The Final Hour

Elsa's P.O.V.

I awoke in a dark room.  I was wearing a draped black dress that went to my ankles.  I tried to sit up but I couldn't even do that.  I was tied down by my waist, wrists, shoulders, knees, and ankles.  "Where am I?" I asked.  My head throbbed from the shock and I felt awful.  "Hello, Elsa." I saw Hans staring at me.

"What do you want?  This will not make me love you!" I said angrily.

"I'm sorry, I thought bringing you here would make me love you." Hans said sadly.

"If you love me," I said, sounding stronger, "get me and Belle out of here."

"I'm afraid I can't do that." Hans replied, standing up.

"What?"

"There's a bomb that Pitch planted in my home.  It will buy us time.  Pitch, Malificent, the Stabbington Brothers and I are fugitives, thanks to you.  Criminals.  We are going to blow up the house to escape." Hans explained.

I started screaming, even though it hurt me.  "THAT'S PSYCHOTIC!  YOU'RE PSYCHOTIC!  NO ONE CAN EVER LOVE A MONSTER LIKE YOU!  HOW WOULD YOU FEEL TO HAVE BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS?  ARE YOU JUST GOING TO LET BELLE AND I DIE?  THIS IS NOT WHAT ILANA WOULD HAVE WANTED!"

"YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT ILANA WOULD HAVE WANTED!" Hans roared.  He grabbed a baseball bat and brought it down on both my legs.  An excruciating pain shot through me and I screamed in agony.  He might have broken my legs!  I couldn't run!  "HELP ME!" I wailed, "HELP!"  Nothing coud silence my cries.  Hans grabbed a needle with some stuff inside and injected it into me.  I felt like my whole body was on fire.  I sobbed and sobbed, "Make it stop!"  A weird taste came up in my mouth and I coughed out blood, splattering it on Hans.  He shook his head and ran his hands through his hair.  Tears came out and he stammered, "I-I love you, Elsa."  He bent over and kissed me.

I sobbed and sobbed, knowing that I was going to die.

Jack's P.O.V.

I was outside, guarded by a police officer.  Everyone was there and it was the scariest time of my life.  Anna, Rapunzel, Aunt Arianna, and Uncle Marcus were all crying for Elsa.  Merida was even letting her tears flow, and hiccuping and choking on them.  Hiccup rubbed her back and she hugged him, sobbing.  Gerald and Ciara South were concerned arguing with the police officers of who would be charged if the building blew up.  Earlier, Pitch Black, my high school enemy, had gotten on the roof and announced it to us.  If any police officer enters the house the building would blow.  The bomb has a sensor.  One hour from now, if no one enters, the building will actually blow with Belle and Elsa inside.  Right now officers were trying to negotiate with Pitch.  Anyways, Gerald and Ciara made me mad.  I balled my fists and went up to the couple.

"Is that all you care about?  Money?  What about two girls stuck inside the building?  Huh?  That ring a bell?" I yelled at them.  A police officer held me back from punching Gerald.  "Watch it, boy." Gerald hissed at me.

"Let me go in!" I shouted, "I'm not a police officer!  The building won't blow!"

"And get yourself killed?  No, I don't think so." Officer Hopps told me.  She lead me back to Anna. She was a mess, snuffling and choking and her face was as red as an apple.  "She's in there!  She's still in there!  How come no one's doing anything?" Anna cried.

I pulled her into a tight hug.  I was really trying to process what had happened.  What had happened?  This was the scariest time of my life ever.

"HELP ME!  HELP!"

I looked and heard cries coming from the basement of the house.  Elsa.  "ELSA!" I screamed, "ELSA!"  I ran over and Officer Hopps and Officer Wilde held me back forcefully.  "STOP!" Officer Wilde shouted, "You'll get hurt!"

The cries died down and I could faintly hear pitiful sobbing.  I went back to a chair and ran my hands through my hair nervously, heart racing like a horse.  I tried to wipe away my tears, but they just kept coming.  I then knew what I needed to do.  I got up and walked through the crowd to the edge of Hans' driveway.  My ears blocked out every noise and it was just me, staring at the house.  "I will search everywhere to find you." I whispered, looking over to the direction of Elsa's sobbing, "I'll hold you here in my heart.  I know who you are."

I ducked underneath the police tape and I said defiantly, "And I will bring you back."

I took off sprinting, up the driveway.  Police officers swarmed around, screaming at me to stop.  I kicked open the front door, and it swung open wide.  I whispered, "I promise."

And I entered Hans' house, determined to rescue Elsa.

Rapunzel's P.O.V.

As soon as Jack entered the house, I couldn't bear it anymore.  I took off sprinting, down the street and around the corner, all the way until I saw some woods.  I entered them and scrambled  up a tall tree.  I saw the scene of Hans' house.  It was crowded and chaotic.  I watched everything unfold, as I leaned against the main part of the tree, sitting on a high branch.  I heard the scuffing of feet below me and saw Eugene, trying to climb up the tree.  I jumped down and whispered, "Here.  Let me show you how it's done."  We climbed up the tree together, like children.  We sat on parallel branches, his arm around mine, no words spoken.

It's the final hour.  Who was to blame?  What was the end result of this journey?  All of us were at fault in some way, we all had a piece in the puzzle.  Knowing that my cousin, Jack, and another girl were about to die, that set me off on another course of tears, and I put my head in my hands and choked down high pitched cries.  Eugene out his arm around mine, and I looked up, to see warm, brown, eyes of sympathy.  I leaned into him.  He lifted my chin, and we kissed.  I loved how he was always there for me.  He comforted me afterwards and I blinked hard, fighting tears.  Silently, we knew that we both loved each other that very second.

It was the final hour, the time where our thoughts become our reality.

Jack's P.O.V.

I crept into the kitchen and saw the Stabbington Brothers dealing weapons.  They were mercenaries.  They were born to kill.  I couldn't defeat them!  Then I saw her, out of the corner of my eye.

Belle Beau.

She nodded at me and we exchanged looks of an alliance.  Suddenly, she took off like a deer and  attacked one of the brothers, sending them tumbling into a couch.  I ducked the swing of one of the brothers and managed to kick his shin.  I took off as he hopped in pain, and grabbed a gun.  He grabbed his.

I shot first.

He fell back, screaming because I shot his shoulder blade.  Blood shot out everywhere.  I gasped and looked at my hands, which were splattered with his blood.  Did this make me a criminal?  If I wanted to, I could have killed him.

I peeked over the couch and saw Belle, unconscious and on the floor.  I shook her awake and she sat up woozily.  She had a huge gash on her forehead.  "Get out of here." I said, "Now."

"What about you?"

"I'm gonna get Elsa."

Belle bit her lip and dragged the first Stabbington Brother outside.  I clamped my hand over the other one's mouth and I threw him outside too.  Belle walked to the end of the driveway, where she was escorted to an ambulance and placed on a stretcher, where her wounds were tended to.   I continued forward, feeling braver.

Two down, only three to go.

Anna's P.O.V.

Jack actually defeated some of them!  When I saw the two brothers on the ground outside I wanted to jump for joy, but I didn't because I remembered Elsa was still inside.  But Belle got out.  I went to her ambulance and saw a paramedic applying a piece of gauze to her forehead.  "Excuse me, Miss Delle, you can't be here." Officer Wilde put out a hand to block me from going any further.

"No." Belle said sharply, but softened, "Please.  Let her.  I need to talk to her."

"Okay, fine, Miss Beau." Officer Wilde said stubbornly.

"Are you her sister?  Wynter Storm, and/or Elsa Delle?" Belle asked me.

"Yes."

Belle wrapped her arms around me and hugged me.  She started crying and said shakily, "S-she was so brave!  W-w-we put a message in her- her music song thing, and P-Pitch got mad, and h-he w-was going to kill me!  E-Elsa took my p-p-place and she could've died, but Hans loves her too much!  He took her in the basement, and I was left in t-the cage!  I h-haven't seen her since!  I-I-I escaped t-the cage by picking a lock, and oh my gosh I'm so sorry!  It should have been me!"

"It's okay." I said, hugging her back.  Suddenly, we were seperated.  "Sorry, this place is gonna blow in half an hour." Chief Bogo was there, hands on my shoulders, "We need to evacuate the place."

"But my sister's still in there!" I wailed, trying to run.

"All you can do now is hope." Chief Bogo said, and a single tear fell down his cheek.  "C'mon we have to go."

Jack's P.O.V.

*Flashback to the first day of school*

"Good-bye, Jack!  Have a wonderful day at school!" Mom said.

"Bye, Jackie!" Emma, my little sister cried.

I slammed the car door and walked up the steps to high school.  Immediately I saw Hiccup in shorts and a red T-shirt, with Nike sneakers.  "Hiccup, yo man!  I missed you, buddy!" I cried, hugging him.  I can lift him up because even though he is tall, I am taller, and I swung him around.  I'm the tallest out of all my friends.  "Ah!  Put me down!" Hiccup joked.  I did.  We walked into the school together and Hiccup asked, "Did you hear?  Elsa has her kid sister at school today!  Freshmen.  Remember Anna?  The girl Elsa introduced us to like five thousand times last year?" Hiccup asked.

"Elsa seems that she wants us to like Anna." I stated.

"Well, what's not to like?  She's so bubbly, and lively, and vibrant!  Unlike her sister, Els-" Hiccup was interrupted by a scream.  We turned a corner to a hall of lockers and saw Pitch shoving Elsa into a locker.  Her hair was in pigtails, and she had red plaid shorts that went down to her knees, a red shirt that was obviously a man's, and dirty sneakers.  What a weird outfit for a girl who used to dress very uniquely and stylish.  Anyway, she tried to move forward at Pitch, and he shoved her back into the locker, papers from her binder going everywhere.  A crowd that gathered laughed.  "Stop!" Elsa cried.

"What's the magic word?" Pitch taunted.

"Please?" Elsa pleaded.

"No thank you." Pitch threw her on the ground.  "No one likes a nerd like you.  You had potential, but that was taken away when you became a... Slug."  He grabbed Malificent and some other girl follower of his and he walked off.  Elsa sniffled and I went over to help her.  She crawled away and gathered her stuff, "Go away!" she cried.

"Elsa..."

"No!  No one likes a nerd!  Go hang out with Anna or something!" Elsa snapped.  I put my arm on her shoulder.  "I'll always be here for you, Els."

Elsa hunched over and slunk away.  As she walked off, I turned around and went the opposite direction.  As I was about to walk, I stopped, because faintly, I heard, "I know."

*Present day*

I heard the cries coming from the basement.  I quickly made my way to the stairs.  I went down the first few steps, when suddenly a shadow came out of nowhere and kept in front of me.

Pitch Black.

"I've got to say that's mighty brave of you, going after Elsa like that." Pitch's golden eyes glittered at mine.  I curled my hands tighter on my gun.  "You better not hurt her!" I said, trembling in anger.

Pitch flashed a wicked grin, "Too late.  I have seen that you neutralized my mercenaries.  Well, good for you.  Yet, I.  Still.  Win.  For in about twenty minutes and... Forty-seven seconds, this building will blow.  During that time we will make a mad escape out the back in the van, out and far, far away."

"Why are you telling me this?" I asked.

"Because you'll be too dead to tell anyone!"  And with that, Pitch pulled out a knife and lunged at me.  I dodged and he tripped and went sprawling on the floor.  He swung a punch at my face, which felt like a brick when it hit me.  I stumbled into the wall, in pain, dropping my gun.  As he came at me again, I managed to kick him in the stomach, launching him backwards and the knife out of his hands.  We were now in a fist fight, and we had moved into the living room, circling a coffee table, ready to fight.  We met each other at the end and ran at each other, until Pitch got enough force that he pushed me into the coffee table so that I was lying on it and he was pinning me down.  "My parents," Pitch panted, "they own Black Industries.  Their company makes many military and prison grade weapons and gear, hence the custom cages and guns.  Another good thing about having this company close by is..."

He grabbed me by the collar of my shirt and dragged me to a wall, pinning his elbow to my throat as he said, "I sure as well know how to fight!"  He punched me hard in the face.

And I blacked out.

Hiccup's P.O.V.

Jack was still in there!  How could we just sit back and evacuate when there were living, innocent people inside the house?  We rode back until the demolitions experts said that the explosion wouldn't have a severe effect on us.  Then it was just one big ticking clock until ka-boom time.  Jack and I have been friends since we were small and I would give anything to go in and help him right now.  But, I knew police officers would catch me and that wouldn't be pleasant.  So, what I focused on now was comforting Merida, who was crying like never before.  "Hey, Curl-Girl, Mer, it's gonna be okay.  Jack and Elsa will be fine." I soothed as I patted her shoulder gently.

"I-I-I'm sorry you have to see me like this.  This makes me so abnormal!" Merida sniffled, attempting to hold her tears back in.

"No, this makes you human." I told her, hugging her.  I checked my watch.  My eyes widened as I saw that there was only ten minutes until the explosion.

Jack, please hurry!

Jack's P.O.V.

I was surrounded by blackness.  I was struggling to find my way out of it.  I needed to help!  Suddenly, there was a light at the end of my path.  A smooth, milky flame.  I stumbled towards it and I watched as the flame turned into a sparkling haze, erupting into a blue light.  Elsa, clad in a flowing blue dress, was smiling back at me.  "It looks like you need help." Elsa said, voice as soft as honey.

"Yes, I need to save you." I said.

"Oh I remember what you said in September- 'I'll always be here for you, Els.'  It's true." Elsa looked wistfully in the distance, "C'mon, let's finish what you started."  She offered me a slender, white wrist.  I clung to her arm and she gave me a carefree smile, bright as a diamond, and she pulled me towards her light.  "Thank you-" I started as the blackness disappeared.  Elsa looked like she wanted to say something, but then everything went white.

I woke up in all sweaty and dizzy, slumped against a wall.  I unsteadily stood up, and instantly I felt like I was going to topple over.  I steadied myself with my hands in front of me and guided myself to a kitchen chair of which I clung to.  "Pitch?  Hans?  Come out and fight!" I shouted.

No response.

I glanced at the kitchen table.  On it there was a timer that looked military-grade.  I saw a white sticky note stuck on the table beside it.  I lifted it up and read it's big, choppy letters.

Ha-ha, you lose!

Hans, Malificent, and I escaped while you were unconscious.  Now you have approximately ten minutes to save Elsa, and she's in a secure location.  The passcode to open the door is in Hans' bedroom, on the place where his only light shines, bringing fond memories.  That's tough riddle.  Enjoy answering that.  If you do find the passcode, Elsa is immobile right now.  She probably can't walk.  Oh well.  Tough for you.

-Pitch

I crumpled the note angrily and ran as fast as I could to Hans' room.  Everything was very messy and things were torn apart.  Blue grey walls were stained with food, and a king sized bed with black sheets was unmade and covered with papers.  "Where does his only light shine?" I asked aloud, rotating in a circle.  I saw the sun setting from his blinds and I ran over to that.  Nothing.  The sun wouldn't give him fun memories?

I checked everything with a light.  None of it showed any signs of a passcode.  I couldn't just leave without Elsa!  Shine a light, shine a light...

Elsa's a light.  She's pure, good, gorgeous.  Elsa is always there for you.  She is a beacon in darkness.

A light.

That brings good memories!

I snapped my fingers, "Got it!"

Where is Elsa in this room?  I saw a white bedside table, with a picture frame.  I picked it up, and saw a picture of Hans and Elsa, smiling and laughing in the camera.  I searched the frame.  I couldn't see the passcode.  Dang it!  It has to be there!  I shook the frame bitterly, knowing that time was running out.  The backing the picture was on rattled.  I shook it again.  In between the backing and the picture there was a flash of white.  I caught the picture and peeled it away.  There was a piece of paper!  I snatched the paper and looked at it.  It said:

09947234

The passcode!  This has to be it!  I gasped and smiled.  I ran back downstairs and checked the timer.  Three minutes and counting.  I ran as fast as I could into the basement.

I came across the room Elsa was in.  A high tech door was secured and replaced the regular one. I could see through a caged window Elsa lying on a table, unconscious.  I punched in the passcode and the door opened.  I ran to the table.  "Elsa!  Elsa!  Wake up!" I cried, tears springing in my eyes.  I touched her cheek, choking sobs.  She was pale and her lips were blue.  She had cuts and blood all over her.  Was she dying?

Elsa's eyes fluttered open just a little bit.  "Jack..." she breathed.

"Elsa!" I cried happily.

"You...have to...get out of here." Elsa choked, in pain, "I'll just slow you down."

"No!  I won't leave without you, Elsa!" I shouted, "I love you!"  Before she could say anymore, I ran to the straps at her legs and untied them.  I untied her waist, shoulders and arms too.  She sighed of relief, they were very tight straps.  "Can you walk?" I asked.

"Jack, it even hurts to sit up." Elsa said, struggling to keep herself propped up on her elbows.  I scooped her up bridal style and she slumped against my shoulder.  I saw a grey blanket in a corner and I placed it on her.  I quickly made my way up those basement stairs.  "Where's Hans?" Elsa asked worriedly.

"Gone.  All of them are gone.  Except for the Stabbington Brothers." I told her, as we made our way to the living room.

"And Belle?"

"Safe and sound."

"That's good." Elsa said, nestling her head close to mine.  Suddeny, without any knowledge prior, she passed out in my arms.  What did they do to her?  As we made our way to the kitchen I saw that the clock was at one minute and thirty seconds!  I'm not going to escape the blast!  Nor will Elsa!  I jogged to the front door and kicked it open.  I had to try.

For Elsa.

Anna's P.O.V.

"The bomb's gonna blow in a minute and twenty secs, Chief."  I heard Officer Hopps say to Chief Bogo.  He shook his head sadly.  "Their survival chances seem grim."

At that, I absorbed what had really happened.  I had just got my sister back and she could no longer be with me!  I tried stepping forward, but it was like my legs wouldn't work.  I collapsed to the ground, hands on my knees, trying to hold my tears in.  People were scattering about me, scowling that I was blocking the path.  I didn't care.  I didn't save Elsa and Jack like I should have.  I was useless.

A slug.

I cried and cried, waves of water flowing down my cheeks.  I tasted the salt of tears in my mouth and my hair clung to my face, yet I cried on.  It felt like the pain would never end.  "Ten... Nine... Eight... Seven... Six..."  I looked up and saw Officer Hopps choking down the seconds until the bomb went off.  I looked out at the direction towards Hans' home, wiping my eyes, praying to every God at once to save Elsa and Jack.  Suddenly, I heard a crackle and pop, and a bright red flame filled the sky.  The ground rumbled and the air was clouded with thick, black smoke.  It was even slightly smokey where we were.  "ELSA!" I screamed, "ELSA!"  I ran towards the wreckage, knocking everyone out of my way.  I saw Kristoff by my side, nodding me on.  Suddenly Merida and Hiccup were there too, gripping each other's hands so hard both their knuckles were white.  Rapunzel and Eugene emerged out of the woods, covered in brambles and dirt but were still sprinting as hard as everyone else.  We were met by a blinding wall of dark smoke.  We couldn't travel any further.

There was no telling if Jack or Elsa were alive or not.

Jack's P.O.V.

I ran as fast as I could down the street.  I checked my watch.  Thirty seconds.  I would have to be at least fifteen minutes away to be okay.  I couldn't run, but I could hide.  I found a house, two homes in front of Hans'.  It was empty because everyone in the area was evacuated, but I didn't think it would be safe inside with all the flying furniture. I'm hid in the back, leaning against the brick.  Elsa lay limply in my lap and I supported her so she was sitting up.  I saw a hose attached to the house and I soaked the blanket quickly.  Ten seconds.  I sprinted back and arranged myself with Elsa on my lap and the blanket covering the both of us.  "Ten... Nine... Eight... Seven... Six... Five... Four... Three... Two... One-" I whispered, heart beating wildly and eyes darting around like a madman's.

"Zero."

The bomb erupted like a volcano.  I could hear sparks fly everywhere.  The ground shook so bad that I almost toppled on top of Elsa.  Bricks around us fell, and dust and smoke filled the air.  Suddenly, all was still.  I poked my head out of the blanket and was met by the disgusting smell of smoke.  Mass quantities of smoke.  I hacked and coughed, trying to keep it out of my lungs.  I used the blanket to cover Elsa's mouth.  I picked her up again and I saw that she was very much awake.  I, however, felt like passing out.  "C'mon, Jack!" Elsa urged, voice muffled under the blanket, "You can do it!  You made it this far!  C'MON!"  She eased every step I took, encouraging me to go forward.  It felt like an eternity until I saw the smoke clearing.  I sucked in fresher breaths of air, coughing some more.  Elsa had passed out again, but her words lingered on in my mind.  I stumbled out into a clear area, and each step I took grew stronger as I guided myself to fresh air.

I left the heavy smoke and came into a clearing.  I saw Anna, Kristoff, Eugene, Rapunzel, Hiccup, and Merida, all crying.  One by one, they nudged each other as they saw me and started sobbing up tears of joy, flinging their arms around me and Elsa.  I fell to my knees and breathed, "I made it.  I made it."

Anna's P.O.V.

When Jack emerged out of the smoke, it was a miracle.  He walked steadily, carrying Elsa in his arms.  He saved my sister's life!  He was as close as family to me!  Jack appeared to be okay, except anywhere that was not covered by clothes was coloured grey with smoke.  Elsa looked deathly ill, however.  When Kristoff lay out the blanket Jack brought on the rough ground, and Jack rested Elsa upon it, she didn't acknowledge anyone.  Each breath came out choked and like a wheeze.  "She couldn't cough out the smoke." Kristoff stated nervously, "Elsa's having trouble breathing."

"PARAMEDIC!" Rapunzel wailed, "WE NEED A PARAMEDIC!"

Chief Bogo sprinted up to us, "What are you kids doing?  It's not safe-"  He gasped when he saw Jack and Elsa.  "Oh my..." Chief Bogo gaped, "They are alive!"  He immediately turned on his staticky Walkie-Talkie and shouted through it, "Jack Frost has extracted Elsa Delle from Hans' home successfully.  They are both alive but Elsa is in critical condition.  Send a medic, NOW!"

Less than a minute later, an ambulance drove over to our spot.  Two paramedics lowered a stretcher onto the ground, and they gently lifted Elsa by the shoulders and legs and onto the stretcher.  They pulled a blanket over her legs, and up to her neck, so only her neck, shoulders, head, and arms showed.  They secured her to it so she wouldn't fall off, and wheeled it into the ambulance.  By this time, everyone else had showed up and were crying saying how great of a miracle this was.  One of the paramedics put an oxygen mask on Elsa and the other hopped in the driver's seat.  Two more lead Jack into the same ambulance to help with his breathing.  I hopped in without anyone saying so.  Officer Hopps and Officer Wilde escorted us on their police motorcycles and soon everyone else was trailing behind us in a huge line of vehicles.  I patted my sister's hand as she lay unresponsive.  "C'mon Elsa," I teared up, "You have to fight it.  I still need you."

I couldn't live without Elsa.

*Time skip to the hospital*

As soon as we got inside, Elsa was rushed off to surgery.  I got to watch from the glass window as a dozen doctors rushed in and started operating on my sister.  The heart monitor Elsa was attached to started beeping, indicating a flatline, and five more surgeons rushed in.  "Code Blue, I repeat, Code Blue." an announcement droned.

"WE'RE LOSING HER!" a doctor shouted.

They started trying to jumpstart her heart.  Each time I heard the doctors holler, "Charge!" and "Clear!", I felt like my heart would break in two.

"C'MON, ELSA!  YOU'RE STRONG!  FIGHT!  FIGHT!  YOU HAVE TO FIGHT!  I CAN'T LOSE YOU!" I screamed, pounding in the glass with my fists.  A nurse grabbed me by the shoulders and lead my away from the glass as I reached out for my sister, crying.  She told me to sit in a waiting room chair and I curled up in a small ball by myself.

Fifteen minutes later I felt like the suspense would never end.

"Miss Delle?"

I looked up and saw Dr. Felix, in surgeon scrubs which were dotted with blood.  Wait- he was there helping Elsa!  "H-how is she?" I asked, eyes full of fear as I braced myself for the worst.

"Well, your sister is-"

A/N:  DEAD!   PLOT TWIST!  LOL, ha ha.  Elsa is not dead, so no need to worry.  I'm sorry if this book has gone off the rails, I just have had one idea after the other, so don't kill me!  It's my first Jelsa fanfiction, after all.  I'm a newbie to fanfic stuff.  Okie dokie, I have nothing else to say right now.  Bye-bye y'all!
