"If you give me caffeine and let me leave here, I swear I'll do anything you want."
Floating Ocean Prison, April 2016-
It had been three days since Tony Stark had dropped by the prison, and in that time everyone had become restless. There was nothing to do, and everyone was mainly sulking in silence. The only time everyone would really talk would be when food came around, and the five had enough energy to actually socialize.
Alison had been taking constant naps, exhausted from doing nothing. She was normally awake when everyone else was asleep during the night, her mind plagued with the thoughts of Charles and how he was doing. To say that she was missing her younger brother was an understatement at the very least.
The prison guards on duty had come to learn everyone's sleeping schedules, and most of the time when everyone was asleep there wouldn't even be a guard on duty. Alison was stuck through the darkness of the designated sleeping hours alone, with the sound of the waves to pass the time.
It was currently what Alison assumed to be 3 A.M. , as the pitch black still covered the entire prison. Scott was actually awake at the moment, and could be heard pacing around his cell, thinking that everyone else was in a deep sleep and he could worry in peace.
"Scott?" Alison croaked out, speaking in a hushed voice to her "cellmate" as to not wake up everyone else. "You're still awake ?" Her voice was dry and scratchy, having not talked in over 9 hours.
"Unfortunately." Scott laughed, shaking his head with slight amusement. "The thought of my daughter had been keeping me awake all night. Even though I don't have custody of her, she's still my daughter, and the light of my life."
"Well, I mean, it could be worse. We could be getting beat up, split up from our families forever, being sued-" Alison stopped herself, realizing that the last two were actually going to happen in reality if they weren't careful. "A lot of bad things could of happened."
Yawning, Scott paused for a minute before speaking again, changing the subject completely. "I really want a coffee right now. What is it- 4 A.M.?" He suggested a time, sitting back down on what could be considered his bed.
"I assume it's around 3, maybe 3:15 at the latest." Alison shrugged, yawning out of pure nature after hearing Scott's own yawn. "And yeah, caffeine would probably be one of the best things in the universe at the moment. Plus food that isn't mush."
Scott chuckled in agreement, sighing as he thought of actual food. "Food sounds so good. Especially a Boudin sourdough bread bowl with clam chowder and-" The man wanted to go on, but he plopped down on his bed, falling asleep in seconds. Having Cassie out of his thoughts, Scott's mind was comforted- for now, at least.
Alison sighed, hearing Scott fall back onto his bed and crash into sleep. She was laying on her bed, her eyes staring at the top of her ceiling as she played songs stuck in her head over and over again. It was an attempt to help her fall asleep, and it was failing miserably.
Not even five minutes later, the door to the prison containment area slid open, silently slamming against the metal opening that it shuttered open from. A figure stepped out from the darkness, their footsteps echoing through the silent building.
"Alison Marnell?" The shadow asked, trying to find her place in the prison among the weak light that shone through the doorway that had slid open. Alison, seeing the bright light, sat up on her bed to see the shadow of a man lumbering in the center of the open area. The person's face could be faintly seen through the soft rays of light reflecting off them, showcasing the snarky face of a Stark.
"I need to talk to you."
The two were led into a room directly off to the side of the prison cells, tucked away from the rest of the control center and the helicopter landing pad that Alison assumed the man had come in from. It looked to be an interrogation room, which the girl only associated things that would not turn out well with.
"So, I figured out where I remember you from." Tony smirked, breaking the silence that was holding the room captive. Gesturing to the seat across from the one he had pulled out, Tony remained standing, waiting for Alison to sit down. "Not only are you related to Jackie- which I was correct about, by the way- but right after the Battle of New York, I found you in the lobby of Stark Tower. You had been waiting there for over five hours. You were sent there by your mom, who was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, and had just died."
Alison slid into the seat, her grey long sleeved t shirt and blue prison scrubs looking too big on her as she sat back in the seat, a bored and unimpressed look disguising the displease that came with mentioning the Battle of New York. "Good job, you remembered!" Clapping for the man, Alison kicked her feet up on the table, letting her feet block Tony's face. "I'm surprised you did, after all, it's been quite a while."
Sighing, Tony smacked her feet off the wooden table, taking a seat in the chair that he had pulled out earlier. "You confuse me." He declared, unbuttoning the vest that he had been wearing over his dress shirt. "You're a kid with no ties to anything here, and yet, you're here."
"What do you mean by I'm here?" Alison quirked her eyebrow, her face molding into an expression of slight confusion. Leaning forward, an amused look came to her as she realized what he was implying. "You didn't expect for a teenager to be fighting against you in that airport?"
"Well, not only that, but you fought with Captain America, and I have no clue why." Tony sighed, leaning back into his seat. "Now I know why people like Wanda and Clint would be on his team, but you, and that- Ant-Man-"He gestured at the door where Alison had come through, Scott and the rest of the team on the other side. "It's a complete mystery."
"Is that all you came here to ask me?" Alison leaned back in her seat, not amused by Tony's mannerisms and vague questioning. The chair was rather uncomfortable, and the room was colder than the prison cells were. Alison just wanted to get out of the room, and get back to her poor attempts at sleeping. "Or is there an actual reason why you came in here at 3 A.M. to wake me up?"
"Well, technically, from what the feed has been picking up, you're awake during this time every day and you sleep the rest of the day, so I didn't wake you up." Tony leaned over the desk, trying to keep the girl engaged in the conversation. "Regardless, I did come here to discuss things other than why you joined Capsicle's Scooby Doo investigation team."
Tony looked at Alison, who was staring at the ceiling behind Stark, not even truly paying attention to the man. "I was going to give you a deal to get out of here, but if you're too married to the idea of staring at the ceiling, I will leave you to do that."
Alison looked at Stark, surprised by what he had said. "I'm sorry, did you just say I could get out of this depressing Titanic prison?" Her eyes scanned Tony's face, looking for some reason that he would be joking or just trying to get her attention.
"Yeah, but if you want to continue having the worst sleep schedule in the world, feel free. I won't stop you if you don't take this deal." Tony shrugged throwing his hands up in a bland and almost father-ly like look.
"Go ahead then, I'm listening. Sorta." Alison looked at Tony in the eyes, trying to actually listen to what he had to say. "What kind of deal do you have for me to get out of this floating raft prison?"
"I'm so glad you asked." Tony smiled, pointing his finger at the teenager. "Since you're fifteen, and technically can't sign the Sokovia Accords, they're holding you here for the vandalization of public property or something that the US government pulled out of their ass to keep you here. So, I can wave those charges if you do the following."
Pausing, Tony looked over at Alison, who was still listening, staring at Tony with an expectant look. "So basically the government is being the government and I'm stuck here unless I do what you say?" Knowing she was right, Alison shrugged. "I'm not surprised. But how do I get out of here?"
"Well, it's simple, really." Tony fell back in his seat, doing a tone that was dripping with the personality of Tony Stark. There was really no other way to describe it, as Tony was- well, Tony. "First off, you're going to be monitored by someone of my choosing- 24/7. Now that might be me and someone else, or it could be just me. I haven't really decided yet."
After hearing the exasperated sigh from Alison at the idea of being monitored like a child, Tony pressed on. "Second off, you're going to be switching high schools. I already have one kid going to Midtown, my own, and so that means I don't have to go searching all around Queens to find you when I need you."
Alison spoke up at the idea of moving high schools, not finding the reason behind it. "Are you serious? You're making me move high schools out of convenience for you? What kind of condition is that?" She muttered, crossing her arms in a grumble.
"The kind that I made, kid. Now listen, please. We're at the end, and you can go back to your darkness and brooding if you'd like to gather your things after." Tony stated, looking at the girl with an unimpressed glance. He was used to the kind of reactions Alison was giving off, luckily, having a teenage daughter of his own and another kid that was almost like the Avengers' golden child (but technically Clint's) with the same attitude.
"Finally, well, this is more like a reward, now that I think about it, I'm giving you a suit." Tony thought aloud, flashing a small smirk at the girl when he saw Alison smile at the idea of getting a super suit. "Because, let's face it, the one that you were given by your trusty friends on Team Capsicle was not up to standard."
The small smile on Alison's face dropped after Tony retracted his statement, or at least revised it seconds later. "Anyways, even though you're getting a suit, that doesn't mean that you can use it whenever and wherever you want. It's only able to be opened if I let it be opened in an emergency, or if you somehow figure out how to open it. Which, you won't."
"That's a lot of terms." Alison stated, unsure of what else to say for a moment. Instead, she opted to stretch out her arms, yawning as she sat back up at the edge of her seat. Rising out of her seat, Alison watched Tony do the same, the man buttoning up his vest once again.
"The terms have been set, and the deal has been made, kid. So tell me, is it deal or no deal?" Tony asked the girl in an almost game show-like voice, his hand reaching out for her to shake and 'seal the deal'.
"Deal." Alison shook his hand, clapping it tightly and shaking it firmly. Letting go of the hand, Alison yawned for a moment before asking her first question as a free woman.
"Now can we get out of here already?"
