Chapter 13
Continues from the other chapter.
"Alec is cursed." Liam says as he rests against the stage. "It's a really long story," he sighs as I walk forward.
"Tell me." I ask them as I sit opposite them all on the chair.
Nat starts to tell me the truth. "Alec has been cursed by a man called James. He was a Warlock that your mom killed," she says and I frown wondering why all of this mattered." Before Alec could ask him for a loophole of the curse, James died. It was when Alec's curse activated. Anna has been helping him every day. She uses her magic to help him, but the moment he noticed you-" she sighs, "it puts a clock on the curse. He has a month before the curse takes his life."
"Why does he have it?" I ask, confused.
Did he do something terrible?
"It's a long story and I think he should explain that to you," Nat says and I frown.
"Just tell her," Cam mutters and Nat looks at him.
"You tell her. I don't want Alec to get angry at me if word gets out." She rolls her eyes at him.
If word gets out. She doesn't trust me.
"Alec's mom cheated on her mate- Alec's dad, with James. His dad found out and killed his mom. When James found out, he cursed their child which was Alec. He cursed him to die the first month he saw his mate unless she marked him and as you can tell…" Cam drifts off.
"Alec doesn't want me." I finish his sentence off and he nods.
"We should all go home." Liam says to us.
I don't answer him back as we all follow him to the car outside.
Alec was cursed. He would die in a month's time. Why didn't he tell me? He doesn't want a mate.
****
"Cameron!" I call out his name in the darkness.
"He is not here, babygirl," a voice crawls out behind me and I turn around quickly, taking steps back.
"You can't run from me," the man chuckles as I pull on the door handle.
"I will kill you if you lay a hand on her!" I hear Miles voice behind the door.
"Miles miles!" I call out his name as I turn around and try to pull on the door. "Get me out of here! Please!" I plead to him.
I feel a hand wrap around my neck and push my face into the door. I scream as the door rattles, and I hear Miles groaning on the other side, cursing.
"You will always be below us," the man whispers into my ear, his hands trailing under my robe.
"Miles!" I cry out to him.
Please let go
I hold in a scream as I feel the man push my face against the door, and kick my feet out wide. No no no.
"Let…" Miles curses as I hear someone hurt him. "Her...go.." he wheezes out, coughing. "Please," I hear his broken voice.
"Look at what you're doing, hurting everyone around you," the man whispers into my ear as one of his hands rests against my hips.
"Stop!" I scream at him as he pulls on my robe.
"Emily!"
"Emily!"
"Wake up!" I hear a voice call out to me and my eyes open as I scramble away from the voice.
"Don't touch me." I whisper, curling into myself away from the voice.
"Hey hey, it's okay," I feel a hand on my arm. Sparks.
Alec.
I turn towards him and wrap my arms around him tightly. "Please don't leave me." I whisper, holding on tightly as he lifts me up from the bed.
"Sleep with me today," he holds on tightly as I rest my head against his chest, numbness falling over my body as he walks out of the room.
"Stay with me," I mumble as he puts me down on his bed.
"I will." He promises me as darkness drifts me away.
****
The sun shines on my face as I open my eyes and stare at the ceiling.
I let out a deep breath, remembering the nightmare.
Remove it from your mind. Ava says to me as I breath out again.
"Good morning," I hear his voice. I turn my head to the side to see Alec laying on his stomach, his hands under the pillow, and his back completely bare as he looks at me..
"Good morning," I reply, quietly.
I had forgotten that he had come last night and woken me up.
"Are you okay?" He asks as he yawns and sits up in bed.
"Yes. I'm sorry about waking you up last night," I apologise to him as he watches me.
"I couldn't sleep and I heard you screaming," he shrugs his shoulders as he stretches his arms.
"You can have a shower," he points towards the bathroom door as he climbs out of bed.
I feel my face heat up as I shake my head. "One of the side effects of the magic is not being able to move my legs for a while after a nightmare," I explain to him and he stops and watches me, realising I did not sit up.
I take a deep breath and as I let it out,I pull myself up to sit.
Cameron had told me I was going to be paralyzed forever if I kept having nightmares because I was weak. I couldn't control my magic.
"Oh." Alec mumbles and I watch him disappear through another door.
I sigh as I push my hair out of my face. I could just stay here for an hour and then get myself into a hot bath to wake my legs up.
Alec steps out of the closet with a long white shirt and throws it onto the bed before disappearing into the bathroom. Fine.
He walks back out after turning the water on in the bathtub and towards me. I look at him confused as he sits back on the bed and looks at me.
"Come on, you can sit in the bath," he unbuttons the shirt as he gets on his knees on the bed. "I can get the pack doctor to look at your legs for you but you should relax a little." He says to me as he holds out the shirt. "Take it off," he points to my long nightgown.
I stay silent, watching him for a few seconds too long as he raises an eyebrow at me.
"Close your eyes." I say to him. I don't want him to see my scars or see any part of me. He would be disgusted.
Alec closes his eyes and I wait for a few seconds before I pull off my nightgown. I take the shirt off him and wear it quickly.
"Can I open my eyes now?" He asks as I quickly close the last button.
"Yes." I reply.
He smiles at me as he climbs off the bed. "Come on," he tries to lift me up but I shake my head.
"I can go by myself later. Please don't," I say to him and he stands in front of me.
"Emily, you are beautiful and you don't have to hide from me." He smiles at me as he lifts me up from the bed.
Am I dreaming?
Alec walks me into the bathroom and places me on the edge of the bathtub. The tub was filled with bubbles as he turned the water off. He picks me up and places me gently into the bathtub. I let myself float under the bubbles so he could not see through the wet shirt.
I close my eyes and let out a deep sigh.
"Are you okay, Alec?" I ask when he doesn't say anything. I open my eyes to see him sitting on the edge of the bath, staring at me.
"I want to apologise for being a prick to you," he tells me. "I should have told you the truth from the start but opening up isn't something I can do." He runs a hand through his hair as he sighs.
"It's okay." I say to him and he nods as I lay under the bubbles and stare at the white tiled wall in front of me.
"Anna and I aren't really together," he suddenly says. I turn to look at him. "We haven't been together for a while but I do love her. Having a label on the relationship kind of put us on a backseat." He explains.
I don't need to know this.
"Did Nat tell you what happened?" He asks and I nod.
"She told me you're cursed and the only way for the curse to disappear is for you to be marked." I say to him and he nods, watching the bubbles as they float on the water.
"I don't believe in having a mate. I don't like the idea of not being able to choose who you love," he leans back against the tiles, "I fell in love with Anna because she wasn't destined for me. I got to choose for myself." He turns to look at me. "My dad was in love with my mom and she cheated on him for years. They say you can never harm your mate, but I think that's a lie." He chuckles humourlessly. "My dad killed my mom and then the regret killed him later on."
"Not everyone is like that." I'm not like that.
"I want to choose who I love, I don't want to be given someone and told to love them." He tells me.
I nod my head, silently.
"I think I might have found a loophole for the curse," Alec mumbles softly. "We could break the mate bond. I can reject you and the curse should go because I won't have a soulmate."
Reject you. Why?
"What do you think? Do you want to get rid of the mate bond?" He asks as I look at him.
I smile at him as I see the hope in his eyes. "Yes." I lie to him and he stays quiet, nodding to himself.
The silence fills the air as I feel a chill run up my body. He wants to break the bond with me. I don't know how to feel about it.
"Do you really think it would work? What if it doesn't?" I ask him softly.
"I could do some research on it. There might be something about the advantages of breaking a mate bond." He says and I nod my head.
Advantages.
A thought comes to my mind.
"Alec, can I ask you a question?" I say and he nods. "Do you know anything about the Royal Crystal Pack?" I ask.
I watch him freeze and look down at me confused. "Where did you hear about that?" He asks.
I shrug my shoulders. "I just heard the name once."
"Well don't let a rogue hear you say that. The Royal Crystal Pack were a pack of Vampires that lived in the werewolf territory. The vampires like to keep away from the wolves and usually closer to caves because they enjoy the darkness." He starts to explain to me. "The Royal Crystal pack were powerful vampires and they were- like their name says the royals of the supernatural. They were the strongest and the oldest vampires in the world. The bloodline of the Royal Crystal Pack ran pure and they were powerful. The rogues did not like that they were vampires and in charge of everyone." He tells me.
"What happened to them?" I question.
"The rogues got together and burned the castle down. It was centuries ago." He shrugs his shoulders as he stands up.
Sam said I was from their pack. How long have I been dead for? Centuries?
"The castle?"
Alec smiles. "The castle that the Vampires lived in. It is guarded with spells and no one can get in without a pass now. I can take you, if you would like," he offers.
"I would like that very much." I smile as he hands out a towel to me.
"You should get out now. The water looks cold."
I nod my head, telling him to turn around so I could get out of the water. I needed to get dressed in my own room.
***
"Kick it open," Alec nudges me towards the kitchen door. I smile as I look up at him and he curses. "Oh shit yeah." He mutters as he turns around and uses his shoulder to open the door.
I had gotten out of the bath and he had brought me a dress to wear. Alec had closed his eyes tightly as he helped me wear my clothes after I dried my body. Once I was done, he took me to my room and let me brush my teeth and use the toilet, and apply my makeup. Even let me brush my hair.
I found it adorable but all I could think about was how he wanted to break the bond between us. The sparks, they would go. The happiness I felt around him, it would all go.
He had picked me up and was taking me downstairs to the kitchen.
Alec walks inside and puts me on the stool as Nat and Liam stare at me. Nat with her mouth wide open.
"Did you two…" Liam drifts off as I look at him confused.
"Get your mind out of the gutter, you prick," Alec rolls his eyes at him as I turn to Nat.
"Is there any cake?" I ask her.
"There's always cake." She stands up and walks to the fridge. "Alec likes to bake it when he is upset or angry." She says to me as she pulls out a full cake from the fridge and puts it in front of me.
I smile at the cake as I pick up a spoon.
"Do you like cakes?" Alec asks with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes. Miles and I had baked it once many years ago. It was the best thing we ever ate."I smile as I start to eat it. It was not chocolate though.
"That boy from the party that was chasing you?" He frowns.
Miles was hardly a boy. He was two years older than me, nearly 22 but I nod my head at Alec.
"I need to talk to you." Anna walks into the kitchen and looks at Alec.
Alec nods at her and walks out of the kitchen with her.
"Shush." Nat whispers to Liam and I as we hear them walk towards the office.
Minutes or hours fly by as we listen silently but can hardly hear anything from the office.
"The door opened." Nat says and I listen to hear Anna screaming at him about betrayal and Alec growling loudly.
Silence.
"Shit. He killed her!" Nat gasps as she runs towards the door. I try to move my legs and when they move, I smile.
I follow Nat and Liam out of the kitchen to see Anna walking out of the house, slamming the door behind her and Alec walking upstairs.
"Well that was entertaining." Cam steps out of the living room, chuckling at us.
Nat walks towards him, laughing about something.
"Liam," I call out his name before he can disappear into the living room with the others. He turns around to look at me. "Is there a library anywhere here? I would like to read." I ask him and he grins nodding his head.
"If you walk out of the house, and take a left, you should find the pack house. Alec built the library right next to it. It's kind of like a law to have a library in every pack house though hardly anyone reads here," he chuckles as he disappears into the living room.
I follow Liam's instructions and I appear in front of the library. I push the wooden door open and the silence welcomes me with open arms. I smile as I realise no one was here. It would just be me. Closing the door behind me,I stare at hundreds of shelves.
Time to do magic. Ava giggles at me and I smile.
I lift my hands up and turn them around so my palms are facing the high ceiling. I let my hands drop, and the lights flicker around me, sparking a bookshelf far away. The book flies in the air and straight towards me, floating in front of me.
I smile as I hold the book.
The Story Of The Royal Crystal Pack.
Sitting on the closest table, I open the book and start to read. "They were beautiful, standing there on top of the castle stairs, they smiled at us. Golden lights danced in the air around them as they waved to the crowd in front of them. Chants floated around. 'Long live the Royals.' They were kind to us all, treated us all like equals. Albert always said, 'I may be King but I am your friend first.' The world swooned at their words as they helped every wolf, every vampire, every supernatural with their magic. They did not push you away, all they asked was for peace, for their child to grow up in a world where it would not feel threatened."
I smile as I feel the tears in my eyes.
Are you crying? Ava asks, shocked.
Shut up. I laugh as I wipe my tears and carry on reading.
"Queen Rosaline was beautiful, her dark hair shined in the sun as if the sun itself appeared only when she herself woke up. They held their hands as they walked down the streets of their kingdom, letting everyone see their baby, and bless their child." I flicker through the pages, "Today was different. The sun did not shine as theh appeared in front of their pack of vampires. Their pack was powerful but they were unaware as the kingdom burned and the Queen and King could not stop the flames with their magic. With their last breath, they vowed the castle would never fall and their pack would rise once-" I feel my heart burn as the book falls from my hand.
"Oh," I squeeze my hand against my chest, as it feels like my heart was being ripped apart.
Words float in my mind.
I am sorry
Promise me you won't leave me?
Alec was with Anna.
I'm sorry. Ava whispers to me and I let out a scream as I fall to the floor from the chair. The world was spinning in front of me as I felt the pain of their pleasure.

She deserves so much more. *sigh* I'm such an evil author.
