Chapter 4
(a/n): Quick reminder, since there's not a whole lot we know about Corellia, I'm gonna make up what I think their government system was like during this specific point in time
Anakin POV: (Bet you weren't expecting that😉)
I flew (y/n) and I all the way through hyperspace, until we reached the outskirts of Corellia. She gazed out of the window at the planet in pure awe and wonder. Eventually the stars faded in the distance, and we were met with the sight of tall buildings and colorful lights that lit up the now dark sky. I looked around as I flew us down in Coronet City, taking in the sight of it all. Next to me, (y/n) got more and more excited as we flew closer to the city.
"Woah.... I don't think I've ever been to this planet before. It reminds me of Coruscant."
I chuckled at her fascination, it was quite adorable.
Wait what? No. I can't think about her like that. I have to stay focused on the mission.
I took a deep breath and tried to clear my mind. (y/n) sensed my uneasiness through our force connection and turned to look at me, her long braid lightly whipping and falling over her shoulder.
"You alright, Ani?" Her (e/c) eyes comforted and made me uneasy at the same time.
I quickly put walls up in my mind, blocking her out from it. "Yeah, I'm just worried about what to expect when we find out who's behind this invasion on the city."
That wasn't the best lie to choose from, since (y/n) knows that I rarely am afraid on missions, and always says that I'm too confident in myself. She stared at me for a few seconds, probably to see if I was being completely honest, but eventually nodded when she didn't find anything. I didn't like not telling her the full truth, but it was better this way. We had to move on from what happened the other night.
Finally landing the ship in an empty field just outside of Coronet City, I turned off the ships engine and unbuckled my seat belt. (y/n) did the same and we both walked to open the ramp, then exited the ship and felt the cool Corellia air on our skin.
The field we landed on was layered with trees that stretched out for miles; it's rustic vibe completely contradicting the civic vibe of Coronet City. How did the people here manage to keep this place in such good shape? Many other planets have become devastated from the ongoing war, but Corellia seems to be doing just fine.
Or at least they were, until the recent invasion. I sighed and opened up my mind to the force, hoping for some sort of guidance on what to do about finding the invaders and gathering information. Obi-Wan said we needed to take precautions, and as much as I hated to admit it, I believe he's right. This is one of those missions where we are left guessing what the Separatists, most likely the Sith, are up to.
After reaching out to the force, I was sure that my suspicions were true. There was a disturbance in the force on this planet, which is likely because of the dark side.
I turned to (y/n), who was looking around at the city that stood before us, it's size intimidating compared to us. But she looked astonished at the width and height of the city. Then she turned to look at all the trees behind us, taking in the sight of each one.
"I've never seen a field this big before, and one that's right next to a city like this. It's so cool."
I smiled at (y/n)'s love for simple things like this. She always knows how to find the good in not so good situations. I continued to stare at her as she looked around with an awestruck smile on her face. Her smile was one of my favorite things about her.
Realizing I was staring at her like a creep, I quickly turned around and started walking towards the city.
"Yeah, it is," I replied. "Are you ready to search the city?"
She turned to me with a determined smile, "You know it. We'll find these invaders and get information out of them in no time."
I nodded and we proceeded to walk side by side into the large metropolis known as Coronet City. The hustle and bustle of the crowds were all too familiar, but it would make it more difficult to identify possible spies or assassins.
"Anakin, look at this." (y/n) grabbed my arm and pointed towards what looked like a hotel. I eyed her in confusion, "What about it?"
She took off her backpack and pulled her robe out, putting it on to blend in with the people here. "It's a hotel, and probably the only one in the city. So the manager might know something about the invasion." She said, like it was the most obvious thing ever.
I shrugged and put on my robe as well, "Let's go check it out."
We quickened our pace upon entering the hotel, and both of us immediately stopped to look around.
(Imagine this is how the lobby looks.)
"Wow... this place is gorgeous." (y/n) said, in disbelief. I nodded my head in agreement, admiring how clean and lively it was. After I was done looking around, I spotted someone who looked like a worker who was standing next to one of the pillars, holding a clipboard. I calmly walked over, not wanting to seem intimidating.
"Excuse me, sir. Do you work here?" I asked.
The man looked up and gave me a friendly, yet tired smile. He had pale skin and dark brown hair, his eyes were green but they looked dull and empty. I also noticed that his uniform was wrinkled and unkempt. "I sure do. I'm the manager, in fact."
My eyes widened in surprise. We were so lucky to have come in at this time. I smiled back and nodded my head respectfully.
"Do you know anything about a Separatist invasion in this city?" I pointed with my thumb back at (y/n), "My friend and I are Jedi, and we're here to try and help with that."
Hi eyes widened, and he looked around, as if to make sure no one was watching, and then pulled my arm, "Come with me. We can't talk about this in public."
Proceeding to walk with him, I turned my head back to (y/n) and nodded my head to the side, indicating that she should come. She ran up to my side and we both entered what looked like a small office.
The manager sat in a spinning chair behind a desk, and ran his fingers through his hair, sighing. (y/n) and I watched him with our arms crossed, waiting to hear what he had to say.
"We've been expecting you two," He started, "and it's a good thing you've come. I'm not too familiar with what's happening, but I do know that a man who calls himself 'Count Dooku' has come with hundreds of robots, and is holding our Head of State hostage at the Fawley Power Station. I'm not sure why, but he told us that he wanted an audience with you two, to discuss negotiations." The manager lightly trembled with fear, looking up at us for some sort of reassurance.
(y/n) turned her head to look at me, "Well, it looks like we know who's behind this invasion. The question now is: why?"
I nodded and stroked my chin in thought. We would have to make sure that no harm comes to the Head of State, even though Count Dooku's 'negotiations' were probably going to be complete bogus.
"Alright. We will be there tomorrow, and hopefully the outcome will be good for the people of Coronet City." I said to the manager. He nodded and took a deep breath, before standing up and grabbing some keys that hung on a key rack.
"Listen, it's late and you two have probably had a long and tiring day. You must save your energy to be fully prepared for whatever happens tomorrow." He handed out the key and (y/n) took it, and eyed it curiously.
"What is this?"
The manager pointed at a tag that was attached to the key, "It's a key to one of my best hotel suites. The room number is on that tag, and it's on the third floor."
I looked to (y/n) for affirmation, if she wanted to stay here for the night. She smiled and nodded, then turned her head back to the manager. "Thank you so much, we appreciate your kindness and helpfulness. And we promise to do everything in our power to keep you all safe."
The manager smiled back and rubbed his palms together nervously, "I hope so, my friends. Please take care of yourselves while you're here." He walked around us to open the door, and we saw ourselves out to find the room.
We walked to the elevator in the lobby, and rode it up to the third floor. (y/n) pulled out the key from her pocket and opened up the door, revealing a very modern picturesque suite.
(Imagine this is what your room looks like)
(y/n) laughed in amazement, and ran further into the room to get a better look at everything. "This place is amazing!" She put her bag down on one of the chairs and looked out the window, then back to me.
"Anakin, this is so—" she stopped mid-sentence and stared at the large bed, which there was only one of. "Uh, there's only one bed." Her gaze shifted from it to me, uncomfortably.
I nodded and looked at the couch behind her, "I could sleep on the couch. It's not big deal."
She immediately shook her head, "No way, I wouldn't let you do that."
I smirked and crossed my arms, deciding to tease (y/n), "Alright, so do you suggest we share it?"
She blushed and fiddled with her robe, looking away, "No—I-I mean, we don't have to if you don't want to."
I shrugged and sat on the bed to take off my boots. "I really don't care, as long as we're both energized for tomorrow."
"O-Okay. I'm gonna use the washroom." She quickly walked to the washroom door, then closed it. I chuckled at how adorably flustered she became. She really was the cutest thing, without having to try. I mentally scolded myself for thinking like that, again. But then I realized, there's no harm in thinking that, right? And there's no harm in playfully teasing her, either.
Even though I said that we should carry on as friends, that's not really what I wanted. To be honest, I don't know what I want at this point. I had to be the best Jedi that I could, and not let my emotions put others in jeopardy and potentially ruin both of our lives in the Order. But thinking about her beautiful (h/c) hair, her comforting (e/c) eyes, and her goofy laugh, I felt my heart warming and my core burning with desire.
Why am I feeling this way? It's all unfamiliar to me.
I sighed and took off my robe and shirt, putting them into my bag that I placed on the couch.
I heard the washroom door open, and then footsteps re-entering the room. Turning around, I watched as (y/n) looked at my exposed chest with wide eyes, not taking them off of it. She changed into her nighttime clothes, which was just loose black shorts and a grey tank top. I smirked and decided to tease her again.
"Like what you see?" I walked up to her and stood at a point where our bodies almost touched, and she had to lean back to look up at me. One movement, and we would collide.
Her cheeks flushed at our close proximity and she laughed nervously, rubbing both of her arms and ripping her eyes away to look down at the floor. "Uh it's getting late. We should sleep now."
She walked around me quickly and then hopped into the bed, pulling the covers over herself. "Goodnight, Ani." She mumbled sleepily. I turned off all of our lights and climbed in as well, peering to look out of our window which displayed the beautiful lights and buildings of the city. I leaned over her and put my lips next to her ear. I softly kissed her earlobe and watched her body twitch from my touch. I whispered back, "Good night."
As I slept that night, I desperately tried to think of something, anything to dream about as a distraction from the woman beside me. But she was the only thing in my mind the entire night.
(a/n) Chapter 4 done!
