Chapter 20: The Appearance of Things

As Felina sat before him, both of them at the edge of his bed, he studied her. She literally glowed in front of him, and her eyes that were already very light in color, had grown impossibly lighter, glowing with a silver sheen. He had never seen anything like it. She still resembled the image of the woman he had previously met, but more ethereal than before. In fact, she almost looked insubstantial, as if she was made of nothing but light and shadow and would suddenly vanish before him. She didn't look anything like a human. She didn't even feel human. She felt alien, but in her presence he felt more alive than he ever remembered feeling before. It amazed him.

They sat in silence for many moments, regarding each other. When he finally spoke up, he asked quietly, "Can I... ? Will you... ?"

She seemed to patiently wait for him to get the words out, ducking her head a little to regard him, with her chin tilting up in her customary posture as she appeared to determine his next words, but before he could get the words out, she nodded, "Yes. You may hug me." She told him simply.

Namjoon blinked a few times as he looked at her again and said at the edge of a frown, "Felina. Do you read minds, or something? This isn't the first time you have answered a question before I had a chance to say anything."

She smiled with a half laugh, her breath escaping her nostrils heavily as she did so, "It is a gift of my kind." She explained.

He began to speak again, then thought better of it, and took her hands in his again, pulling her towards him. He embraced her and said against her ear, "I have so many questions, but I just want to hug you now." She laughed again, returning his embrace.

In the next moment, Felina moved away from him and looked towards the door, "Jin will arrive soon. Your questions will have to wait." She announced. He looked at her, once again surprised. 'She always surprised him,' he thought, 'Always.' When the knock came on his door, and he heard Soekjin's voice, he gazed at Felina thoughtfully with a small smile, his dimples faintly showing in his cheeks.

"Hey, Joonie! Are you in there? Is Felina with you? What are you guys doing in there? Seokjin knocked again, asking if they were going to come out, but Namjoon ignored him for a space.

As he looked at Felina again he asked quietly, "So you can tell what people are going to do before they do it, too?"

She shrugged gracefully, "I can tell by the energy of movement, among other things. Thoughts are another. The internal human voice is loud. You do not guard your thoughts well, usually. It is easy to catch them." She explained.

Namjoon looked at her levelly for a brief moment before he stood up and unlocked the door, opening it. Seokjin looked into his eyes briefly, then craned his neck over Namjoon's shoulder to peer at Felina, "What are you guys doing?" Seokjin repeated, "Behaving?" He waggled his eyebrows at Felina, then glanced back at Namjoon with a big grin.

Felina stood and walked up to Namjoon, taking his arm in hers, "Yes, Jin. As you may see. We are behaving, as you say." Namjoon turned his head to look from Seokjin to Felina and saw that she was no longer glowing. She looked as she had before. She looked human, but somehow not and he stared at her, unable to take his eyes away.

Seokjin turned his eyes to watch Namjoon, who still watched Felina, then announced with a bemused tone, "You know, though. If you want to misbehave, I can leave."

Namjoon gradually pulled his eyes from Felina to Seokjin, then back at Felina when she announced, "It's not necessary. We will come back with you to the living room." She told him, her lips turned up a little at the corners. Namjoon frowned, but allowed himself to be led back to the living room, the warm, beautiful woman still holding onto him. 'But a woman?' He asked himself, glancing at her again. She laughed softly and Seokjin turned around briefly to watch them with a question on his face, before turning back as he walked in front of them to the other room.

Felina leaned towards him, briefly stopping, as she pulled on his arm to bring him closer and whispered into his ear, "Less a woman, more a female. I'm not human, after all. But I'm all feminine fire." The way she spoke in his ear, with the side of her breast touching his arm as she leaned into him, made his blood go hot and he looked at her, again, her face very close to his. She looked feline. The image, even without her glow, was arresting. He stared at her, as they began to walk again down the hallway, his expression still evident on his face when they entered the living room.

Several of the others caught his expression and began to tease them, asking what they had been doing, as Seokjin announced that he had found them in Namjoon's room. Namjoon quickly colored up, turning red from his chest to his ears, and he lifted his arms to his brothers, holding his hands out, "It's not what you guys think! Come on!" Felina laughed in chimes, the rich sound appealing to all the ears of the men. Of course they had heard it through the night, during her visit, but something in the tone and quality had changed, as if she was more free and knew it.

I sat again, ensconced with the men on the couches. The video games had ended and everyone sat next to each other, talking. Namjoon refused to sit anywhere but next to me and motioned for Jungkook to move from his place on the couch to sit next to Yoongi, so that there would be space for both of us to sit. I threaded my arm through Namjoon's again, leaning against him, allowing myself to grow comfortable. I still paid attention to the thoughts in the room and the energy, but I was less on guard as I listened to the men. I did not engage in conversation with them, content to merely watch.

As the conversation moved around the room, Namjoon moved his arm, so that he could take my hand, and he threaded his fingers through mine. I glanced at him, then gradually smiled. He smiled back at me, his dimples in full force, and I leaned a little into his side. Jimin noticed this and leaned forward looking pointedly from our expressions, as we smiled at each other, to our entwined fingers. I felt a question from him at the edge of my awareness and turned my head to contemplate the man. I asked, "What is it, Jimin? Did you want to say something?"

He smiled, discarding his question about Namjoon and I, and instead chose a safer topic, asking, "Do you dance? Joonie said that he thought you might be a dancer, because you are so graceful." He suggested.

I smiled at his unspoken question and responded to the one he voiced, "I am not classically trained as you are, but I have danced. Yes."

Hoseok spoke up, "So, like, club dancing?" He asked. I shook my head, "No. I do not go to clubs, typically. I've explored dances of many cultures, some modern, some not. I have waltzed, and twisted in jest. But the dances I have enjoyed most were the native African dances." I explained.

Some of their group snickered and I smiled at them, indulgently. Taehyung spoke up, glancing at the other men who laughed, "Wooooow! Show us!" He exclaimed, almost bouncing in his seat.

I chuckled, "Really?" I asked him, as he bobbed his head up and down enthusiastically. I grinned, "Very well." I said and stood up. I looked at the men, "But I need music. Does anyone have a djembe they may play?" They gaped at me a little and Hoseok laughed, while Namjoon took out his phone and found a song on YouTube to play. A lively sound of drums began to play from his phone and joy escaped my throat as I threw my arms up in the air in abandon and began to dance.

I thrust my hips up, then out, moving my back end in the opposite direction, then stomped my foot as I turned to the side, bending my knee. I flowed into the dance, from one movement to another, throwing myself into the passion of it. I twisted my body with the drums, and moved deeply with the music. Some of the movements matched those of the dances I had seen the men do on stage and in practice from videos I had watched of them, but this dance was a tribal mating dance. A dance meant to entice the men of the tribe towards marriage. It was ancient and it had been practiced in various forms among African tribes.

My feet pounded into the floor, as I stamped them rhythmically, and I twisted around to the beat. My arms dipped forward as I lowered half my body to the ground, in a swinging motion, bringing my body down at the waist. Then, my arms thrust forward and back again, jutting my breasts out in full display. Then I moved around the room swiftly stamping my feet and moving my body to the beat. When the song ended, I stood in the middle of the living room with my heart pounding and my chest moving up and down in rapid breathing. I smiled and breathlessly stated, "And that, dear men, is African dance. Similar to what you do on stage, but its origin." I looked around the room as the men gaped at me and held back a laugh at their expressions. I suggested, "Do you want to try it with me?"

Before I could finish my sentence, Hoseok, Jimin, Taehyung, Jungkook and even Namjoon, who did not consider himself a good dancer, stood up. I went through the steps with them, explaining what each step meant. Then told them that traditionally this was the dance of women to attract a mate, which had them laughing. I caught Namjoon's eye and there was a gleam there that drew me in. I looked away as I showed them the next step, forcing my eyes from his. We spent a good hour going over the steps as I taught them the dance. At the end of the lesson, their faces glowing with laughter, erupting sporadically, we all settled back down on the couches. I again sat next to Namjoon, with Taehyung on the other side of me.

The men began discussing the idea of adding some of the moves to their choreography. I was amused and listened. Namjoon leaned towards me and whispered in my ear, "You created a little monster, Felina."

I knew he was teasing me, but responded suggestively, fully intending to shock and stir him deeply, as I whispered back, "The only monster I want to create I will have to indulge in private." I paused, then continued "At some undisclosed later date."

Namjoon immediately caught my meaning and blushed furiously red. Seokjin noticed and he spluttered with laughter at his brother, "Joonah. You look like a tomato! What are you guys talking about over there? I bet it's saucy," He finished with another laugh at his own joke, then exclaimed, "You are so red!"

I looked from Seokjin to Namjoon and laughed out loud, then took a breath to still my laughter some, retorting in a sultry voice, "We are just talking about little monsters and how to create them." Namjoon turned even redder and the men all broke out in laughter.

Taehyung exclaimed, "That's so bad!"

Jimin practically finished his sentence, not missing a beat, "And sexual!" He said.

I cuddled up to Namjoon, as he leaned into me, and stated, "Men. Men. Sex is beautiful and sacred. There is nothing wrong with that!" I told them.

Yoongi suddenly spoke up, "So sacred, it's turning Namjoon all the shades of red." He lifted his chin in Namjoon's direction, as if to say, 'Look. The proof is there.'

I looked at Namjoon and moved closer to him, kissing his cheek, in atonement, "I apologize, Joon-ah. Did I embarrass you?" He looked back at me, half smiling, the blush fading from his cheek, but a happy expression on his face, his chin scrunching up cutely. I tilted my head looking at him as he touched his cheek with his hand, as if relishing the kiss, and then played it off, resting his cheek in his hand as he gazed at me.

"Maybe a little." He said, followed by a snort from Yoongi.

"Ya. More than a little." I laughed at the exchange and at how suddenly adorable I found Namjoon to be. The thought that he was adorable wasn't foreign to me. For a human male I did find him attractive, and that he displayed his embarrassment and pleasure in such a way did strike me as appealing and played into my attraction towards him. His features were also attractive. They were distinct and unique and his male beauty was not typical, but interesting, and I enjoyed looking at him. But it was more than how he looked and acted. As I began to know him, I saw repeated illustrations of his spirit, energy and the many facets of his personality, as they shone through his visage. I was deeply drawn to him, and more so the more I was around him.

The depth of my feelings made me blink in mild shock, in response to his bashfulness and with surprise I lowered my head, attempting to hide my realization. I then peered at him through my lashes, half watching him and half hiding behind them. My look arrested his attention and he peered back at me with a curious expression. I could read his thoughts on his face, without having to peek into his mind and knew he had come to a decision. He grabbed my wrist loosely, pulling me into his side,  as he wrapped his arm around me. We cuddled together, as we joined in the conversations around us.
