Christmas special

(Fanart by @WicketVids)

Oooookay, so... I'm late.

I would have finished and posted this earlier, but Christmas time is busy time in my household, for literally everyone. So I apologise you received this 3 days late...

Anyway.

This is a oneshot in which Y/N learns about traditional winter activities Hyrule participates in. She's fascinated to find how differently the people of this world celebrate this time of year, but can't help one or two references to her own holidays slip out. This of course doesn't go unnoticed by Link, who is determined to make this time of year one to remember.

Disclaimer: All festivities and traditions mentioned are completely headcanon. I have no clue whether Hyrule even has these types of holidays. But it's a nice thing to think about, don't you think?

This oneshot has nothing to do with the storyline of Boaw, so you don't need to worry about time skips or spoilers or anything like that. In this scenario, the reader and Link are already a couple, and have been rooming together in a cute cottage in Hateno for quite some time now (I think Y'all know the one).

Well then. Shall we?

—-

It seemed as if the flurry clouds from mount Lanayru had travelled from the peak just for this time of year, as now Hateno village was covered in a blanket of fluffy white snow. Winter was off to a magical start, it seemed, and everyone was loving the fun yet chilly weather. I watched a group of children playing around through the window of my home, a hand holding up my chin while the other pushed my spoon around the bowl of breakfast on the table. It seemed to be rather lively in Hateno this morning.

A hand suddenly came into my vision and snapped its fingers, causing me to jerk back and blink. I craned my neck back to look up, only to find a familiar face looming over nine with an arched eyebrow and a small smirk.

"Are you still in the room with us?" He teased, and I let out an irritated yet amused snort.

"Hello to you too," I sat up straight and grabbed my bowl, which was in fact empty, and balanced it on top of the one in his other hand. He rolled his eyes and moved over to the sink, dropping them into it and turning to me completely.

"What were you looking at anyway?"

"Uhhhh, well..." I rubbed the back of my neck "The villagers... they err... they seem a little more 'jolly' than usual. And that's saying something, because Hateno is a happy place..."

"Oh. Oh!" His eyes suddenly lit up, as if he had thought of some kind of grand idea "Put on some warm clothes, and I'll show you why they're acting this way."

"But the dishes—,"

"Fun now, responsibilities later," he was suddenly by the hangers next to the door, and wasted no time tossing me my coat, which landed over my head. I pulled it down instantly, roughing up my recently brushed hair, and blew a strand of it away from my face in slight annoyance. Link was already nearly done 'gearing up', as he sent me a grin "C'mon, you're curious, aren't you?"

I sighed and stood, reaching through the armholes of my coat "Yes..." I muttered begrudgingly as I picked up my gloves. "Honestly hun, you need to get into the swing of independent living."

"Yeah, sure, love. Who's the one that cooks the meals? Literally all you do is nag."

I threw one of my gloves at him, causing him to block with his arm and laugh victoriously. He picked up the leather hand garment and stepped towards me, expression suddenly gentle.

"I'm not serious, by the way. You're more put together out of the two of us; I'm pretty sure nothing would get done otherwise," he took my hand in his own and slipped the glove onto it, lacing his fingers through mine after "But everyone needs a break once in awhile, right?"

My cheeks grew warm under his gaze. How he was still able to have this affect on me was pretty extraordinary... I gave his hand a small squeeze, and smiled when he squeezed back, before sighing and nodding.

"Okay... but you'll be washing up when we're done."

He rolled his eyes, but agreed anyway, and with that he began dragging me out the door and towards the main part of the village. Our house was a little more isolated from the rest of the townspeople, but honestly I was not complaining. I rather enjoyed the peace after the journey Link and I endured. We walked across the bridge leading to the rest of Hateno side by side, Link playfully swinging our hands as we walked. As we neared the shops and houses, I noticed that adults were helping one another hang up lanterns and decorations, and setting up stalls all across the sides of the path. I raised an eyebrow in confusion, but still followed Link's footsteps. Besides, all this, as well as the gently falling snow was quite a sight to admire quietly.

"Hey, what are they selling over there?" I asked, pointing to a stall which had wood stacked up next to it. A man and a woman sat by it, both carving chunks into something not quite identifiable yet. Link smiled and changed course, so that we were now heading towards the stall. The table was stocked with finished carvings of some kind of beast, with a long body and multiple legs— wait a minute.

"Is..." I gently lifted one of the carvings, which was beautifully made, and turned it around in my hands "Is this a dragon?"

"Of course, lass," the man spoke, looking up from his work "You do know what day it is, right?"

I blinked, with absolutely no clue on what day it was. I looked over to Link for help, but he was already way ahead of me and slung an arm around my shoulders.

"She's from another kingdom overseas. She moved here basically blind of our traditions and all that, so forgive her for being clueless. She did not do her research."

Was... was that a jab at me because I told him that I never studied back in my world?! Wow, boyfriend of the year...

"This is Naydra's fest, love." Answered the voice of the woman behind us, as I turned to listen to her "It's been a tradition for centuries , that on this very night we throw a parade for the spirit dragon of wisdom Naydra, to commemorate when our hero 10,000 years ago travelled to the peak of mount Lanayru for the spirit's help to protect the land from evil. Nobody knows what exactly happened that day, but ever since then, Naydra flies over the entire land of Hyrule on this very date. And it's said that if you find one of her scales on the night, you will be eternally wise..."

"No, no! You got it wrong!" The man spoke up "'If you find her scale, you'll never be lost' that's how the legend goes!"

The woman scoffed, pointing her carving knife at him threateningly "I don't know what legend you've heard, but it's most definitely flawed and wrong."

"For the love of the goddesses, woman, why can't you just admit you're miseducated, and you're passing that incorrect knowledge onto these youngsters!"

"I'll admit I'm wrong when I'm wrong, which is never! Unlike you!"

"Hag!"

"Wrinkly old prune!"

The two turned away from each other with a humph, leaving Link and I stuck in the middle, confused as all hell. The woman sighed and rubbed her temple, addressing the two of us again.

"Sorry, you two... my brother and I have heard different things regarding Naydra's scales... I suppose it's hard to say for sure, because neither of us have ever seen her."

"You haven't?"

She shook her head, "My parents and grandparents told me she stopped appearing after the Calamity, but honestly I believe it's just an excuse to lead us away from the possibility that it never happened in the first place. I mean, the elderly of the village seem pretty persistent to say it's the truth, but you can't exactly believe what you haven't seen without any suspicion."

I bit my lip. I remember coming across Naydra; she was laying above the spring of wisdom, infected with Malice when Link and I found her. Maybe that was why she stopped coming? Link seemed to have the same thoughts, but when I looked at him, he was smiling. Maybe it was because we had freed Naydra on our journey? Of course, the townspeople had no way of knowing that... but... now, maybe Naydra would return tonight?

I guess only time will tell. Well, in the near future, really.

"Regardless," The woman continued, bringing our attention back to her "It's a nice way to get the village together, this festival, and the decorations are just lovely don't you think?"

I looked behind us where the lights and decor were still being hung, and connected opposite houses together. The sight of it made me smile softly; it... sort of reminded me of...

"Y/N?" Link called, a hand on the small of my back "You looked kinda sad all of a sudden, are you okay?"

Did I look sad?

"Oh, no, I was just thinking about... stuff," I placed the wooden carving of Naydra back on the shelf and bowed to the two carvers "Thank you for educating me, since my boyfriend seemingly couldn't do it himself. Have a good time at the festival."

"You too, lass." The man showed us a grin "Happy Naydra's fest to both of you!"

Bidding our farewells, Link and I continued down the snowy path.

"Why didn't you buy that carving?" Link suddenly asked "It looked like you really liked it."

"I did, but somebody dragged us out without grabbing any rupees." I responded, glancing at his sheepish expression with narrowed eyes.

"Oh yeah..."

Rolling my eyes I snuggled into my coat, to shield my cheeks from the cold bite of the winter air. But that still didn't stop me from admiring the villagers' work.

"It's like Christmas..."

"What?"

F*ck.

I turned away from Link's curious eyes, but he pulled me right back to directly meet my eyes. "What's Christmas?" He asked, his expression showing me he wasn't going to let up. I pursed my lips together and rubbed my arm awkwardly, mentally cursing myself for bringing up something from my world when Link should be enjoying his holidays.

"It's nothing—,"

"Y/N," Link warned "Remember what we talked about; if you don't want to tell me something, let me know. Because if you just brush it off with 'it's nothing' I'm gonna start thinking it's something bad."

I winced, before sighing and turning to him apologetically "You're right, I'm sorry. I just didn't want to start talking about something from my world when you were clearly excited about this."

"Yeah, buuuut now I'm curious." He smiled, eyes filled with curiosity "The fact it's your world just makes it more interesting."

"You sure you wouldn't rather..." I trailed off when his brow raised, something I knew he did when I was unnecessarily steering the conversation in a different direction. I sighed "Okay fiiiiiine... Christmas is only one of the holidays celebrated at this time of year in my world, but it's the one I celebrate - or, celebrated. Traditionally it's to celebrate the son of our God's birth, but it's also a time to spend with your family, exchange gifts, go carolling and generally spread happiness and Christmas cheer. I bet that sounds cheesy..."

Link chuckled "Nah, I'm enjoying this."

"Really?"

"Of course," he reached for my hand again "You know I like hearing about your life before all this, it helps me feel closer to you."

Despite the cold weather, I felt my cheeks heat up yet again and my heart flutter. Those sorts of comments seem to come so easily for him... I cleared my throat and opted to continue.

"Oh, and there's this guy called Santa Claus, that sneaks in and night and leaves presents under a tree we call the Christmas tree! Only for people who are good though."

"Santa Claus... wait a minute, didn't you call the king that before he revealed himself?" The boy asked.

"Huh? Oh, yeah I did. I mean, he looked like Santa, and laughed like him."

"Wow... I mean, he definitely gave us something."

"Oh it was something alright..." I grimaced, before putting on a high and childish voice "Mama! Santa gave me an emotionally pressuring journey with a load of PTSD for Christmas!!!"

Link snorted loudly and brought my gloved hand to his lips, chuckling behind it as he placed a small kiss against the fabric. My expression grew tender, and I gently squeezed his hand in my own.

Should I?

Maybe...

Okay yes, I should.

"I mean, the chance to travel with you was a pretty great gift, though..." I muttered under my breath, but when I looked up at him, it was worth it. His cheeks were pink, and his jaw was wide open, it was like the face he made when we kissed for the first time... I giggled and slipped two fingers under his chin, closing his mouth for him "What, am I not allowed to say cute sh*t?"

He swallowed practically nothing and cleared his throat, his free hand rubbing the back of his head "N-No, it was just... that cuteness caught me off guard and I wasn't prepared to take it in."

Aww.

I smiled and leaned up to peck his cheek, which was warm from his blush despite the cold air. He rolled his eyes, but couldn't hide the smile creeping onto his face as we moved our feet to walk again.

"So... any other things I should know?" He asked, and I chuckled.

"I'll tell you more, if you tell me more about Naydra's fest right after."

"That's a deal I don't mind making."

I laughed, before calming down and thinking about what to say "Well... some people make their own Christmas traditions too..."

"They do?"

"Yeah! Me and my roommate for example; on the evening before Christmas we would just sit with cups of hot chocolate in front of the window, and roast marshmallows over a single candle flame. It's simple, but I loved those nights where we just waited for Christmas Day to roll by, and— Link?"

Link flinched, turning to me with a rather bashful smile "Sorry, I am still listening. I just saw those gloves over there and... remembered that mine are getting slightly worn."

I turned to where he was looking, to see a pair of leather fingerless gloves on display. So he wanted new gloves, huh?

I secretly allowed myself to smile.

"So, you like simple things you say?" Link suddenly changed subjects "Want to make things simple for me, and do the dishes when we get home?"

I almost felt one of my veins pop.

"Haha, you're funny... Hey Link," I spoke mischievously "Close your eyes for a minute, I want to show you something else I used to do at Christmas."

"Ummmm..." he seemed hesitant, but did so anyway "Okay?"

I waved my hand in front of his face to make sure he wasn't peeping, smirking when I got the all clear and bending down to grab a handful of snow.

"So, what's this thing you—AH!!" Link shrieked out when I shoved the snow down the back of his coat, and jumped up and down while trying to get it out "Y/N!"

Laughing, I ran down the path to escape, Link's yells of 'I'll get you back' right behind me. We got a few weird looks from the villagers, but most just smiled at the sight of young love and that kind of cliche crap.

I had been fully prepared to accept last year would be my last Christmas, but when Link let me talk about it, I didn't feel so bad about it anymore.

Besides, Naydra's fest sounds pretty fun—

"Gotcha!!" Link yelled as he tackled me to the ground, and I came face first into the wet cold snow. I tried to scramble up, but the boy had straddled my waist before I could move. Link chuckled mischievously and grabbed two handfuls of snow, holding them up above his head "Ready for a helping of payback~?"

Oh, Christmas nuts...

—-

Night was drawing near, and preparations for the parade were just about done. Families were out browsing and gawking at the decorations, and even the number of travellers visiting had increased tonight, just to join in on the excitement.

Link and I would have been just as excited, if we weren't shivering by a campfire not too far from the main part of Hateno.

I opened my mouth to speak.

"Ah, don't," Link silenced me before I could get a sound out "You fired the first shot."

"And you made it a war!" I retorted, rubbing my hands together "What, I was supposed to just let you rub snow into the back of my neck?"

The boy said nothing, but poked his tongue out at me childishly instead. As mad at one another as we tried to act, we were really just mildly annoyed and a little more amused. We had already gotten used to these kinds of mini battles, and more than one of our previous brawls had ended with us soaking and shivering, so this really wasn't anything new.

But it also meant we weren't getting front row seats for the parade... I suppose we only have ourselves to blame.

What we did see however, was our village tour guide stand on top of one of the stall tables, gaining the attention of most people standing around waiting for the parade to start. He cleared his throat and began to speak in a loud booming voice.

"Welcome all, to Hateno's annual Naydra's fest! We know this is a tradition spread across all of Hyrule, so we appreciate that you chose to celebrate it in our village!" He silenced his speech for a moment, allowing his audience to cheer, before picking it up again "This will be our hundredth festival since the great calamity, and spirits are still high! Except as you know, we have been missing the most important guest since that horrible time. Naydra, the dragon of ice and sworn protector of the spring of courage has disappeared from our skies, and this event just hasn't been the same since."

Link and I watched in silence; these people still didn't know why Naydra disappeared - or about the pain and suffering she endured for a century. Maybe it was for the better... we all know how reckless Hylians can be if they know about something legendary.

"But that doesn't mean we can't honour her with this parade, and keep her blessing and wisdom in our hearts. Ladies, gentlemen, and children alike! Please make way for our first Naydra's fest, since Ganon was defeated by our lovely heroes!"

Once again the crowd cheered, and their heads turned to see a boy dressed in blue with a hood, followed by a large paper dragon puppet controlled by people inside it. That must've been the hero from 10,000 years ago, the one that asked for Naydra's blessing. Around them, kids held baskets of paper scales, and threw handfuls of them to the crowd, and the were loving it. I turned to Link, and he was enjoying it too. Seeing his ancestor's achievements recognised like this... maybe his achievements will be celebrated one day as well—

"What is that?!" A woman's yell caused everyone to stop, even the parade, and look up at where a lone finger pointed. A large, serpent creature was descending from the mountains, its body twisting as it flew through the air and towards the village. Everyone began to panic, but I just stared at it with narrowed eyes. Link seemed to think exactly what I was thinking, and momentarily abandoned the warmth of the fire to yell over the chaos.

"Wait!" He practically demanded "She's not going to hurt you! Just watch!"

Some villagers didn't listen, but others stopped in confusion and curiosity as they once again gazed up at the beast. She turned her nose up slightly to change her course, so now she would fly over the village instead of through it. Through closer speculation, her long body was white as snow, and an icy blue glow pulsed around her magnificent scales. An icy crown sat upon her head, and her magnificent claws scooped the air as she practically glided through it. Soft growls emitted from her throat as she began flying overhead, now leaving even the panicked villagers speechless with her size and elegance. The draft from her overwhelming strides caused a draft to blow through the village, forcing parents and caretakers to hold onto their children, but that did not stop them from watching in awe.

"I-It's her!" The guide from before yelled, voice cracking "Naydra has returned to us! It was the heroes, they found her didn't they!"

The village erupted again, but not from fear. They jumped for joy and even shed a few tears at the mere sight of Naydra. The legends were true... this was living proof!

But that wasn't the end of it.

Naydra let out a powerful roar that shook even Hebra peak, all the way on the other side of Hyrule, and as she did a glowing mark appeared on her body. For a minute, I thought I saw the dragon's purple eyes on me, but before I could even react the light from her side flew right towards me. Link saw it coming and rushed over to pull me back, even though I could very well do it myself, but his eyes remained glued on the light. It came down closer, and closer, until it landed with an almost holy pulse right by our campfire.

We already knew what it was; we had seen it happen before, but the sight of it was still magical.

Naydra's scale...

I approached slowly and picked up the titanic scale, it's weight forcing my arms to straighten as I lifted it from the ground. It still had a faint icy glow to it...

The villagers, who had watched what went down clapped and cheered for us as we stared down at the ancient dragon's gift. We had acquired her blessing.

"You know what this means," Link spoke from beside me "We're eternally wise."

I smiled, but that soon turned into a mischievous smirk "Actually it means we'll never be lost."

"Oh come on! We're really doing this?!"

"Absolutely, babe! No hesitation about it!"

—-

The morning rays hit my face and pulled me awake, but I hid myself under the covers. It was too early, and the bed was too warm for my to get up. I didn't feel like doing anything today, I had no reason to... after all, today was Christmas... and I wasn't celebrating it this year.

I sighed to myself and shrunk into the pillows, relishing in the warmth while I tried to fall back asleep.

But of course, I have a boyfriend.

The abrupt feeling of the mattress sinking brought me back to life, but I still didn't dare open my eyes. It was still too early, even for the idiot shaking me awake.

"Y/N... Y/N, wake up..." Link whispered close to my face, whining when I slapped his hand away "Come onnnn, wake up! I didn't wake up early for nothing!"

"That was your mistake..." I grumbled "Shoo, leave me in peace...!"

"Y/N..."

"No, no, and umm... no."

Link huffed, but then I felt him climb on top of me, and my pillow sinking as he placed his hands either side of my head "I'll bring out the big guns..."

"Link," I pulled the blanket up further "If you even think about tickling me, I'll—"

Something warm and soft pressed against my cheek, then my temple, and then my jaw, and continued to pepper small kisses all over my face. It was in no way unpleasant, but it did keep me from drifting off. However, when it stopped, that caused me to crack open an eye to see Link hovering over me with a victorious smirk.

"Why'd you stop?" I whined sleepily, no longer caring that he had succeeded and I rubbed my eyes. The boy slowly sat up and grinned.

"You want more?" He leapt off the bed "You'll have to see what I've done first."

"Why?"

"Because I think you'll really like it."

"Why?"

"Because—"

"Why?"

"Are you—," he paused "Are you just gonna say why to everything I say?"

"Why?"

"Oh my goddesses you are..."

"Wh—mph!"

Link slapped his hand over my mouth before I could finish one last 'why', and irritated huff drawn from his lips as he leaned over "Okay look, I know you hate getting up early, but I thought it will add to the effect. Come on, just come see, and if you don't like it I promise I'll let you sleep for the whole morning."

I pulled his hand down "From now till 11?"

"As long as you want." He straightened and held a hand out to me "But you gotta see what I've set up first."

I stared up at him suspiciously; what could possibly be so important for him to be this persistent... but he did pipe my curiosity, so I slid my hand into his and rose to my feet. Link seemed happy at my decision and therefore smiled.

"Close your eyes," he whispered "And no peeking, I promise I'll lead you with care."

"Close my eyes? Sooooo, why couldn't you do this while I was asleep?"

He raised an eyebrow, and I sighed, my eyes fluttering closed. Link reached down and took my other hand, holding them both in front of us as he began walking backwards with me following his steps.

"Okay, the stairs are here," he told me "Watch your step."

I nodded, my feet slowly moving from step to step while as my grip on his hands tightened. He had me, and I trusted him with everything I had. I wasn't gonna—

I slipped.

"Fu—!"

Link brought me into his sturdy hold before could bring harm to either of us, sighing in relief after "You good?" I nodded, as my face was squished into his chest and I couldn't speak. He chuckled and slowly pushed me up straight.

"Eyes still closed?"

"Yup."

"Well, not for much longer..." he was now beside me, an arm around my shoulders to lead me to wherever we were going. Before I knew it, I was lowered into a sitting position on what I assumed was one of our dining chairs. I heard Link take a deep breath, and then he took a step back "Okay... You can open them."

My eyes slowly opened and welcomed the light waiting to greet them, fully expecting to see Link in front of me... but I got something else.

My hands flew up to my mouth as my eyes lay upon a small tree in the corner of our house, decorated with different coloured flowers and even acorns weaved through the branches. Hung upon the wall was Naydra's scale, still glimmering with an icy blue hue, held up by a display frame decorated by plants and even small berries. Link stood by it and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.

"I know this probably isn't all that accurate to the Christmas you're used to, and it probably seems like I just grabbed whatever I could find to make this stuff... but I just figured that if you can't celebrate it in your world, I'd bring Christmas to you... and, well... Did I do alright?"

"Uh, yeah!" I sprang up immediately and threw my arms around him, practically bouncing off my heels while hugging him tightly "You didn't have to do this, Link, but the fact you did makes me happier than you could imagine! This... all of this is beautiful!"

"You really like it?!"

I pulled away and held him by the shoulders "Wellllllllll I think you're the best boyfriend ever right now, if that's any closure."

Link laughed softly, his arms looping around my waist to pull me to him as he rested his chin on my shoulder "Very much so..." He let me go suddenly, much to my disappointment "That's not all; look under the tree!"

Frowning, I slowly looked down to see a box. It wasn't wrapped in any way, but it had a label with my name on it. I bent down and picked it up, looking up at Link for confirmation, before opening the lid to reveal a carved model of a dragon. I recognised it immediately as one of the Naydra figures those carvers were making.

"I know you liked them, so I went over to see if that woman and her brother had any more to spare." Link smiled down at me as I trailed my fingers over the magnificent woodwork on the sculpture "Turns out they put one on the side for us. You know, just in case."

My lips curved into a small grin as I placed the dragon onto the table "I love it...thank you." I whispered, and Link nodded with a tender look in his eyes.

"Of course...it's the holidays after all."

"True... oh!" I pulled away from him for just a moment, dashing upstairs to rummage through the drawers "I think this is as good of a time as any to give this to you; I've had it for awhile and, well, since we're giving gifts... well..." I jogged back downstairs and held another box out to him. "Yeah... merry Christmas."

Link blinked in surprise, but snapped out of it before it seemed like he was keeping me in suspense for too long. He took the box gratefully and opened it up, eyes widening as they moved up to me, and then back down to the contents. A pair of new, intact pair of leather gloves - almost identical to his current pair sat inside. "H-How long have you had these?"

"About a month," I shrugged, averting my gaze "I had actually noticed your old ones aren't aging well, and I kinda brought it upon myself to get you these... I just didn't know when to give it to you. But yesterday when you said you wanted a new pair, well, I was mentally patting myself on the back. They're probably not as good as the ones you saw at the festival, but I—"

Link had been trying on his gift while I had been talking, but before I could finish talking he had my face between his now gloved hands. "I'm going to stop you there. I love them, and the fact you noticed before I did only makes them better. Thank you..."

I smiled softly and placed my hand over his "Of course... so did you enjoy your first Naydra's fest/Christmas in 100 years?"

"Absolutely..."

.

.

.

"What?" I asked after a long moment of just silent staring "Are you waiting for something?"

"Actually yes..." his lips curled into a mischievous grin "Just for you to look up..."

I raised an eyebrow, but with curiosity always getting the best of me I slowly craned my neck to glance at the ceiling. I snapped it back down immediately, face burning "You sly little..."

Link chuckled "I did get it right, didn't I? A couple kissing under mistletoe?"

"Yes, you got it right...." I turned my face away in a poor attempt to hide my growing blush "It's also cliche as hell..."

"I'm allowed to be cliche sometimes, right?" He practically teased as he stepped closer "Come on, didn't you say it's bad luck to refuse?"

"I-I didn't say no!" I squeaked "It's just that... you could've just asked."

"Yeah but I find this way more romantic."

"Even when I'm in my pajamas with bed hair?"

"Do you want a verbal answer, or should we just get on with it?"

"I..." I trailed off, my lip between my teeth in thought, "You know what, f*ck it, it's Christmas. Pucker up, Santa's helper!"

Link's bubbly laugh was cut off by my lips as they collided against his, but he was quick to respond as he reached one arm behind me to hook around my lower back, while his other hand slid up my arm and round my shoulder until it held the back of my head. I hummed happily and hugged his shoulders to pull him closer, hopeful that this kiss will not only show my love for him, but how grateful I was for these past couple of days.

I may not be able to spend Christmas in my world. I may not be able to spend it with family, or my friends in college. I may not be where I used to call home... But I had never felt merrier and full of Christmas spirit than I do now...

I slowly pulled away from the boy and cupped Link's cheek, my smile gentle and loving as I stared up at him. He placed a hand on top of mine and turned his face into my touch, kissing the inside of my palm.

"So..." he began "I know I said you can sleep in if you didn't enjoy this, but... Christmas morning snuggles?"

"I'd have to be a crazy person to decline that," I began dragging him towards the stairs "Which I'm not! Come on, if we're lucky, the bed will still be warm!"

Happy Holidays, y'all!!!!
