Chapter 24
I groaned and rolled my shoulders back, watching the guards on the outside of the cell. They hadn't moved in hours, just standing there.
My eyes wandered to the walls of the cell, wolfsbane melted into the metal to keep Venatrix from breaking out.
My mother was sitting in a chair in front of the cell, watching me with a pencil and note pad in hand. I felt like I was a lab animal and had just been injected with some kind of poison.
You know Raven is going to kill us right? Venatrix stated, as though she were bored.
Oh really? I thought she'd come in here with a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolate. I huffed at her.
I shifted around, the chains moving together seemed to catch everyone off guard, the wolves who were standing still before jumped around, aiming their guns at my head. I flinched away, expecting them to shoot.
"Stand down gentlemen," my mother said calmly and stood up, walking over to the bars of the cell.
"Mom, where is Raven?" I asked weakly, coughing up blood and spitting it out. Venatrix had somehow ripped a hole in my stomach that wasn't healing.
"On her way, why?" She kneeled down to get on my level when I looked up.
"I need to talk to her," I muttered. The door to my wing of the prison was opened and then slammed shut. I flinched away slightly at the loud noise, shaking my head and looking up when I heard footsteps.
I looked at Raven for a few seconds before looking to my mom and then back to my cousin.
"Lily, would you please leave for a few minutes. Take the guards with you," Raven said before kneeling down next to my mom.
"Of course Alpha," she nodded and left with the guards walking just behind her.
"I need you to do something for me Raven, promise me you'll do this for me?" I asked, looking her directly in the eye.
"Depends on what it is," she replied in a cool voice.
"I need you to break me, come on Raven," I practically begged her," if it doesn't work, Venatrix is going to kill me anyways."
"Are you sure?" She asked warily, standing up and reaching for the door. I could see her eyes starting to swirl red slightly. Ira wanted out.
I spat out more blood onto the floor and shook my head slightly before looking towards my cousin again.
"I'll get Venatrix, but I have one last question, please?" I said weakly, my voice sounding more venerable than ever.
"What?"
"Can... Can I have a hug? In case I never see you again?" I asked softly, looking down at the floor in shame. It really was the last thing I wanted.
I could tell she was shocked but slowly moved towards me and leaded down, wrapping her arms around me and rocking side to side slightly.
To my horror I felt Venatrix pushing me aside, and I felt like I was being choked.
"Raven, get back," I warned her, a growl already creeping into my voice. She caught onto the urgency in my voice immediately and stood up, backing away slightly.
I shook my head and growled but Venatrix made it through.
"Raven," she snarled, but Raven wasted no time, kneeing her across the face. Leaving a split cheek and dislocating my jaw.
"Alpha Silver to you," Raven snarled back, shocking Venatrix slightly who glared back at her.
"You won't be able to break me, not without killing Shade," Venatrix hissed but the threat didn't seem to faze her.
"That's a risk I'm going to have to take."

When Venatrix finally fell weak, I had several broken ribs, more scars on my body, some were still bleeding. I could see a bone sticking out of my left thigh and more blood falling to the floor.
I gave Raven a bloody smile, but she punched me across the face. Groaning in pain I coughed and shook my head.
I began to feel dizzy from blood loss, but something in Raven's eyes told me she wasn't finished.
It almost looked like she was having fun with this. But I couldn't blame her for that.
I cried out in pain as a dagger was forced into my right shoulder and twisted around.
I could feel poison leaking into my body as the dagger was left in my shoulder.
I gasped for air as the waves of pain racked my body.
Another blade was dragged across my forehead, sending blood down my face.
I could hear Venatrix snicker evilly and weakly in the back of my mind, and I realized with horror I probably would die before Raven managed to break her.
But suddenly, the torture stopped, I looked up carefully and warily at Raven who just glared down at me.
"That's enough for today, you've got the rest of today and tonight to heal as much as you can," she spat out and I flinched back, whimpering weakly.
"Y-yes Alpha Silver..." I murmured as she left.
She's an idiot if she thinks she can break me. Venatrix snickered as the wounds barely started to heal.
You're weak, and vulnerable, don't try to trash talk your way out of this one. I hissed at her. She grumbled but let it go, ending the link.
The guards came back to where they were before Raven came in, but I noticed that my mom wasn't with them.
There were voices beings raised outside the prison wing but couldn't make out who they were.
A few minutes later, Raven's mate walked in through the door, tossing me a rabbit. It landed about a foot in front of me and I glared up at him, the intoxicating smell coming from the food driving me crazy.
He seemed pleased with himself, placing his hands in the pockets of his shorts and smirked at me.
"Oh come on, you can reach it," he taunted me with a sneer.
I keep a growl down I. My throat and leaned down, trying to reach the dead animal.
Of course I couldn't, but kept trying, only humiliating myself more I'm sure.
"You know perfectly well I can't reach it you ass," I hissed at him, looking up to him as he stood outside the cell.
"Well you're going to have to try harder, it's really going to help you be ready for tomorrow," he remarked and then left with a smirk. Oh how badly I wanted to wipe that look off his face.
I growled and sunk my head back between my shoulders when he left.
