Halloween wasn't far now. Anubis watched over the girls. Even though he was now a man he still acted as a loyal guard dog. He knew all too well the pain the girls endured since they were put in the orphanage.

Long ago...

      Hecate was a dear friend of his. So he knew her attachment to the girls was nothing short of urgent. In fact, he's always wondered why Hecate was so urgent in her decision.

      "My Lady, why are you so urgent in this decision ? Why bless them ?" Hecate smiled walking with her dear friend. "I sensed great power within them. They will have the power to bring me back..." Anubis was beyond confused. Was Hecate sick ?

        She sensed his stress & confusion. " I grow weak, Anubis. Hades was abundantly clear that he hated that I helped search for Persephone..." Anubis snarled. "So you'll be a mere spirit soon ?" Hecate didn't say anything else. But it was all too clear. Her helping Demeter find Persephone resulted in Hades fighting back. Cursing her to soon be trapped as a spirit unless a coven of witches could break that curse.

                "What is it that you want from me, Lady Hecate ?" She smiled caressing his face & dog ears that sat upon his head. Only in the Underworld in a human state would he still manifest physical dog features. "When it is time, please guard them. They are the only difference between me being locked as a spirit or being free of Hades."

        Anubis' red eyes watered as he bowed his head respectively. "I promise to guard them, Lady Hecate."

Back to the  present...

          The girls have been training nonstop. Anubis looked just as drained. He also looked a bit maniacal. "Are you alright ? You haven't rested since we all were awoken." He looked at Jeongyeon. "Halloween is literally a night away. I can't rest..."

         Jeongyeon was starting to see that Anubis seemed to hold a lot of pain. "Does this have anything to do with why you're pushing our training so hard ?" Anubis went quiet. She bowed before going back to her training.

       Anubis was conflicted nonetheless. He promised to protect them, but what of himself? Sure enough Hades will drag him back to the Underworld after learning he helped Hecate. What of the other Olympians ?

             Anubis watched them practice their magics relentlessly. They were powerful indeed. But were they powerful enough ? Would all their effort be for absolutely nothing ? He worried. So much was at stake already. Will they fail ?
