Chapter 41
It had been a rather tough two years for everyone. It wasn't the workload which was overwhelming those who were studying, it was the amount of free time which could be used in order to do anything. They had so many things they wanted to do, they weren't sure what to do first.
In the past two years, not a lot has changed. The twins got closer to their fae and they went on many dates. Some of them were on double dates but most of the time they had alone time with their special person. They managed to squeeze these days into their busy schedule which consisted mainly of work and other fae duties.
Since the discovery of Kelso and Tyrell being the guardians of the gateway, they had been given much more responsibility then the average humans. They helped figure out how the fae would be shown human society and they planned the trips which would be taken by the fae into the human dimension. It was a little stressful at times but ultimately it was a rather fun job.
Selltresse and Vandkin were now back to full power, physically. When it came to their standing in the royal court, however, their power remained crumbled to pieces. Vansilla was still in line to be the ruler, but for now the Caileafaq's were still being temporary rulers, until Vansilla felt that she was ready.
Landso had finally got the courage to ask Vansilla out, he was a stuttering mess the entire time and Vansilla had to interrupt the question with guesses of what he meant. In the end they had a wonderful date. Acheron still hasn't stopped teasing the two of them. Landso is counting down the days until Acheron got a date so that he could repay the favour.
These plans had to be put on hold slightly, the twins and their partners were on a holiday from their fae responsibilities. It was once again, exam results season. This one was much, much worse than the last. They had a sleepover the night before. This was so that they could all check the school website together. At approximately 8.AM, they all sat in a circle.
"This is so much worse than last time." Kelso groaned and leaned her head on Laylians shoulder. They had to try and be quiet, Hazel wasn't awake yet. Hazel had been tiring herself out lately, since it was summer the gardens had been blooming and blossoming. It meant a lot of work. "The wait is killing me."
Tyrell chuckled in response to his sister's dramatics. "Hey, at least we get to know earlier?" He tried to come up with some sort of positive aspect as his eyes watched the clock, willing time to move quicker. University was something that they were all anxious about. The fae didn't know if they would get there at all. They had enjoyed their sixth form studies , they assumed that they had done well. They were just waiting for the moment where they would be pulled back into the fae world and their human dreams get crushed.
"Yes, our failure is imminent." Sylvester's failed attempt at humour managed to get some chuckles from the group. He was, once again, the most nervous out of them all. Before he came here, he didn't know how to read and write, even if he was a quick learner, it would've taken him ages to be able to spell everything he needed. That was why he claimed some support from the school. He did this for his GCSE's too, yet the most recent exams were much more stressful. "That's it, i'm logging in."
He grabbed his phone from in front of him and unlocked it. His fingers were like lightning as he typed in his name and password. The others followed, they were slower and less eager. Sylvester wanted to know if he had failed or passed as soon as possible. The uncertainty affecting him much more than the actual fear of not getting in.
His shoulders sagged slightly and he leaned his head back."Serves you right for being eager." Tyrell chuckled from beside him, he had looked over Sylvester's shoulder and saw there were no conclusions yet. "I suppose it's time to refresh the page to death?" Before he had finished the question, Sylvester had started to smash the refresh button. "Don't break the website! We all want our answers."
The girls chuckled as they watched the two boys. They each shook their heads and watched their phones carefully. They were eager to get their results so that they could go down for breakfast. Kelso was extremely nervous, she didn't think that she did too well on the dexams. She had a plan in mind, she didn't know what she could possibly do if she didn't get in. She had it all planned out, she hadn't told Laylian about it yet but she was excited. It all relied on these numbers.
As the clock ticked down the moments until they got their answers, the room fell into a tense silence. They were all hopeful. As the big hand hit the twelve, everyone held their breath. They all refreshed the page at the same time. The blue, pixelated circle causing more and more panic with each spin. It soon vanished, being replaced by a red and white page. They had gotten their results.
There were tears, there were laughs and there were a few gasps of shock. Nobody really had to say whether or not they got what they wanted. They each shared looks of joy and excitement. Laylian was immediately pulled into a hug. Kelso was ecstatic that she got into her course. Sylvester had raised his hands in the air with celebration. He gave a silent scream of happiness. Laylian hugged Kelso back with just as much force and love as Kelso was giving. Tyrell had taken the opportunity to tickle Sylvester. They shared a laugh and then they all came into a group hug.
They had gotten into their university courses. They were all ready for whatever the future would bring at them. "I'm so happy." Laylian said to nobody in particular, the sentence itself managed to widen the smiles which everyone held. Sylvester was going to be studying philosophy, Tyrell was going to university for interior design. Laylian was going to do a business studies and economics course and Kelso was going to be doing a course on real estate. They were all going to be on the same campus, they would be comfortable and happy.
If everything went as planned that is.
