Damien: Part II
I wake up, a little disappointed to do so without Lora. I dropped her and Stephanie off at college last night for their test today.
Maybe I should've went? I pause at the thought for a moment.
Nah.
I get out of bed, and half-sleep walk to the pull-up bar at the bathroom's door frame. I grab it, and lift my feet off the floor, letting my arms stretch. Then I start.
I pump about sixteen by the time I feel my pulse against my skin. I stretch on the bar again, yawning. Then I go in the bathroom, give my face and hair a splash of water.
I grab my phone and cigarettes before I go out of my room, lighting one on my way downstairs. I hope to find coffee in the kitchen, but I find a jug of margarita instead.
I shrug, and pour myself a glass. It soothes my throat well for the smoke. From the sweetness, I know the cocktail is Cassie's. John likes it sour.
I see the glass to the porch is open, and I go outside. I blink in the sunlight, and find John and Cassie lying on the sunbeds by the pool. Cassie is obviously in her patriotic bikini, and John wears red shorts, both still wet and sipping on margaritas.
"Morning bro." Cassie leans over to fix my hair as I sit on the sunbed next to her.
"Are we out of coffee?"
"Yup." John answers.
"Aren't we going to get some?" I ask.
"Do you wanna go get some?" Cassie asks.
"No..." I sigh, falling back into my seat.
"So it's alcohol day." John says, raising his glass.
"So like everyday, only without coffee in the morning." I reply.
"Exactly." Cassie clinks her glass against mine.
"So what are you guys up to today?" I ask, taking a sip.
"We just covered that." John looks at me like I'm dumb. "It's alcohol day."
"Come on, you can't sit out and drink all day long..." I shake my head.
"Watch us." Cassie says, and John highfives her.
I sigh at them. "Come on. You are at your physical and mental prime. This is your time to stand up and act. To leave your stamp on the world."
"If you're in mood for lectures Damien, you can go to college." Cassie smacks her lips.
"Yeah fuck off Damien, we are doing plenty." John says, finishing his margarita.
"Oh, I can see that." I click my tongue at him. Cassie snatches my margarita, and hands it to John.
"You don't appreciate alcohol day." She scolds me.
I sigh at her. "Doesn't mean I don't want margarita..."
"Yeah Cassie's margarita is the best." John says as he downs it sip by sip.
"You just say that when you're too lazy to make some." Cassie answers, and he smirks.
"Fine, I'm going to get more." I say, then my phone rings.
I hope it's Lora.
My eyebrows raise in surprise when I see 'Dad' on the call.
"Hey dad, what's up?"
"Damien, my boy. I need a favor."
