She's Mommy
Zoe and Danny's phone call.
"Hello?"
"Hey.. how are the kids?"
"They're all doing their school work right now. I'm staying close to Coltan cause he's pretty upset."
"I know he's struggling and I feel terrible."
"How are things there?"
"Well I had stepped out of the room to speak with Jessie's doctor and uh.. they gave me great news so-"
"Oh Danny that's wonderful!"
"It is! I'm so proud of her."
"What's wrong? I can hear it in your voice."
"Well while speaking with her doctor Bella had another seizure." Danny sighs.
"Oh no! Daniel, can't they give her something?! They can't just keep letting this happen!"
"Now that they're sure what's going on they're finally starting her on medication."
"So.. It's epilepsy?"
"Yeah.."
Zoe sighs deeply. "That poor baby just can't catch a break."
Danny rubs his face. "I know. She had open heart surgery at three years old. She has asthma, her legs are bad, she's diabetic.. it's not fair, mom."
"It's not. I'm so sorry, honey."
"I just want Jessie.."
"What exactly did the doctor say?"
"She's breathing on her own and she finally tested negative, and that she only needs oxygen when she's sleeping."
"That's great! Danny, I know this may sound crazy, but I think in some way Jessica can sense something is wrong with one of her babies, and that's why she's starting to come out of everything."
"I feel that too."
"Because there was a time when I didn't think this would happen."
"Me too.. I definitely think she feels something is off. I mean that's her baby. She has to know."

3 days later.
"No more shakes, daddy!" Arabella smiles.
"I know! None today! High five!" Danny lifts his hand.
Arabella gently high fives him.
"Let's finish coloring, baby. You can draw momma a picture and give it to her when you both get home."
"Okay.."
The doctors wanted Arabella to do simple tasks to see exactly how much the seizures effected her.
After her fourth one she was a little confused, but it didn't last long. Now they just want to observe her.
"Daddy!" Arabella looks at her father and laughs.
"What Princess?"
"You still got your mask on, silly! Take it off!"
"So you can see my handsome face?"
"No." She chuckles and nods her head.
Danny laughs and takes his mask off.
"Hand me the purple crayon please."
"Here you go."
"Thanks."
"Can I color too?"
"Here. You color on your own paper. Not on mine." Arabella rips off a sheet and hands it to him.
"Alright fine." Danny laughs.

Jessica's POV.
Jessica laid there groggy. She stared up to a nurse who came in to check on her.
"My husband.." She says in a very low voice. "My babies.."
"We've contacted your husband, Mrs. Huston and he is so happy you're feeling better!"
"I want them.."
"Soon! Just as soon as we get your lungs just a little stronger you can go home!"
Jessica had to take a small break before speaking again.
"Can I call him? My Danny.."
"Sure. Sure, if you're feeling up to it, we can call him."
Jessica immediately started to cry.
"I hope he answers." She says softly.
The nurse laughs. "Oh he will! Mr. Huston picks up right away when we call him with updates."
Jessica smiles. "My Danny."
The nurse gets the phone and calls Danny.
"Hello?"
Danny's voice played on speaker. Hearing him made Jessica cry. She missed him so much.
"Hello Mr. Huston, this is Rachel-"
"One of Jessie's nurses! Yes, how is she?"
"Danny." Jessica says softly.
"Jess?" Tears immediately filled his eyes.
"Hi." She smiles.
"You sound so good, baby! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh, I miss you!" Danny cries softly.
"I miss you too, baby."
"I love you, Jessica. I love you so so much."
"I love you too, Danny."
"Is that mommy?!!" Arabella asks.
"My Bella Boo! I wanna talk to my babies, Danny."
"Oh uh.. well the others um.. they're at my mom's. She hasn't gone anywhere and they wanted to visit so that's where they are! Arabella wanted to stay home with me."
"What? Daddy we're not-"
Danny nods his head and puts his finger over Arabella's lips.
"Oh.. well that's okay. Maybe we can talk later. Can I still speak to Arabella?"
"Of course!" Danny moves the phone then whispers. "Do not tell mommy where we are."
"Why not?"
"I don't want her to know you're sick. I'll tell her once she gets a little better. Pretend we're at home."
"Okay. Oh wait! But what if I get the shakes while I'm talking to her?"
"You won't, don't worry about that baby." Danny rubs her back and kisses her forehead.
Arabella takes the phone and smiles so big.
"Hi mommy! I miss you so so SOOOOOO much!"
"Aw Bella Boo." Jessica cries. "I miss you so much more! How are you?"
"How am I? Uhhhhh."
"Good." Danny whispers.
"Good! I'm good, mommy! How do you feel?"
"I feel so much better talking to you and daddy."
"Do you hurt?"
"Not really anymore. I'm just very very tired."
"How? You slept for the longest time, silly head!" Arabella laughs.
Jessica laughs. "I know I did.. gosh I miss you. I miss all of you. I want to home home."
"Mommy, don't cry! You'll start coughing! We'll both be home soon!"
Danny's eyes widen.
"I mean you will! With us! Cause that's where I am now! At home!"
"Okay, I wanna talk to mommy again!" Danny says.
Jessica laughs. "Is my big baby whining again?"
"Always." Arabella says.
"Aw. Well I love you so so much, Bella Boo. Kiss your brothers and sisters for me, please."
"I will, mommy! I love you more than anyone else in the whole world!"
"Aw my Princess!"
"Here's daddy."
"Okay."
"Hey beautiful!" Danny smiles.
"What's wrong with Bella?"
"What? Nothings wrong with her!"
Arabella hears that and face palms.
"She's fine!"
"I can hear it in her voice. Somethings wrong. Why did she say we'll both be home soon?"
"She's six, it was just a mistake."
"Daniel Huston, if you don't tell me what's wrong-"
"Someone is feeling better!" Danny chuckles.
"Daniel."
"Honey, my precious baby girl! Everything is fine! I promise you, sweetheart."
"Okay.."
"Do you believe me now?"
"I've learned not to believe you, Daniel."
"That's low, Jess. And I know what face you're making just by the sound of your voice. Stop making that face at me."
Jessica couldn't help but laugh. This is the first time she's laughed in weeks.
Jessica then began to cough.
"You take it easy, my beautiful angel."
"I'll try."
"Call me whenever you want, okay? I miss hearing your voice."
"I miss yours. I love you, Danny."
"Angel, I love you so much more."
"I better go."
"Okay. You rest up because when you get out of there I'm taking a three month vacation from these kids."
Jessica laughs. "Sounds good!"
Danny chuckles. "Bye bye, baby doll."
Jessica smiles. "Bye bye."
Danny hangs up and takes a moment of silence. That phone call was magic to him.
"Did I blow it?" Arabella asks.
"Nah. She's your mommy, she just knows when something isn't right."
"Cause she's mommy and mommy's are like super heros!"
"They sure are!" Danny smiles.

I have a very dear friend I met here many years ago. Right now her friend needs all of the prayers and positive vibes you can send!
She is dealing with this horrible virus.
It's not gone, you guys. I know a lot of people think it is or never even believed in it, but it is very real.
I find it incredibly offensive when I read on Facebook or hear someone say it's just the flu.
It isn't. Hearing things like that or hearing people say that it doesn't matter because not that many people have really died from it makes me feel like you're saying my uncle who passed from this doesn't matter.
Everyone who has had this horrible virus matters.
Don't be a Trump or a Ted Cruz.
Wear a mask and do your part to stop the spread.
If it helps anything at all to anyone reading this, Jessica would like you more if you would just do it! She's a very lovely Democrat who wears TWO masks and is more than likely vaccinated. Be like Jessica! 🤣
