Broken

Dear Kyle,

How are you? I'm writing this letter to you so that I can express my feelings to you before I give up on love. Our chapter of love was a roller coaster of emotions and experiences, and although you gave me hope, I'm letting it go. I don't want to live with love that will dissappear without a notice.

I remember our love story clearly like it was yesterday. Yes, I was only a teenager back then, with no experience in love. I was young and full of excitement.

Everything started when I was just a freshman at the Harvard University . I was one of the youngest university students of Harvard, and you, Kyle were my professor.

I remember the day we first met as clear as glass. On that day, I accidentally kissed you while tripping over my own shoe laces. You were hurt from the textbooks you were carrying, but you acted as if nothing happened. You were like my knight in shining armor. You just stood up and said, "Are you hurt? I'm professor Kyle. Please, come to my office after the lecture."

"Okay, " I replied, not knowing the mess I just put myself into. You were the center of my universe, but you weren't mine alone. I was just some girl you bumped into. There was no way I could get you heart beating for me.

The first time I met you at your office, you looked at me with your warm chestnut brown eyes and smiled. Your gentle smile made the fading fire in my heart flicker again. You said that you fell with me the moment you saw me, and I believed you. But that was my mistake. I shouldn't of believed you so quickly. I should've known that you would go back on your word.

Everytime I went to your office, I would see a different girl walk out every time. But when I asked you what was going on, you would always shake it off like nothing happened.

One day, I saw you. You were all cuddled up with some other student of yours. You even said that she was the only one in your heart.

My heart began to pulse faster, tears began to trickle down my face. Soft sobs broke the pin drop silence. I ran. My mind was mixed with a mush of emotions. Anger, sadness and betrayal.

The next day, I didn't go to your room. I was frightened and afraid to be alone. But, you came over. You called me and came over to my dorm. You said you wanted to talk to me. At first I refused you, but the more you talked, the more my frozen heart melted.

Finally, I reluctantly came out from the fear of being abandoned. Drops of cold sweat dripped down my face as you pulled me out of my room. You told me that what I saw was nothing and that you only said what you did as a last resort. But truth be told, I heard you say that to so many times that I lost count.

Everytime you hurt me, I felt my heart split into two. Ice spreaded throughout my body, freezing my soul from feeling any emotions. Even so, whenever you talked to me and smiled, my frozen heart would melt like butter. A gentle fire would build up in my soul, making me believe that I had a purpose in life and that love was possible for someone like me.

If there was one thing I want to tell you right now, it's thank you. I know, despite everything that you did, I'm thanking you. I'm not thanking you for breaking or leaving scars in my heart, but I'm thanking you for teaching me priceless lessons that I would have never learnt without you. I now know that things that sad and horrible things that happen to people shouldn't be forgotten, but should be learnt from instead.

I used to like you, I really did. But, I learned how to move on. So, I want you to move on too. Bye, professor Kyle.

From,

Saffire
