Chapter 41:
"Glad you decided to show. I was starting to get bored." Nathan's voice slurred as he opened the door to let me inside.
"You didn't give me much of a choice." I shouldered his bare torso out of the way to walk into the room.
Nathan shut the door to the dingy motel room behind me. I stood there frowning with my arms crossed over my chest as I studied the room. It was a horror show. The wallpaper was torn and falling down off the walls. The popcorn ceiling was stained brown in the most random places above the bed. I didn't even want to know what it was from.
The worst part about it all was the smell. It reeked like musk and old spunk.
This place hadn't changed at all over the years. It was still rundown and ten seconds away from being condemned. Even the bedding looked like it was the exact same as it was when sixteen-year-old Jessa used to run away to meet up with nineteen-year-old Nathan for a wild week with no rules.
It was funny how a few years could change your viewpoint so drastically. Back then, I would have been jumping up and down on the bed with excitement, knowing I had Nathan to myself for the night. I used to worship the ground he walked on. I did anything he wanted me to without question.
My stomach began churning as I remembered all the things I used to let him do to me.
"Are you ready to party?" Nathan smirked and brushed up against me from behind.
"I am not here for that." I pushed him back off of me.
I had figured out my plan on the car ride over. I was going to tell him I was done with him trying to blackmail me. I would rather spend all my money to get a good lawyer for Cameron than give this bastard anything else. I had some pull now; I had become somebody. I didn't have to live like this and was done being a pawn in his little game. My relationship with Cameron was falling apart over this and making my condition more unstable the longer this drama went on.
It was time for it to end. I wanted to be better again and couldn't be that person as long as Nathan Webster was in the picture.
I was going to go home after I was done telling Nathan off and explain what was going on to Cameron. He would be furious with me for lying to him but coming clean was the right thing to do. He should know what was going on before the situation got any worse.
Cam and I could face anything Nathan threw our way as long as we had each other.
"I think you are itching to party with me tonight, sweetheart. I think you will give me everything I ask for tonight and then some." Nathan sneered.
"You won't be getting anything from me ever again. I am done with the threats and I am done with you" It felt good to finally say it out loud to him.
"I'll ruin his life. Are you sure you want that to happen?" Nathan's body language began to shift and twist when he realized I wasn't going to just let him have his way.
"You can try, but you will never even come close to ruining Cameron." I rolled my eyes at him and laughed. The weight I had been carrying for weeks had finally started lifting. It felt freeing to be the person on the attack instead of the defenseless naïve girl I used to be. If she could see me know, she would be proud of who I was.
She would scold me for waiting so long to do this, but she would be proud, nevertheless.
"Why do you say that?" Nathan turned his head curiously.
"Because no matter what you do, at the end of the day, he will still have me on his side. Which is way more than you'll ever have." I raised my head high, defiantly challenging him.
"And what if he leaves you after you tell him?" Nathan mocked.
"Even if he doesn't want to be with me after he finds out I have been lying to him, I will stand up for him. I will stand up to you. You will never be able to hurt him." There was a fire growing inside me with every small word that rolled off my tongue. I was really doing this. I was beating Nathan at his own game.
"Sweetheart, I can think of some ways." Nathan took a step closer to me and reached out to grab my hips.
"Stay away from me." I swung out at him and he caught the bottom of my shirt. My hand almost hit the side of his face before he smacked it away. I wriggled and squirmed, pushed and pulled to get him to let me go. I ripped the hem of my shirt from his hands and backed up towards the door to leave.
"Where are you going, Jessa?" Nathan taunted me.
"Home," I growled.
"Don't you want to stay and have a little fun?" Nathan laughed and followed behind me.
I had my hand on the doorknob and started to open it while Nathan stood next to me. His body was motionless, with his dark, red-rimmed eyes locked on mine. When the door opening was almost wide enough for me to slip through, I turned my back to him to leave the room.
That was where I screwed up. You never break eye contact with a predator.
Nathan stole the opportunity to slam the door shut before I could get out. He grabbed me and shoved my face against the freezing metal.
"Nathan, stop. Let me go." I screamed at him as I fought to break out of his grasp.
"Get on your knees, Jessa," Nathan yelled into my ear as he tried to push me down in front of him.
"No." I cried.
I was wrestling against him with everything I had to try to get him to let go of me. Nothing I did worked; he pressed in harder the more I struggled against him.
He grabbed my hair and flung me backwards towards the bed. I landed with a bounce on the mattress and clawed my way off the other side down to the floor to get away.
He walked around the edge of the bed to stand in front of me. He grabbed my shirt and held me in place while he reached for a bag of pills sitting on the nightstand. He dug his knee into my chest to keep me from running while he opened the bag and grabbed a handful out.
"Open your mouth, Jessa." Nathan leaned down and grabbed my chin to force me to look up at him. I clenched my jaw together as tightly as I could.
I shook my head which made him furious. He tried to pry my mouth open with his fingers and I bit down hard, drawing blood the moment he slipped them in.
"Stupid cunt." He bellowed and yanked my head back against the edge of the bed.
I locked my jaw closed again.
He placed both his legs over my shoulders and locked my head in place using his body weight. He was almost sitting completely on my neck. I couldn't move my head if I tried.
I scratched at the back of his legs, digging into his flesh but he still wouldn't let go of me.
"I gave you a chance. Now we will do this my way." Nathan hissed as he pinched the bridge of my nose.
I couldn't breathe.
I held out as long as I could until my body couldn't handle it any longer. My eyes were stinging and my lungs were burning the longer I tried to fight it. My arms fell down at my sides as I lost all the oxygen in my system until my body's fight to survive overruled me. I took in a huge gasp for air through my mouth and he shoved the handful of pills in. He held his hand back over my mouth when I began to try to spit them out. My body started aching as the lights around me faded. I had no choice; it was either die or swallow.
Nathan smiled when he saw my throat move to swallow them down.
"See, that wasn't so hard, was it?" He patted my cheek and climbed off me.
I turned over on all fours on the ground as I wheezed. I was weak and my lungs were still in spasming in shock. My head was cloudy and I felt like I was going to be sick. I started to climb to my feet to leave and collapsed onto the ground. I laid there on the dirty carpet, unable to make my limbs work. My whole body was screaming at me to run.
Nathan walked over and picked me up off the ground. He threw me down onto the bed and then crawled to sit beside me.
"That's much better. Relax, stay awhile." Nathan grabbed the remote and began flipping through the channels. He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and pulled me against him so I couldn't escape.
