An Unexpected Visitor-Chapter 27
An Unexpected Visitor-Chapter 27
“Good morning sleepyhead,” Nate called out to Jilli as she walked into the kitchen, the delicious smell of bacon and breakfast hitting her. Jilli's stomach rumbled loudly.
“I hear someone is starving,” he laughed.
Jilli sat down at the counter on the stool, eating the breakfast Nate had fixed.
“And I thought I ate a lot,” Nate busted out laughing as Jilli scarfed down her food. It wasn't long until Jilli was up and running for the bathroom. What was wrong with her, she couldn't hold anything down. And then I hit her, it was the baby. She hadn't been sick the first time, but obviously she was with this one.
Nate again came in the bathroom holding back her hair and wiping her face with a cool cloth until she quit heaving up her food. Jilli felt better but weak. She walked into the living room and lay down on the sofa.
“Jilli, do I need to get a healer?” Nate asked concerned.
“I don't think that will be necessary,” Jilli responded honestly.
“Is there something you want to tell me?” Nate already had a feeling what was wrong.
“I think you know Nate,” Jilli said, hoping he wouldn't judge her too harshly, “I'm pregnant.”
“I was suspecting it already,” he said honestly, “I assume it is Malfoy's.”
“Yes, it's Draco's baby,” Jilli defended, “and I will understand if you don't want to help me any longer, since I know how you feel about him.”
Nate came and sat on the floor by the sofa she was lying on. “Jilli, I'm not judging you,” he reassured her, “and I would never leave you on your own, especially over something like this. Afterall,” he placed his hand gently on her hardly round stomach, “that baby can't help its mother was foolish enough to fall for a death eater.”
“Hey!” Jilli said offended, but she was glad Nate wasn't leaving her on her own and he wasn't judging her or her baby.
….........
Over the next month, staying with Nate was a pleasure. He looked after Jilli constantly, cooking and helping her get over her morning sickness with the baby. Jillianne really didn't know what she would have done without him. Probably go crazy, because she still worried about Draco, and how he was doing, but Nate helped keep her mind off of her worries.
Except at night when the nightmares would come. They were horrible and some of them now had Nate in them also. She would either wake up covered in sweat or with Nate holding on to her where she had been screaming or crying out. Whenever that happened he would stay in her bed with her, sometimes holding her until she calmed down or fell back asleep. Right now Nate was her life boat, keeping her a float.
…........
Nate had to leave Jilli to take care of some Ministry business. He told her he might be a few days, but he assured her she would be safe. Jilli had Mozie the elf there with her, but she couldn't help being fearful of being alone without Nate.
Jilli was sitting on the sofa watching the T.V when suddenly she heard a flash in her bedroom. . That could only mean one thing, someone had just apparated into the apartment and she didn't think it was Nate. Jilli picked up her wand and slowly made her way to the door.
“Nate,” she called out. But there was no answer.
The door slowly opened and Jilli had her wand ready. Slowly Draco walked out of her bedroom. When Jilli saw him, she felt her knees give way and she was about to crumple to the floor, she felt so weak, but Draco caught her quickly.
They both sat in the floor and Draco just held her, she couldn't help the sobs, tears that wouldn't stop.
“Draco,” she cried, “you don't know how worried I've been” Jilli brought her lips to his, kissing him softly.
“I'm sorry I haven't checked on you sooner, but I told Mozie to come get me once you were settled somewhere. To be honest I was getting worried because it took her so long, but she told me she couldn't come for me until your new protector was gone,” there was a sneer in his voice at the last.
“Nate,” Jilli said, “he's Megg's cousin. He offered to help keep me safe from the death eaters.”
“So that's all he's doing?” Draco asked jealously, his Malfoy sneer back.
“Draco,” Jilli took his face in her hands, “that's all he's doing. I love you and if I could be anywhere it would be with you. I'm not going to lie to you, Nate has been good to me and right now I don't know what I would do without him and his help, but that's all there is to it. Besides, who in the world would want a pregnant girl?”
“You’re having my baby?” a look of joy on Draco's face. He grabbed her up in his lap holding her tightly, tears of joy in his eyes, “Jilli, you have to be really careful,” he was thinking about the baby she had lost.
“I will, and you don't have to worry. I won't be playing Quidditch any time soon,” she joked, trying to lighten him up.
“Does Nate know about it?” he questioned her anxiously.
“Yes.”
“Damn it, I should be the one protecting you. Jilli, it hurts so bad not knowing how you’re doing. I love you so and if I could be anywhere it would be by your side. It hurts knowing I can't be with you because of the danger it would put you in,” he said frustrated and angry, “and your being pregnant wouldn't really matter, any guy would still want you. Not only are you beautiful, but you’re a beautiful person that any guy would want.”
Draco looked at her violet purple eyes deeply, his beautiful silver-blues shining back. Jilli could see the pain, fear and suffering in them. The same was probably reflected in her own eyes.
Jilli could never resist Draco; she kissed him deeply, passionately. Letting him know how much she wanted him. And he kissed her back possessively, his hands tangled in her silky blond hair, drawing her tighter in his arms.
Draco wanted Jilli so very much but he couldn't risk seeing her for long because he knew his Aunt Bellatrix was watching him like a hawk. Especially after she realized that the girl crying out for him back at Hogwarts had been Jillianne and she hadn't captured her when she had the chance.
Draco broke off the kiss, “I've got to go,” he said sadly, “they are watching me terribly, and especially now that they know you and I had a relationship.”
“We still have a relationship,” Jilli said desperately, thinking about their broken marriage contract and his new betrothal to Asteria Greengrass.
“Jilli, I know that, but they don't. Since the betrothal was broken they aren't quite as suspicious, except for Aunt Bellatrix.”
Draco stood up, helping her to her feet. “Draco, please be careful. I've been having terrible dreams lately and I can't help worrying about you,” she said against his neck.
“I will, but I want you to be safe, and the baby,” he put his hand gently on her stomach which was hardly even round yet. “Take care Jillianne,” he kissed her deeply and then pulled her arms from him, “I've got to go before I'm missed. Do me a favor?” he asked before leaving, his little sneer back on his face, “Watch out for Nate, I don't trust him.”
“You don't have to worry,” but deep down she wasn't so sure herself, she did care for Nate after all, “where will you be? Are you going back to Hogwarts?”
“I'll be at home at the manor. I love you Jilli,” and suddenly he was gone, just like that.
