Once I got settled again I walked down to the Alpha's private library and opened the two giant wooden doors, in the corner was a fire place with two fuzzy black armchairs resting on a dark brown rug, the lights where low and so you could only make out the names of the books on the spine.

I walked over to the classified section and pulling out the books on mate loss and history.

Sitting down in one of the chairs, I opened one of the books that I picked out on mate loss and opened it up.

After going through almost all the books I had.  All I had found through about seven books was the same old, mate dies and the mark vanishes, one rejects the other and the mark disappears.  Though it seemed like the most likely option as to what happened, this results in the rejected mate feeling like their skin is on fire so I could cross that off the list.

The door swung open and Blackthorn came in and sat down next to me.

"Why are you here?  You've been here for the last five hours."  He chuckled.  I yawned and stretched.

"I know.  I've been trying to figure out why Raven lost Blake as her mate even though they never rejected each other."  I explained.  He nodded and got up, handing me a new phone, iPhone 6S.

"Happy really late birthday, we never got to celebrate it while you where in that fighting ring."  He smiled and I shrieked, jumping up and throwing my arms around his neck, when I opened the case I saw the skin of the phone was jet black.

We talked for a little longer before Blackthorn left for a meeting with his new Beta's and Gamma's.  To my horror, I found out that Loke had killed his mate, the old female Gamma.

When I picked up the book I was reading, I found the pages had fallen open to a different chapter, I couldn't read the title as it was very old Greek.

When I started reading my eyes widened.  It started to explain what had happened.

Lycans have a two mate bond, where their normal wolf has one mate however their Lycan has a different mate.

Most of the time, the person will only meet one of their mates but in rare cases the bond between the first mate is cut, leaving the person to search out their second mate.

I stopped reading and quickly dialed Raven's number, but she didn't pick up.

"Dammit..."  I muttered as I got the voice mail," Hello Alpha Silver, this is Luna White from the Shattered Pack in Russia.  I wanted to let you know that I found something you might be interested in.  Call me back when you have the time to talk," I said and paused for a few seconds," love you..." My voice was a whisper and I took the phone away from my ear, hitting the end button.  As I walked down the hall, I raised my eyebrows to the behavior of my pack wolves.

People seemed to eye me warily before bowing in respect. We never required for them to bow or show any physical kind of respect, but now they were.

Our time with Raven caused for the level of our power to go up so we wouldn't be falling to our knees everything she looked our way. Crimson explained and I nodded.

Fair enough. With that I ended the link just as I arrived in the small dinning room that Blackthorn and I shared.

I opened up a door to the walk in freezer and pulled out a frozen deer leg, placing it on the metal table top and began eating.

"Hungry much?" Blackthorn chuckled when he walked in.

"Yeah, a little. Reading is taking it out of me right now." I answered and he pulled up a chair. The house was small. The bed and four bath, the stories including the basement. Most of the time in the summers we lived in small dugouts around the territory.

"Would you mind going on a patrol tonight? I've heard the pack down in India wants to meet with you." Blackthorn informed me. I nodded. The Luna and I where good friends so I wasn't to worried.

"Yeah. Sounds good. Oh! If Alpha Silver calls back tell her I'm on a patrol, I found something she needs to see." I told him, we continued to talk, catching up with what had been going on.

"You're sure you'll be okay?" He asked me and I scoffed.

"Of course. Why do you ask?" I said and he relaxed so his back was touching the back of the chair.

"Because you are quite prone to almost dying." He stated with a raised eyebrow and I huffed, rolling my eyes.

"I'll be fine, you have to trust me Hun." I said with a slight smile.

He sighed and looked to the side, turning his head and dropping his hands from behind his head. I continued eating as a comfortable silence settled between us.

"Be ready at 5, the patrol leaves then," He told me, I nodded and got up," you gonna finish that?" He asked, pointing to the deer leg, I shook my head and he quickly dug into the flesh as I left the room, a hand over my mouth trying to keep my laughing down.

I walked from the room and into my old closet where I noticed all of my old cloths no long smelled like me.

Blackthorn, what did you do to my cloths while I was gone? I asked accusingly.

They smelled like you and helped me calm down if I was angry... He muttered and I chucked to myself, he sounded like a lost puppy.  I cut the link and looked over my different options, black, dark gray, light gray, and white.

I'm going to need to ask Raven for help in changing my clothing. I thought to myself as I threw on some black skinny jeans, momentarily forgetting that Raven wasn't here anymore and sighing in annoyance and sadness.

I placed my hands in either side of the drawer I had opened, staring into nothing for a few moments.

"Shade! Come on! Mom and Aunt Lily said that we have to go home now!" Raven called to me, I was swimming I the middle of the human pool, ignoring the darkening, cloudy sky above me.

"I'll be out in a few minutes! Tell them that I'll meet you guys at the car." I smiled to her, she sighed and sat down at the edge of the pool, shaking her head.

"I'll wait for you." She smiled happily and kicked her feet in the water lightly. I heard a growl behind me and turned my head to see a wolf standing there, his eyes swirling black and gold as he hunched his shoulders over.

I screamed as he jumped him the water and pulled me down with him, the air forced from my lungs as I tried to helplessly get out of his grip. His claws were digging painfully into my side and I saw red.

There was another splash in the water and I turned my head to see Raven, who had her gun out, pointing it at the mans head and firing it. His body went limp as Raven swam to me, pulling me to the surface.

"Shade, come on, stay with me, our moms are coming." She told me and pushed me to the side of the pool, helping me out.

Blood dripped down my side and Raven applied her small red beach towel to my stomach, trying to stop the bleeding and I tried to keep from howling in pain.

"Raven! Shadow! What on earth happened?" May asked, running over to me, Raven only moving her hand to push a strand of her brown hair to the side so she could see better.

My mom ran up soon after her with medical equipment to stitch the wound. May led Raven away as my mom nodded to her to take the towel away.

"Good job Raven, I'm very proud of you. Maybe you and I can get ice cream later tonight?" May said to Raven, kneeling down next to her daughter.

"Only if Shade can get some too!" Raven said, May nodded her head.

"Of course, we will get some for Shadow, too." May smiled at her and chuckled lightly as my mother finished the stitches, some pack members already arriving to take the body that was floating in the water away.

"Thanks mom! Chocolate for me and Shade please." She smiled.

"Wait, hold on, aren't you coming with me?" May asked, laughing.

"Nope, I'm going to stay with Shade, thank you." Raven giggled and walked over to me, helping me stand up as my mom cleaned up the medical things.

May and my mom walked out in front of us, Raven helping me to stand on my own feet.

I looked up at the mirror on top of the dresser and used one of my hands to flip my hair up, taking deep breaths to calm down. I owed Raven my life so many times over.

"Come on Shadow, it's not like it's forever. You've said it before, it's never goodbye." I hissed to myself, moving away from the dresser and pulling on a black tank top. I walk half worried that I might blind someone with how pale I was if I went on a patrol during the day.

"Shade! Come on! Patrol is about to leave!" Blackthorn yelled up to me and I smiled, running down the stair barefooted, leaning up and putting my hands on either side of his face, kissing him on the lips quickly.

"Luna, Beta Emerald and Gamma John are requesting that you meet them on the south side of the clearing." My male Beta, Josh told me.

"Right, thank you Josh." I said with a nod, waving to Blackthorn as I ran out of the house.

"Thank you for joining us tonight Luna, we are off to India then?" Emerald asked me with a tilt of her head.

"Correct, I believe that I have business with Luna Crystal." I stated, lacing my hands behind my back, giving an authoritative stance.

"Yes, let's get going then." John said with a nod oh his head, setting off into the trees, Emerald following him.

Damn, I forgot my phone back at home... I thought to myself as we grew closer to the border of India, I could already hear some of Crystal's border patrol wolves.

Crystal was beautiful, and looked like a very traditional Indian princess. She had long hair which was normally braided or up in a bun with various kinds of jewels and crystals dotting her hair. Her eyes were a mystifying golden/silver as well which had an enchanting effect on whoever looked into them.

She also had the very typical Indian style, and it suited her well. Her darker skin not having one imperfection. She would often wear a crown that came down over her forehead and went off to the side, vanishing into her hair. The thin chain of the crown had diamonds hanging from it, one large one in the center, just above her nose.

She would seem like a very snobby and snooty rich girl, but was probably one of the nicest people I'd ever met. We had grown very close since the first time we met, and liked to get together for tea as often as we could.

"Shadow! How nice to see you again Dear! How have you been?" Crystal smiled at me, giving me a hug as soon as she came into my view.

"Crystal! So nice to see you again! I've been doing well, I hope Blackthorn hasn't troubled you too much has he?" I asked, pulling away from her hug, giving a smile.

"Oh no dear, but I will tell you that he has missed you. I've heard that you were living with Alpha Silver! You must promise me that she never did anything to harm you." She said with worry and concern written on her face.

That bitch, how dare she even suggest that about our family? Crimson growled.

Be quiet you, people don't really know what she is like. Of course they make these kind of assumptions. I growled back at her, she shut up and I cut the link.

"No, nothing of the sort, I was just visiting. You know she runs her pack quite well?" I said with a faltering smile.

"Oh, well I'm very glad to have you back now, come, we have things to talk about." Crystal said, putting and arm around me and leading my into her pack land.
