chapter 22
Chapter 22
"So what?" Eden had a somewhat startled look on her face. "Are you saying the fae that grams knew could be alive?" She was a little bit shaky as she asked. She wondered why their grandmother didn't tell them this. She wondered why she kept these things hidden from the two of them despite their knowledge of the fae.
"It's probable." Landso looked over the things in the box, speaking before addamak could respond. "Even for us these designs are very old. They were long before my siblings and I were born" The humans felt a bit uneasy the way that he had spoken. It implied that he was older then he was. The fae's ages were mysteries to most of them. "The fae must have been rather old, I know wisdom does not come with age but this fae was very intelligent" Landso was clearly in awe.
"Yes yes my thoughts exactly" Addamak chuckled with fondness in his tone. "This fae must be about...a little older than I am. Though of course as you know appearances don't often reflect age . look at your parents for example" He found a little too much joy in saying this. The Caileafaq's didn't seem to mind as there were chuckles shared.Even Devin and Eden cracked a smile. "I suppose...we could sit here and figure out what these things are for. Or we can see if we can locate this fae."
The group shared puzzled and questioning glances. It was true that if they found the fae they would then know what information Dawn had. They would be able to see if she held information that Nero would want or would be able to sue against them. The fae would probably be difficult to find, especially if they didn't want to be found. The things that they held might be dangerous. The fae could be working for Nero. There's several reasons why they should do either of the options.
"We're not splitting up." Kelso said before anyone could come up with a conclusion. She was rather determined on the fact. There was nothing good which came from splitting up. Sure they could find more ground but then again. They would not be as safe apart as they were together.
"Agreed." Vansilla said almost immediately after the words came out of Kelso's mouth. She was not fond of the idea either. "We can do both, but we're doing it together." It was strange for the fae to hear fear in Vansilla's voice, she was usually so fearless. The fact that Vansilla was scared was enough to make them scared.
"Of course. I promised that I would take care of you all and I intend to keep the promise" Addamak pointed with a smile, he was still fiddling with the object. "Well you see most fae have some sort of mark on their work, especially if they're the only fae working on it. Since it takes energy to make, it's much more difficult for a fae to make something by themself."
"Ain't' that the truth." Laylian huffed as she thought of her many dauntless hours spent in training. Though the younger ones had received similar, since Laylian was the eldest it was her job to perform the best. At Least that's what she gathered considering the countless hours of trying to create different things. The more futuristic it is the more difficult it was to create. It was harder for them to create unique things, the natural world was far more likely to cooperate with them.
There were mutters of agreement from her brothers and Vansilla. They remembered the times when they would collapse in the middle of studying and were told to continue after they had some food. The Caileafaq's didn't know it but Vansilla had it much worse than they did. She often had to create the food herself, but it was never really enough to give her enough energy to continue, leading to a rather tiresome sycle.
"Hmm perhaps this is something?" Devin asked as she traced her finger over some dots. "Demi?" She furrowed her eyebrows. It seemed like a perfectly regular name to her. She thought that all fae names would be more fantasy esque. The name seemed to ring a bell for Addamak as his eyes widened and he nearly dropped what he was holding.
His actions scared the others in the group before he started to clap and he gave a happy laugh. "Oh I know her!" He had fondness in his tone and he put a smile on his face. "Ah so she got here alright, lovely to know. However I'm a bit confused as to how I did not know this." He stroked his beard in thought. "She didn't have much...potential as a child. She practiced every evening but could not create a single flower. Oh how far she's came!"
The others were just looking at him in confusion, they were a little tired of being confused by what Addamak said, "so could you find her?" Acheron tried to bring the man back down to earth, knowing that the lady existed was good, so Addamak could probably recognise her. He was a little worried about the fact Addamak knew she practiced each night but it was none of his business.
"Oh I can find her alright, rather easily." Addamak nodded. It seemed to cause a moment of celebration between the group, things were starting to look up. "I'm not so sure she'd be happy to see me.,,but I can find her." He chuckled weakly.
"okay...I'll bite." Tyrell said as he rubbed his eye. "Why wouldn't she be happy to see you?" Addamak seemed to stutter at the question, he wasn't expecting anyone to actually ask. He had hinted that he wanted them to ask but he never considered Tyrell asking him. He knew the fae would probably ignore it, even if they were curious.
"Ah well I used to tutor her" He said slowly, he tried to find the right words. He would have said that he was her teacher but then that would probably confuse the twins, "We-uh,,,well to put it short i wanted to have a thing and she didn't want to have a thing and it all became awkward between us." There was a synchronised sound of understanding scattered throughout the group. "So yes, we left on good terms. I hope."
