silver one, with a beautiful clear diamond in the middle with two small blue one's on either side of it. It shone in the moonlight, just as her eyes did. I carefully took the delicate ring out of the little box and took her left hand in mine.

"Oh my goodness, Carson! Is this real? Oh, Carson, how did you pay for this?" she said, looking at me concerned.

I slid the ring up her ring finger and kissed it.

"I took on two jobs, but it still wasn't enough, so the gang helped me out a little." I said, cupping her face.

A few stray tears ran down her cheek as she leaned in and kissed me. We had agreed that kissing was to remain minimal so that our wedding day would be special. This kiss indeed the most passionate one we had ever shared. I could feel how much she loved me just by the way she kissed me. I don't ever want to forget this feeling. Rachel pulled away and grabbed the tiny box. She hurled it to the shore and embraced me.

"I love you," I said, kissing her forehead lightly.

"I love you, too." she said back, her teeth chattering. I chuckled and twirled her around once more.

"Let's get out of this cold water," I said, grabbing her hand and pulling us out of the cold ocean.

We stalked back to the car, we got in and put on the heater immediately.

"Let's call your folks..." I said, excitedly, grabbing my phone and dialing Samuel.

He picked up.

"We're getting married!"

The End.
