Dreams and Shenanigans

A/N: This is sorta an introduction to Eden (the cool brother that I wish I have) in the start. There are some aspects of Bridget's backstory that are also mentioned here that aren't events that happened to me, since my past is very fuzzy to me. I apologise for the wait, I've been preoccupied with school due to the start of a new semester (and new classes because we're doing 4x4), and I've been using the wiki's written script of the episodes since I don't have the game.

Note: This is the true beginning of the story, and it's altered slightly to suit the MC. Grim doesn't appear at first, but he does come into play later in the chapter.

Please note that some of the dialogue has been altered for either more emotion, or in one quote's case to resemble the movie's actual quote that's used comes from more accurately. It's gonna be long so buckle up y'all (definitely not as long as the chapters of my novels, but you hopefully get the point)!

Edit: I had to edit one of the dialogues so it can be more specific.

I feel like this is a memory that I've forgotten existed due to anxiety-induced memory loss. I could tell I was running away from a loud place somewhat far from my house, but still in my neighborhood. I felt tightness in my chest, dry-coughing until I ended up in front of the mirror in the forest. There were three silhouettes in said mirror, but I was kneeling on the earth gasping for air.

"Are you alright?" one of them asked, but I couldn't respond. My chest felt too tight and I was struggling to breathe. "Is it possible to even go through this mirror?" another questioned to himself, his hand pushing through the boundary while his legs were being held down by the shorter of the three. He was able to poke his head through, but I wasn't looking at him.

"Bridget!" I heard someone cry out from far back, hearing them run over to me. I heard them plop down to my side, taking out an inhaler and placing the mouthpiece in, pushing on the top to release the medicine. I felt a little weak, slumping into their arms.

He sighed, looking at the boy whose head was poking out through the mirror. "I knew that there were people in the mirror, but even this is a little weird to me." he said. "Anyways," he introduced himself, "my name's Eden. This is my little sister, Bridget."

After that, everything faded, but I assume they talked for a bit before Eden had to bring me back home to rest.

I got out of bed, seeing a plastic bag on top of the dresser next to the uniform. I took the things that were inside of the bag, which had a note written on the top.

I was able to get you some necessities such as toiletries, socks, and underwear. If there's anything else you need then let me know. ~ D. Crowley

He didn't have to go out of his way to do this, but I still appreciate it. I grabbed a pair of underwear and changed into the uniform. It was a little long on my arms and legs, but it fits my chest and waist (which is good because I have a large bust). I changed into a new pair of socks, and put on my shoes before grabbing my messenger bag, hearing protection, put on my medical bracelet, and then walked out of the dorm and towards the main campus.

I was walking down Main Street, stopping to look at the statues on both sides of the path. I feel like I know these figures from movies I watched as a child, mainly when I was in emergency rooms and hospitals due to asthma attacks. I continued walking towards the school, hearing someone talking but ignored them.

I felt someone's hand on my shoulder, causing me to jump a little. "Oi, were you not listening to me?" I turned my head to face him. He had hair the color of unpainted clay along with a painted heart on the left side of his face over his eye.

He squinted at me. "Ohhh, you must be that girl. Everyone was talking about you." At this point, I just walked away. I'm probably gonna be late anyways to my meeting with Crowley if I talk to him.

"I'm not done- Yeesh, you're a fast walker!" I heard him yell, and I only quickened my pace. Gotta go fast I guess.

Oop, there's the tall crow man. "Miss Helgesen, I was going to bring you since you might get lost on your way." He walked up to me, and I turned around to see that annoying dude from earlier. Bruh.

"Why are you walking so fast?" the dude with the clay-colored hair asked me. I was feeling a little uncomfortable, and I heard the headmaster clear his throat.

"You, young man. What is your name and year?" Crowley asked. I saw the dude jolt in fear before sighing.

"Ace Trappola, first year." he replied.

"Well, Ace. I'm sure you might know this already," Crowley placed his hands akimbo, "but this young lady somehow ended up here in the ceremonial robes. She's not from this world, and she's staying here until we can find a way for her to return to her world. I expect that you make this a safe place for her. I will not tolerate any actions you do that make her uncomfortable in the future, you will be punished personally by me. Do you understand, young man?"

"Yeah yeah, I understand." the dude named Ace answered before bowing, "I apologise for my actions." I'm very familiar with that tone of voice, since Desmond uses that tone all the time whenever he apologises. He sounds like he's half-assing an apology, and isn't actually sorry or will make changes. I'm not gonna tell that to Crowley though.

"You can go to your class now," Crowley said, "can't let you be late." Ace nodded his head, probably making a snide remark in his mind, and walked around us towards the school itself.

•••

I was sitting in Crowley's office. There was already some paperwork that was ready for me to fill out.

"This is just paperwork so you're a documented student. I'll have to contact someone in The Isle of Sages to document you as a citizen in full." Crowley was grabbing me a pen, but I unzipped my black pencil case and took out a black gel pen and a black smudge glove.

I started to write down my name, but when I was filling out the day of birth I paused at the year. "Uh... Headmaster?" I asked.

"Is there something wrong?" he was probably furrowing his brow, but I can't tell with his mask.

"I know the day I was born in my world, but I don't think this world has the same way of counting years. In my world it's currently 2020," I explained, "but that's in one of the many calendars. The years that are counted are the years after the creation of one of the largest religions in my world."

Crowley tapped his chin. "Fair point. Let's just use your current age and count backwards to figure out your year of birth here. What's your current age?"

"Sixteen years old," I replied, "but I'm turning seventeen shortly after the new year."

Crowley muttered something under his breath, before telling me what year to put down. I wrote that down, and finished the document in no time. Now we need to do the actual special needs stuff.

"Since you don't have magic, you're the only female student, and considered disabled in your world," Crowley asked, "that means we need to make accommodations, correct?" I nodded.

"Let's just start with what I think I remember from my IEPs from my world." I removed my hearing protection, "I am allowed to wear these due to my sensitive hearing. They're usually called headphones by others, but I refer to them as hearing protection because that's what they are." I tapped a finger against the hard shell of the hearing protection. Crowley wrote something down.

"I also tend to have hard candies with me, it's for sensory reasons too. I usually just put one in my mouth and sometimes move it around inside my mouth. It helps me focus." This went on for a while, with me telling him stuff. I also told him about the fact that I had a surgery last year that caused me to be more sensitive to sensory input than before.

"Then again," I concluded with the special needs and disabled part, "I don't know as much about my IEP as my mom. If I could contact her, I would, because I don't think this is even half of it."

Crowley cocked his head. "Your mom knows more about this than you?" I nodded.

"She had to fight the school board so my brothers and I could even have the possibility of an IEP. She's the one who goes to the meetings, so I basically have zero experience with my IEP itself." I caught myself, "Sorry, I didn't mean to talk for that long."

"It's alright, Miss Helgesen." Crowley remarked, "Your mother sounds like a wonderful person. Anyways, there's another part of this regarding you as the only female student." I nodded.

"Yeah...that part." I don't know how I'm even going to explain menstruation to Crowley.

"Is something wrong? You look stressed." Crowley asked, I just shook my head.

"It's fine." I inhaled deeply, then exhaled. "It just involves a little biology and stuff."

I then explained how periods work. He looked a little shocked at first, then regained composure. "I didn't know women go through that. Every month you bleed for a week unless you're pregnant?" I nodded.

"That's right. However, there's something more serious that applies to me that's abnormal about my periods." I mentally prepared myself for the barrage of questions he may have.

"I tend to get cramps that are more painful than normal cramps. A little bit of pain is normal, but I tend to experience cramps that make me leave school early and even postponed a trip to visit extended family last year." I said. Crowley was silent. "My mom had endometriosis, one of the symptoms is painful menstrual cramps. I haven't been diagnosed, but my mom believes I have endometriosis too."

He nodded his head. "I believe there could be a potion to help reduce the cramps. I don't know how much it'll reduce them, but it'll be better than no help. I'll talk with the alchemy professor to figure out if any cramp reducing potions exist. It may end up having ingredients that we don't have here at Night Raven, but until then we'll make do with what we have."

I was about to thank him when I heard a loud crash. My eyes widened, instinctively putting my ears over my head even though I already placed my hearing protection back on earlier. "I'll go see what happened, please stay here." Crowley said, getting out of his seat and rushing out the door. I didn't exactly know what to do, but my leg was doing the leg bounce so I decided to get up and pace, typical behavior on my end. I pace all the time, especially when listening to music. I don't have my phone with me though, so I just paced for a little while.

A few minutes later, Crowley came back with two boys and the demon cat I saw in the infirmary yesterday. I turned around, as I was about to do another pace from his desk to near the door. Crowley walked around me to sit at his desk, and I decided it would be best if I just stood near one of the walls and put on my hearing protection.

"It's you, the girl I saw this morning!" I heard one of the boys say, and I turned towards them. I definitely recognised the redheaded trickster, but the person next to him I did not recognise. Then again, I only met six dorm leaders, one of the vice dorm leaders, and a dude who could look like he's my older brother at first glance.

He had dark blue hair, and a spade the color of his hair drawn around his right eye. Compared to Ace's predominantly red-hued colors, he had more blue tones. By the looks of it, they're likely in the same dormitory (even though I have no fucking clue what they are), and also the same year as me. They seem younger than me though.

"It's not time for chit-chat, young man. This is a serious issue, and I'm sure she isn't in the mood to talk." Crowley chided, causing Ace to roll his eyes.

"You two broke an irreplaceable chandelier, and this leaves me no choice but to expel you two." Crowley's words were hard to swallow. Even if it wasn't directed at me, dysphoria and anxiety are some hellish issues.

"I'll do anything to right this! Please, Headmaster," the blue-haired boy bowed, voice shaky in desperation, "I have things I need to do at this school! I'll bend my back backwards if it means I can have a chance at staying!"

"That is no ordinary chandelier, Spade," Crowley informed, "it's a magical chandelier which uses candles that burn for all eternity; a masterpiece made by a legendary master of magical tools that has been entrusted to this very school since its foundation. Because of this, the cost to repair it alone will cost a billion Madol."

I'm going to assume that's the currency used in this world. However, in terms of currencies where I'm from, it would likely cost millions. However, different countries like Japan have a higher cost of things.

"A...a billion Madol?!" Spade's eyes widened in shock.

"Can't'cha just fix it with magic, Teacher?" Ace asked, which made Crowley sigh. At this point, I was more occupied with trying to grab the kitty. He looks so fluffy...so so fluffy.

I ended up missing a lot of what they said because I was focusing on the demon cat. Then again, I haven't had the chance to hold a cat since I got yeeted here so I gotta take the chance. He looks kinda thin, like the strays my family feeds along with the unexpected raccoons and opossums.

I caught 'im, he's really lightweight. Poor kitty, his fur's not that good-looking either. I held him like a baby, which is kinda awkward due to my large chest but whatever. Hoo boy, I definitely need Adderall.

"Magic crystals are all one-of-a-kind, so it's rare for two to have the exact same properties. However, if you can find one that's the same kind as the original, repairs could be possible." Crowley informed the two. I guess I missed a chunk of the conversation, but who cares I'm holding a cat.

"I'll go find a magic crystal! Please, allow me to go!" Spade pleaded.

"I'm not finished yet, you two." Crowley added, "There's no guarantee that there are any magic crystals in the mine; it's been closed for years so there's a possibility all of the magic crystals have been exhausted."

"I'll do anything, anything if it means I won't get expelled!" Spade insisted. Gotta give him credit, he's persistent as fuck.

"Very well," Crowley sat back down, "I'll give you two one night. Come to me with the magic crystal by tomorrow morning, or face expulsion!"

"I'll go with them." I declared.

The three of them are staring at me in confusion, but Crowley looked more concerned. "Miss Bridget, you had an asthma attack yesterday. A bad one at that." Crowley said, "It'll take you a few days to recover, and I'm not going to let you go with them."

"Crowley. I'm fully aware of my asthma attack that happened yesterday." I put one of my hands on my hip after adjusting my hold on the cat, "However, my inhaler isn't anywhere near running out of medicine, I don't want to be a burden by getting support and not doing anything in return, and even if my asthma flares up I'll have these two with me. It's always better to have an extra pair of eyes, y'know?"

Crowley held his head in his hands, letting out a deep sigh. "You do have a point. However, it might not be a good idea. I will allow you to join them, but only on three conditions: First, you bring your inhaler with you and keep it on you at all times. Second, you bring the cat you're holding right now with you. And three, the moment you four return and report to me you immediately go to the clinic. Understand?"

I nodded my head, "I'll need someone to hold him while I grab my medical bag."

"I'll do it!" Spade blurted, and I put him into his arms.

"Stop treating me, the Great Grim, like a toddler!" the cat pouted, his tail swishing.

"It'll be easier to get around with us if you're being held, Grim." I retorted, "Now, hold him gently like he's a human baby, it's what my family does when holding cats." I guided Spade's hands until he was holding Grim securely. He looked like he was blushing a bit, but I didn't care.

I walked up to my messenger bag, undoing the velcro keeping the medicine case on the strap, and put it on. I walked back to Spade, and he passed Grim over to me.

"Okay, okay. Let's get going now." Ace said, already walking to the door.

"Use the Gate in the Mirror Chamber to go directly to the Dwarf's Mine." Crowley informed us. Ace and I nodded.

"Yes, sir!" Spade said in response, and the four of us walked to the Mirror Chamber.

"Today's not my day..." Ace groaned, stretching his arms out.

"No time for mumbling, we gotta go! Magic Mirror on the wall, light our way to the Dwarf's Mine!" Spade ordered, and we were swallowed by a bright light transporting us to our destination. I would've asked if we could've introduced ourselves to each other, but we're pressed for time.
