Sometimes I wonder why the fates hate me, what they have to throw shit at me, such as a cute kid that cane out of nowhere and looked extremely like Ben, tumbling into my legs.
The kid looked up at me as I blinked surprised. He was really cute and made my heart squeeze just like I wanted to squeeze him.
Little children were my weakness. I loved playing with them. Just cause I want to be a father someday. Have my own kids. But I fear that'll never happen.
Pushing away the urge to spin the kid in circle until he throws up, I speak. "You okay?" I asked as he backed away with wide and enchanted eyes, which kinda confuses me.
"I'm fine..." He squeaks.
"Jackson. The fuck have I told-well if it isn't Mr. Blackwood." Sneered, a blonde drug addict? Oh wait, I remember those earrings, it's one of the very first secretaries in the long 6 years of me working with Ben.
"And you are?" I asked acting like I didn't know her.
She smirked before giving me some papers before walking off and the boy went to follow, but the woman sneered and pointed at me before quickly running away. I watched as the kid looked confused and really wanted to go after his, what I presumed, mother.
I looked down and my eyes widened.
Jesus, the fates do hate me.

The little kid was in my arms was playing with my deep jet black hair as I waited to be back on the top floor. Waiting for the upcoming arguments to come.
He wouldn't like this.
Not at all.
The kid jumped in my arms, Jackson, jumped in my arms as he heard the ding and watched as the doors opened. But as I opened the door I immediately pressed the button to close the doors as Ben was getting one last fuck in and the kid had almost seen it. And if he did he'd be scared for life and it'd forever be the first moment of seeing his dad, and his firm ass.
Jesus.
"Where are we going now?" The kid asked as I sighed heavily.
"Until they stop...working on what their doing were going to go out, alright?" I told him as he nodded, going back to playing with my hair.
"When is my mommy coming back?" He asked softly.
I paused, unsure how I was supposed to tell the kid, that his mom practically abandoned him in a hopeless mans hands. Which would be Ben. Who never wants kids, and would deny the kid was even his till the day he died. It was just the way he was.
Looking into the same Amber eyes as his father who was slitting it out upstairs, I sighed. "Not for awhile bud. But for now we can go have some fun, okay?" I told him softly.
He paused himself, and looked at me as he thought and nodded with the idea. Being quiet. To quiet for a little kid.
I went up to Amanda, a kind old lady who was one of the receptionists at the large desk in the main lobby of the skyscraper. "Hey, can you leave a message for Ben telling him I'll be back at," I looked at the clock. "3, I have some things to do, also can you send these up to him?" I asked as I handed the confirmation of him having a child to the lady.
"Of course sir. I'll get on it right away." She said with smile towards me and a cop to the shy boy who's face was in my neck at the cooing from the woman.
"Thank you Amanda!!" I said as I started walking out.

"Okay, how bout these?" I asked Jackson as he held a teddy bear I was going to get him. I was holding up a pair of Spider-Man light up shoes as the ones on his feet were to small and it was hurting his tiny toes.
He nodded so fast that his head was nearly a blur! I giggled at him and put the shoes in the basket. Where an assortment of clothes were.
He was in said basket as I looked for snacks he could eat as I worked some and while Ben soaked in that he was responsible for a child now. An adorable one at that!
Soon we were done shopping and I was smiling as he talked endlessly about superhero's and played with his teddy while sitting comfortably in his booster seat.
When we got back to the parking valet I grabbed Jackson and went to the trunk where I grabbed a bag of snacks and put a new pair of clothes and his new shoes into the bag before actually giving the keys to the valet. Who gawked at me smiling, with a kid in my arms. I was kinda emotionless around the work place.
But as I said, kids are my weakness.
I headed towards the elevators waving at Amanda as I passed as did Jackson who immediately hid into my neck after she waved back with an awe.
It was a little past 3 as I walked into the hallway, glad things were cleaned up, I walked into Bens office to see him staring sternly at the papers that Jackson's mother left me.
He looked at me then at Jackson who was staring at him with his same eyes.
"Oh fuck no..."
