Chapter 24

Chapter 24

The sun hid behind gray clouds as the wind chilled them to the bone, they felt like they shouldn't be there. They probably shouldn't have been there but it was where the answers were. They didn't have much to do other then to follow this lead, no matter how fruitless the adventure ends up being. At least they were doing something instead of sitting around and moping.

"There's no sign of life." Sylvester muttered. "Other than the bugs, then there's thousands of those, even those are hiding." He felt like everything was so far away from him, it was unusual. He liked the company of creatures, he liked to talk to plants and bugs and animals but there was hardly any energy around the place. "If she's here, she's hidden well."

"Yes...yes she was rather good at hiding." Addamak muttered, knowing whatever he said would cause the twins to put together more and more puzzle pieces. He hadn't been listening to their conversations so he was pretty sure at least Laylian was aware of the twin's theory by now.

"From you?"Tyrell asked under his breath with a smirk, causing his twin to giggle and cover her mouth. He had enjoyed teasing Addamak, if he was in any other situation Tyreel knew Addamak would join in on the teasing.

"Shut up." Addamak said with rosy cheeks. They just continued to walk and walk. It was getting late and they were getting hungry, they had come so far and they couldn't give up. They knew that the desire to return to this place would be non-existent if they'd left now.

"Hey uh, why didn't you make one of those tracking things?" Eden started to ask nervously, her lack of knowledge irritating her. "Like the one which uh-you guys used to find Laylian." She was very quiet and it was hard for some to hear her. She wasn't at all confident in what she was saying, not knowing what it takes to make something like that.

"Hmm I can think of a few reasons." Landso muttered as he realized Addamak didn't answer. "Either it would take him too much energy, which probably wouldn't' help us in the middle of nowhere." He glanced around moodily. "Or it means he doesn't know her very well...he's scared that she will have changed so much that it is a waste of energy. It worked for us because we've spent our whole lives with Laylian."

It had started to spit with rain as they continued to walk. Addamak's mood got worse and worse but he didn't want to show that to the younger ones, it was difficult keeping his hopes up that he will find his friend once again. He knew that she wanted to see the human dimension, they had discussed it many times. She was not too thrilled to know that Addamak would be moving there, living in plain sight. That was what caused stress and strain in their relationship. She did not agree with Addamak's idea of keeping hidden.

"Considering there's silence i would assume the second." Kelso said with a frown. "Hey it'll be alright, we'll find her i'ms ure of it." She wasn't so sure she would be alive but int he end they would find her and Addamak would get closure of some sort.

"I just want to know what happened to grams." Devin whispered, tiredness lacing her tone. The two cousins hadn't slept very much recently. They were both too worried to get a peaceful or efficient amount of sleep. Though her words seemed to have more of an effect on the surroundings then she had expected.

It was not long after she had spoken that things started to clear up a little bit. It was like a time lapse happened in front of their eyes. The sky which was once a dark gray became a light blue and the oun seemed to shine more then they'd ever seen it shine.

"We're still on the same street right?" Tyrell asked suspiciously as he looked around. The transition from the gloomy street made him want to pinch himself. It was like going tot the fae dimension all over again, the change was so sudden it made him question what reality was.

"I'm also curious about that." Kelso looked around as things started to look almost normal, almost. The houses were still all boarded up, it was still vacant. Yet it seemed like something from a dream. Nobody was around, yet things looked like they had been taken care of, something which was not the case a few moments ago.

"Demi's tricks i assume." Addamak chuckled. "You never changed a bit." He knew that Demi could hear them now, it would explain why he felt like there were eyes on him which were not the children's. He was the guardian of the group, he had to make sure he knew what was happening at all times, he had to be on guard. "Have you Demi?"

"Shame the same thing couldn't be said about you." A voice appeared from seemingly nowhere yet it was all around them. It was as though they were all wearing headphones with her voice being the only thing which reached their ears. "Though then again you were always an old man at heart, I suppose the flesh now reflects that" The woman had a teasign tone , you could hear the smile which was on her face.

"Of course you'd say that." Addamak said under his breath as he continued to look around. "Are you going to reveal yourself Demitria? Or are we going to be talking to an empty street?" The others didn't really know what to do, other than watch the conversation. It was tense and it felt like their words held more than their semantic meaning.

"Ah yes, you were never good at hide and seek were you?" Demitria gave a chuckle as she walked from building to building, knowing that the group were none the wiser. "I think i'll just let you find me. Make life more interesting for-"

"-she's into that building." Sylvester pointed in Demitria's direction. Everyone gave him strange looks, apart from Tyrell who sent him a smile. "-don't ask who told me." Sylvester had a bit of embarrassment in his cheeks, he didn't want to admit that it was a bug which told him. It was a seemingly annoyed bug who was angry there was someone in his house.

"Alright...fien your friend is fantastic at hide and seek." Demitria almost huffed as she exited the house through the front door, which she seemed to struggle with for a few moments before she flashed a smile and headed over to the group.

Demitria had brown hair which reached her shoulders and blue eyes. She looked young and beautiful. It was hard for the twins to believe that Addamak studied with her, yet after seeing Addafor they would understand how it was possible. She did seem to be a few years younger then Addafor, physically. She wore a light green dress and some flat shoes. She gave a childlike feeling, one which was not too different from Vansilla's.

"What can I do for you? You've came quite far." Demitria said with a smile before her eyes trailed over the group and landed on Eden and Devin. "Devin, Eden what are y-oh" Realization came to her eyes andshe gave a sigh. "You should probably follow me."
