~Prologue~
Where am I? Everywhere is dark, my hands are cold as well as my feet, and I can't seem to remember anything, not to mention that my head feels like it has been hit by a boulder.
The more I try to think, the more it hurts. My memories are blurry, and the more I try to hold onto them, the farther they become.
I try to see if I can stretch my body and make any type of movement, but that also seems impossible. It seems like I'm in some kind of box; my mouth is dry, and my throat feels like sandpaper. I feel numb; I feel dead.
Voices... I can hear voices, and although I feel like I might just be imagining them, it hasn't been the first time after all. I don't only hear voices; I hear something else—a heartbeat. This seems to awaken my senses because now I'm picking up the sound of something low but loud at the same time—a pulse.
I can feel my body twitching; my urge to move has become stronger; I feel restless, but I'm helpless.
Suddenly, I feel a rush of emotions, and now I'm hungry. This hunger is not for food but for something different, something more intense, something feral. I'm gaining and losing control of my senses; they are unbearably heightened, and I feel like I'm going crazy.
The voices get closer as well as the footsteps, and that damned heartbeat is now impossible for me to ignore. The hunger intensifies, but somehow, I am able to make out what the voices are saying.
“We shouldn't be doing this, Billy.” One of the voices says, Fear is evident in His tone.
“What exactly are we doing?” the second voice, which should be Billy’s questions confidently and smugly.
“We shouldn't be here exploring; you already heard what the owner of the manor said; this place is out of bounds.”
“You're right, but haven't you wondered why this place is out of bounds?” Billy’s question is met with silence. He then continues.
“You are my brother Mike, and I know for a fact that you are equally as curious as me about the mysteries of this manor; why don't we just explore it together?”
That is the last thing I hear of their conversation. As my senses are blocked out by a rush of emotions, I can feel an unexplainable ache in my gums. It stings, but the pain feels welcomed. Suddenly, I see a flash, and I hear other voices. Those voices are not of the two boys, but I can still hear their heartbeat.
Something comes over me, and I see what seems like a memory: a woman and her children. I then see another memory, but this time, it is a man, but with those same children.
The kids definitely look like him, and the woman from the past memory comes up to him. They smile at each other, they are in love, and they are happy. For some reason, a sensation of happiness floods me as I see this memory. The memory fades away; I feel numb.
I see a light; I see a girl; she's in tattered clothes; her face is smudged with dirt; yet she has a smile on her face—a smile that is so innocent. She then turns her back to me.
She turns back again, but this time she's different; she's grown, and her eyes are something else; they are filled with blood, anger, and coldness. Veins pop from under her eyes to her cheeks; her teeth are long and sharp—fangs.
Suddenly she grabs me, her hand on both sides of my head, her eyes glowing with a dark orange colour. She keeps saying something in a foreign language I can barely comprehend. Pain surges all over my body. No, this is worse; I feel like I'm going to explode.
I feel hot and cold at the same time. I want to scream, but I cannot; I'm not allowed to. My skin feels like something is crawling on it; everywhere hurts. Please make it stop. It does.
Everywhere is suddenly quiet; I cannot hear anything, not even those heartbeats. Then I hear it: a whisper, a name...
“Celeste?”
