SHOT 26

Arohi's pov!

Kashinath walked aside to attend a phone call.

He had told me to stick by his side. That alone made me walk forwards and enter the ballroom.

I looked around the ballroom. There must probably be more than a couple hundred people there.

I walked around aimlessly and started regretting my impulsive decision.

I should have waited for Kashinath before walking in.

People were staring at me. The looks some men were throwing my way is making me really uncomfortable.

I hurriedly walked towards a corner, but on the way, I crashed into someone.

Before I could fall, a pair of arms wrapped around me, pulling me against him.

His broad hands were sprawled across my bare back.

Oh God!

"Hello beautiful," the man said in a charming way.

"Er hello. You can leave me now." I said, getting myself out of his hold.

"That's sad. I was enjoying holding you in my arms," the man was flirting with me.

I chuckled nervously and looked to either side for an escape route.

"Shall I get a drink for you?" He asked again.

"What the hell are you doing here?" The booming voice of Kashinath startled both of us.

"Nath," the other man greeted Kashinath as he came and stood beside us with a scowl on his face.

Now why the hell is he scowling?

"Why the hell were you hugging her?" Kashinath asked the other man and his eyes widened in surprise

"I wasn't hugging her," the other man said, still a confused frown on his face.

"I saw it," Kashinath bit out furiously.

"Not that it is any of your business, Nath, but she slipped and was about to fall and I just helped her out," the other man said dryly.

Kashinath took down the clip holding my hair together, letting it fall down in waves.

I looked at him in horror.

"What have you done?" I asked him in disbelief.

"Leave your hair open." Kashinath bit out.

"Are you crazy? Do you have any idea how many video tutorials I watched before getting that messy bun look right?" I asked in disbelief.

I felt like crying. I have spent so much time on getting the messy bun look right and he ruined it with just a snap of his fingers.

Ignoring my words, he turned to the other man and spoke.

"And, it is my business, Salaar. Meet Arohi Sharma," Kashinath said, wrapping a possessive arm around my waist. I shivered when he touched me so possessively.

"Arohi? As in your fiancee Arohi?" The other man asked in surprise.

How does he know? Kashinath hadn't made any official announcement regarding our engagement and this is our first official appearance as a couple. Then how did this man know I am Kashinath's fiancee.

"That's weird. How can your best friend not know your fiance, Mr Agnivanshi?'' An old man asked, coming towards us.

Best friend?

Who is this man now? He looked very familiar, but I couldn't figure out where I had met him before.

"Hello Mr Brahma," it was the other man who greeted the older man.

Oh! So, this is Mr Brahma. That's why he looked familiar. I saw him at the Mehrotra party.

Old Mr Brahma was looking at Kashinath, with an eyebrow raised in query.

He is still waiting for an answer for the question he asked before.

Kashinath's best friend laughed.

"Honestly, Mr Brahma. I have had the same doubts until now. Why did he never introduce me to his fiance? I had even wondered whether he had imagined this fiance up. Now I know why," the man said in a joking manner.

"What?" Mr Brahma asked in confusion.

"Well, bestfriend or not, if I had met this beautiful woman before Kashinath locked her with a ring, I would have tried to woo her myself. Who wouldn't want to?" The other man said, looking at me with appreciation in his eyes.

"Hold your tongue, Salaar," Kashinath bit out furiously.

Salaar? As in Alok Salaar? Kashinath's legal advisor. Who is the only person who knows about our contract?

Mr Brahma laughed.

"It was nice meeting you child. Arohi, isn't it? That was what Kashinath told me a couple of weeks ago," Mr Brahma said.

"Yes sir. Arohi Sharma." I said with a sweet smile.

"But you do look familiar. Have we met before?" Mr Brahma asked.

Oh God! Yes, he might have seen me at the Mehrotra party. Not that we were introduced. But green eyes are like a beacon. It attracts even unwanted attention.

"Uh! I don't think so, Mr Brahma. I have never been to Coorg before," I said and he nodded his head.

"Okay. Please do enjoy the party," he said and walked to another group of people to make small conversations.

I let out a breath of relief, which was short lived when I saw the furious look on Kashinath's face.

"I told you to wait for me," Kashinath bit out.

"I don't like being ordered around," I shot back defiantly.

"It was not an order," he said.

"It sounded so," I retorted dryly.

"Why do you have to argue on every single thing I say?" Kashinath asked impatiently.

"I am not arguing. I am simply stating that I am right," I said with a casual shrug.

I heard the other man chuckling and I looked at him to see him looking at me with amusement dancing in his eyes.

"Alok Salaar. Nice meeting you, Miss Sharma," the other man said and extended his hands for a shake.

Before I could reach his hands, Kashinath did.

"I think you guys have had enough of an introduction already," Kashinath bit out, making me frown.

What is wrong with this guy?

"Nath? I am confused," Alok said.

"What?" Kashinath snapped.

"I didn't realise what a good actor you are. You are playing up the jealous possessive fiance role very well," Alok said, impressed by Kashinath's acting skills.

The words Alok uttered sobered me up.

Acting!

I should not forget that.

Even Kashinath was looking shocked and uncomfortable after hearing what Alok said.

Why?

Kashinath's pov!

"I didn't realise what a good actor you are. You are playing up the jealous possessive fiance role very well" Alok said and I stiffened hearing his words.

Playing up?

I wasn't playing up anything! And that realisation made me all the more uncomfortable.

I had walked into the ballroom to the sight of Arohi in Alok' arms. I felt like punching the daylights out of him for touching her.

The sight of his hands on her bare back made me want to break all his limbs and leave him bedridden.

How dare he touch my woman?

Again! That possessive claim again!

And he had the gall to flirt with her.

Okay, Kashinath! Relax! You are behaving out of character.

But you are doing it right! Mr Brahma seems to have believed whatever Alok said.

Maybe my subconscious mind is just making me do these things so that everything would be perfect.

It has got nothing to do with reality.

I was satisfied with that excuse and I felt relieved.

The next couple of hours passed with us walking around the ballroom, making small conversations with the people.

I could see the way men were staring at Arohi. The desire in their eyes was very clear. The only reason none of them are approaching is the thunderous look on my face, directed at anyone who had the gall to look at the woman in my arms!

They knew better than to make an enemy out of Kashinath Agnivanshi! One wrong move from anybody, I wouldn't hesitate to ruin them.

Soon the cake cutting was over and the ballroom opened for dancing. The first dance was by Mr Brahma himself and his lovely wife. They moved gently across the floor in sync with the music.

"Oh my! Look at them. So much in love even at this age," Arohi gushed seeing the old couple looking at each other adoringly.

Love? Does it exist? For the first time I wondered after seeing the visible love between the Senior Brahma couple.

Damn!

What am I even thinking?

There is nothing like real love!

Even this Senior Brahma might have had his share of extra marital affairs. He was just good at keeping it a secret.

Well, you haven't had a woman in your life ever since you met Arohi, my alter ego pointed out.

Only because I haven't had her yet. Once I have her in my bed, I will definitely lose interest. This is just the pull of the Forbidden, I argued back.

My alter ego scoffed at my excuse and I decided to ignore it.

Other couples too joined the dance floor.

"Shall I have this dance?" I asked, forwarding my hand.

Arohi placed her hand on mine and I pulled her to the dance floor.

It was slow music playing.

We fell in step, letting the rhythm control our movements. All the people around us dissolved. It was her and I, alone.

Her emerald eyes glistened, and a smile spread across her beautiful face.

Uncontrollable feelings surged through my body, and my fingers tingled in delight.

My hand brushed across her cheek as though they have a mind of their own. My body was acting on its own, no chains to hold me back from this pure paradise.

I drew her close to my chest, and she wrapped her arms around my neck.

My hands moved over her bare back, caressing every inch of her accessible skin.

I could feel her shuddering in my arms.

"Kashinath," she gasped.

"Hmmm," I hummed, enjoying every moment of touching her.

"What are you doing?" She whispered and her voice had turned thick.

Her pupils were dilated. I could feel her nippled hardening against my chest.

Damn!!

"Kashinath, please," she said huskily, as she closed her eyes, feeling my touch.

"What are you doing to me, Arohi?" I groaned against her ears.

A distinct cough snapped us out of the sensual haze. It was Alok, looking at us in amusement.

"What?" I snapped.

"Well, the music ended a couple of minutes ago. The buffet has started. If you guys are done feeling up each other, shall we go and eat?" Alok asked bluntly.

Arohi had turned a darker shade of red and she looked as if she wished the earth would open up and swallow her fully.

"Excuse me. I need the restroom," she said and hurried away from us.

"What the hell is your problem?" I snapped at Alok who in turn looked too amused for his own good.

"What? I just let you guys know that the music's over. It is not good to copulate, with a two hundred or more audience around," Alok said dryly and I glared at him.

"You made her uncomfortable. Is that how you talk in front of a woman?" I asked and he looked genuinely surprised.

"You are behaving in an odd way, Nath," Alok said, shaking his head.

"Let's go," I said and moved towards where the food was being served.

Alok took a plate and looked at me waiting for me to do the same.

"Uh! Let Arohi come too," I said.

"Kashinath Agnivanshi waiting for a woman?" Alok asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well, she doesn't know anyone here," I said.

"Mr Agnivanshi, Mr Salaar," we looked sideways to see Yuvan Brahma greeting us.

The eldest grandson of Senior Brahma. He is a business genius and has taken Brahma Corps to the next level.

"Mr Brahma," I said, acknowledging his presence.

"Where is your lovely fiance?" Yuvan asked, making me frown.

Why does he want to see Arohi now?

He chuckled seeing the frown on my face.

"I was just shocked when Grandpa said you are bringing your fiance for the party," Yuvan said with a shrug.

"You and your grandfather discuss about me?" I asked in confusion.

"Not really. The conversation just came up randomly," Yuvan said.

A loud crash startled everyone present there.

The sight made all the blood drain from my face.

Oh God!
