You Belong Here
Chapter 7
The word car was an understatement. Jilli knew that they must be riding to Draco's in what muggles called a limo. It was huge and roomy. She sat down beside Draco across form Narcissa and Lucius. Lucius continued to just stare at her in silent disapproval, a hint of a sneer on his face. Now she could see where Draco got his from. Jilli avoided his gaze looking out the window. Narcissa was easier to like, she smiled at Jillianne in a genuinely friendly manner. Jilli realized then that she might learn a little bit about her parents from Narcissa.
Draco spoke-up excitedly, “Just wait until you see how fast we get home. This thing can literally fly.” Lucius sent a glare his way, which caused Draco to immediately sit up straighter and put a more serious look on his face, the excited child-like pleasure gone in a second.
Within minutes they whizzed down streets and alleyways and arrived at Malfoy manor. It was a huge and imposing stone mansion, showing all the wealth the Malfoy's had. Jilli had always thought her grandfather’s house was intimidating, but it was laughable compared to this place. Exotic birds and giant peacocks in every color roamed the place despite the snow covering everything. House elves rushed out of the huge front doors to grab their things and receive directions.
Once inside Narcissa asked Jilli if she would like to freshen-up or take a nap before dinner, which would be in a couple of hours. Jilli followed a house elf up to her room.
The room was very nice, done in the old Victorian romantic style, a purely feminine room. It had beautiful ivory silk bedding trimmed in lace with sheer lace overhanging the huge canopy bed. The bed and furniture were all a deep red cherry-wood. There was a vanity with a mirror and a wardrobe that the house elf was now hanging her clothes in and two full length mirrors lined the inside doors of the wardrobe. The walls were covered in a deep pink and lavender silk wall paper. Jilli opened one of the doors to reveal an antique bathroom complete with a deep claw-foot tub. It was all very lovely, and very wealthy looking.
Jilli hung her coat and slipped her boots off, running her toes through the thick ivory rug that covered just about the whole room.
“Can I get you anything mistress. Some tea and cakes perhaps,” the house elf asked.
“That would be nice,” Jilli sighed sitting down on the lovely bed.
The house elf quickly reappeared with a tray that she placed on the bed table.
“What is your name?” Jilli asked her kindly.
“It's Rosie, mistress,” she replied ducking her head as if she were afraid or in trouble.
“Thank you so much, Rosie.”
Rosie looked up at Jilli astonished, “You...you...are welcome mistress.”
“Please call me Jilli, all my friends do,” Jillianne told Rosie, well if she had any friends, after the hurt she dealt Harry everyone had been pretty cold to her except the other Slytherins and Neville, who was still angry with her.
“Mistress, I mean Ji..Jil...Jilli,” Rosie stuttered, having a hard time with the concept of using her name, “Do you know a house elf named Dobby? He is working at Hogwarts.”
“Yes, I know of Dobby, though I only meet him once.”
“Could you please send him a message from Rosie. Tell him that Rosie misses him and hopes he is well.”
“I will be glad to.”
“Thank you mistress. Oops, Jilli. If you need anything Jilli please call for Rosie.” Rosie smiled as she got ready to leave.
“I will Rosie, thank you,” Jilli smiled back, the house elf was gone.
“I see you’re already making friends with the help,” a voice came from the doorway and she looked up into Draco's sneering look. He came over and sat down on the bed near her, “When are you going to start treating those who are beneath you the way they are supposed to be treated. You are a pureblood, Jillianne.”
“Draco,” Jilli sighed, not wanting to get into with him, “it never hurts to treat others with a little kindness, pureblood or not.”
She used her wand to close her door, not wanting anymore unsuspecting visitors and then used it to pour tea into the two cups that were on the tray, “sugar, cream or both,” she asked not bothering to ask if he wanted any.
“Cream only,” he said watching her, not at all surprised she'd offered, that was the way she was. She fixed her own with cream and sugar.
“Thank you,” Draco said as she handed him the cup, her fingers brushing his.
Did Draco just say thank you? Jilli was picking up a delicious little lemon cake from the tray, a look of pleasure coming to her face. She quickly popped another in her mouth.
“Don't eat the whole plate,” Draco laughed as she reached for a third, he quickly snatched one up.
“These are unreal,” she laughed back.
“You know, Jillianne, you belong here, where you can eat lemon pasties whenever you want,” then Draco turned serious with his talk, “you deserve to live in a nice, beautiful home, and with everything you need right at your fingertips. Someone as beautiful as you should be surrounded by beauty.”
Her good mood was over. She got up and moved the tray away from the bed. Jilli had been reminded of what she had lost with Harry and the hurt and loneliness were coming back.
“Look Draco, you have no idea what I deserve, nor what I want or need, and really it is none of your concern. Right now I just want to lie down and be left alone.”
Draco had seen the hurt look that came over her face; it made him angry because he knew it was for Potter. But then it also made him feel something else that was alien to him. Jealousy perhaps. He'd never been jealous in his life of anyone as far as girls went, but with Jilli it was different. He also felt a strong pull to help her stop hurting and give him those beautiful smiles and passionate looks he'd seen her give Potter when they had been together. Draco had been attracted to Jillianne for a few years now, but that had just been lust for one of the hottest girls at Hogwarts, but there was more to it now that he'd gotten to know Jilli better. He wanted to protect her, but most of all he wanted her to feel the same things for him. He wanted Jilli to care for him the same way she did so many others, who were so beneath her, yet she treated them all the same. Draco was so use to looking down on everyone and everything, he didn't know if he could change, not to mention he had a father that expected certain things from his son.
Draco had told her the truth when he said he'd known nothing about their marriage arrangement, it had shocked him as much as her, but he didn't have a problem with it. He just hoped Jilli would come to terms with it. In the meantime he would do his best to make her stay with them a good one.
