Chapter 20

Chapter 20

As soon as they arrived at Dawn's home the two cousins had jumped out of the car and speed-walked inside. This caused the twins and their partners to follow quickly. Devin and Eden were eager to see if anything had changed since they were last there not too long ago. They both held naive hope that their grandmother would be in the living room awaiting their return. Even though it was irrational they had still felt some sadness when they realized that wasn't the case.

"Alright then." Devin said sadly as she looked around the living room. It was a rather crowded room, there were so many trinkets and ornaments placed around it looked like it could be a shop. "Eden and I will check upstairs for anything, you guys could perhaps stay down here? I'm sure there'll be something in all this." She gestured to the piles of things which scattered around the room.

"Sounds like a good idea." Kelso nodded. The downstairs area of the house only had two rooms. They were rather small and crowded. There was a kitchen adn a living room. It was not unlike Hazel's house, but this one was much , much fuller. She then turned to the boys. "Can you two check out the kitchen? We'll have a look in here, though i'm sure you'll be done before us" Sylvester nodded and headed that way whilst Tyrell gave his twin a thankful smile.

The fae who had decided that they didn't need to look through the house were keeping watch out of the windows. They were trying to focus on any sources of negative energies, watching out for the dark fae. However it proved rather difficult. The negative energy which radiated front he surrounding homes was more then enough to distract them. There was now so much negative energy in the human dimension it would be difficult to spot your average dark fae. It would not make any difference for Nero, someone whose presence could probably be spotted from a few miles away. Now that they had time to practice.

The kitchen was similar to the living room, crowded and full. The boys looked at each other slightly overwhelmed before sharing a smile and getting to work, they looked for cookbooks or spots where one would be able to hide things. "So...i know we had the talk the other day, but i can tell things are still bothering you." Tyrell muttered as he looked through a cupboard by the sink.

"It's nothing." Sylvester said way too quickly before he sighed and gave Tyrell a smile. "I'm not surprised that you've picked up on it. But really it's fine...It's nothing i haven't dealt with all my life." Sylvester couldn't exactly put a finger on the reason he was feeling down, there were quite a few of them.

"You dealt with them alone because you were alone." Tyrell's words were somewhat like a dagger to Sylvester. He had to admit that Tyrell Was right. That was exactly it. Sylvester had been alone the majority of his life and he dealt with his issues by himself. "But you're not alone now, and you won't be alone again. I just want to help you. We ...we should talk about things which bother you and try to work through them. That's part ...that should be a part of our relationship."

Sylvester was silent as he took things out of the cupboard and looked at them. Sometimes knocking on the back of the cupboard to make sure there were no false panels. He didn't know what to say really. He had never had a relationship such as this one. He had never been in a romantic relationship. "I dropped my book into the river." He had said simply without turning to look.

Tyrell had expected this, He knew that Sylvester valued everything that he was given or that he owned. He knew that he grew emotional attachments to everything. Sylvester had spent so much time with nothing that he valued everything that he had. The book meant much more to Sylvester than anything else that he owned, he valued his book and his cloak as they were what he brought to the human dimension. The only thing which he valued more than those objects were his friends. He valued the relationships which he'd made in the human dimension.

"Thank you for telling me." Tyrell said softly as he turned around to face Sylvester, having finished looking through the cupboard which was in front of him. "That was a brave and heartfelt sacrifice." Tyrell had wrapped his arms around Sylvester's torso and looked into the cupboard Sylvester was in front of. "I don't think we're going to find anything in here."

Sylvester had a small smile on his face but he sighed and started to put things away. "I hope that they find something upstairs or in the living room. I don't like feeling like a sitting goose." Tyrell burst into laughter as soon as Sylvester had finished his sentence. Sylvester gave him an unimpressed look. "Hey I'm not used to your human sayings!"he said defensively as he raised his hands.

"Sitting duck my love. Sitting duck." Tyrell was still giggling as Sylvester huffed. They weren't too different. It didn't' take them long to be finished with the cupboards. They doubted that anything would be in the fridge or freezer so they were practically finished. The two of them exited the kitchen and stood in the doorway to the living room.

It was a gigantic and chaotic mess. If Hazel or Dawn were there then there was a chance that one of them would have fainted and the other would have scolded them due to the mess. The boys were speechless as they took a few moments to observe the room.

"Organized mess?" Tyrell asked his twin as she sat on the floor and looked through the boxes which made up the entire wall. She flashed him a knowing smile. She knew exactly where everything was and had worked with Laylian so that she also knew. Sometimes Laylian had to keep Kelso on track with her own method.

"You know me so well." Kelso cheered as she looked through the box. "Potentially helpful stuff" she pointed to one pile which was rather small. "Things which probably aren't helpful." She pointed towards a very big pile "and things which are definitely helpful." she pointed to the settee which had nothing on it. "It's a very small pile."

There was suddenly a thud upstairs, there were a lot of footsteps and down came the two cousins. "We think we found something!" They grinned as Devin opened the door and gestured for those in the car to enter. "A load of stuff."
