"Eren Yeager, right?" The peculiar man asked.
I had been sat down in the biggest meeting room the facility had. The escorts were blocking the door, hands in their chests under their suits obviously itching to grab a hold of their guns and shoot me if I make any move out of order.
I was in front of a desk. A blonde man with a neatly slicked undercut and cleanly shaven face was gazing warmly at me.
". . ." I stared blankly at him, my face morphed into an emotionless state as I refused to reply. "I'll take your silence as a yes then." He piped up awkwardly. "Well a dear friend of mine has asked that I circulate you into my school system. But as I run a very top notch school for only the best of the best I'll have to issue you a test to see if you meet our requirements." Slowly he slid a flat piece of paper across the glossy table top, along with a pencil awkwardly rolling off of the sheet itself and to the left of me.
He smiled, overly welcoming if I might add, as I lamely took the pencil to hand. I exhaled as I boredly started on the paper, his constant gaze did nothing to intimidate me or make me anxious. This was extremely easy compared to the work pages I did in the college grade math books.
Five minutes later I finished and handed him the paper. He looked stunned before scanning over the results. "I-I don't believe it." He awed. A small thump of excitement sung through my body. "C-Correct, all of them are-" he abruptly stopped before jumping to his feet. The chair he had been sitting on flew back a few feet. His arm jerked straight towards me stopping halfway across the reddish brown desk. "Would you like to join the Scouting Legions highest ranking school!" He was determined about this wasn't he?
A small twang of pride resonated through me. Whether it was from Armin or Mikasa, I didn't know nor care, it still made me feel content none the less.
I nodded but his arm stood stiff and unwavering. I rolled my eyes before glaring at him successfully getting him to drop the limb. "I just need you to fill out this information sheet as all I was notified about you was your name, gender, and age." I stopped glaring and awaited the paper, the pencil had not left my right hand.
I was given the sheet and quickly started.
Name: Eren
Age: 16
Gender: male
Birthday: sometime 16 years ago
Mother: Mom
Father: Dad
Species: living
Dreams: can't remember any when I wake up
Random fact: I can breathe
When I grow up I want to be: alive
I handed him back the sheet, again. He raised one of his monstrous eyebrows at me. "This is very. . . Interesting?" He said well honestly it sounded more like a question than anything. "Can I at least get your word that you won't be a danger to any other students?" I snipped the paper out of his hands.
The black clothed escorts sprung into action restraining me. One held me against the table while the other had a gun cocked and placed point blank to my temple. "At ease." Erwin spoke instantaneously causing both to go back to their original places. Dumbasses. I thought.
A small, blonde, voice in the back of my head told me I should be ashamed to even think like that.
I sat back down and wrote in a fancy cursive letters, that Armin had taught me to do in, a blank selection of space. "I do not talk" it read. I handed it back to him. "Wait you don't or you can't?" I nodded. ". . .Okay."
I was next brought back to the cafeteria as I saw one of the loudest and most unbearable scientists take my spot in the meeting room. Hanji "psychotic" Zöe. I shivered as the crazed woman passed by me with a shinning light gleaming across her glasses giving her an even more mental look.
She tried speaking to me but I ushered past her with her words being the only sense of contact having been made.

It was times like these that make me sad to be alone yet grateful at the same time.
On the opposite side of the cafe were four groups of people.
One consisting of three men all in bland office clothes were laughing and joking with each other. I couldn't even fathom how a laugh felt now, nor could I remember how it made me feel to laugh.
The second group was mixed and quiet, a small chuckle every now and again.
The third was all girls who were happily gossiping and giggling to one another.
But the fourth, the last group had about seven people. Two of which were sobbing. The others were trying to comfort them. Everyone else simply ignored the obviously distressed persons.
"Humans are selfish, they love you one moment and hate you the next. They will only stay around you when it benefits then in any way, shape, or form. It could be you make them feel better about themselves or you give them something they want. But once that thing runs out so so they."
This, this was one of the things I can recall Mikasa saying. I wish I wouldn't have taken them for granted. Jeez I miss them now. All the petty fights they would get into. The rambling and how even though I would get headaches for hours upon hours I would still listen. I miss that now.
Mikasa Armin if your listening. I'm sorry if I did something wrong that made you react like this.
I felt a small burst of emotions rampage through my heart. Or where my heart should be, I am dead inside.
I'm sorry I couldn't handle not saying anything for so long! But my little baby Eren was apologizing for nothing just because we weren't talking to him! My baby I'm sorry!
Imbecile! We had a deal not to say anything!
But my-
If you say baby one more time I'll make sure you never take control again.
Like you could stop me? Brains over brawn.
Unless brawns beats your ass!
This was how I thought of a happy life. The bickerings, the rare occasions they would get along, and most of all the small conversations that fill the space between.
"Eren, I've been asked to fetch you. It's time to leave here and go to school." The voice from my daily attendant screamed from the cafeteria entry way. Lots of heads turned as I opened my mouth.
Should I tease them a bit before I go?
No
Yes
I smiled, bringing my pointer finger to my parted lips.
Lowly and ever so quietly I shushed them. The noise was barely louder than a squeaking mouse, and by their reaction it was as if they had just been sexually assaulted by one.
Idiots, acting like I just freezed Hell over.
But Eren if you only knew, that's exactly what you're going to do.
