Chapter 1
Before we get this party started, I wanna say that this story is purely for fun and not everything will be accurate in terms of the Star Wars Universe.
Edit from future me: And for those of you who decide to read this, I feel like I should say that this is my first story, so don't expect perfection haha. But I promise it gets better as it goes on :) Enjoy!
(y/n) POV:
"Anakin watch out!" I yelled while fighting off battle droids that were shooting at me with their blasters.
Just in time, Anakin heard my warning and dodged a dangerous blow from General Grievous's lightsabers. They both repeatedly swung at and dodged each other, unable to gain the upper hand over the other. Anakin ran in a taunting circle, probably trying to tire Grievous out, though it didn't really work.
The senate building in Coruscant was under attack by Grievous and his battle droids, who were attempting to assassinate the Chancellor. The Jedi were luckily able to save him from any incoming attacks, but now we had to make sure it stayed that way and eliminate the rest of the threats.
After finishing off the last of the battle droids with my lightsaber, I ran over to join Anakin. When I came into view, he glared at me while backing away from Grievous.
"(y/n) what took you so long?"
I ran to his side and got in a fighting stance. "Hey, I was fighting the battle droids!" I said defensively.
"Well you sure took your sweet time with that." He said the last part through gritted teeth, because Grievous swung both his lightsabers at us which we blocked with ours.
"Jedi scum! I will destroy all of you!" He swung at us again, only this time he slashed my left leg which caused me to cry out in pain and fall backwards, hitting the back of my head in the process. All of the wind was knocked out of me and I inhaled, desperately trying to regain all the air I lost. I lifted my head and saw Grievous walking menacingly towards me, ready to finish what he started. I panted and desperately looked around for Anakin, but I couldn't see him anywhere. I winced at my now bleeding leg and looked up, frozen in fear. Just as Grievous was getting ready to strike me again, I saw a blue lightsaber go straight through his side.
I gasped and watched with wide eyes as he fell to the side while groaning in pain, and revealing Anakin standing behind him, lightsaber in hand. His eyes full of pure rage as he stared down at the cyborg. I could feel myself start to tremble; the fact that I was practically a second away from death really frightened me.
"(y/n) are you okay? (y/n)!" Anakin kneeled beside me and gently shook my shoulders to get my attention. I looked at his concerned gaze on me, my vision was blurry and my ears were ringing. I felt dazed and fatigued at the same time, and my head was pounding from the great impact so all I could do was slightly nod at him.
He sighed and helped me to stand by pulling my right arm over his shoulder and putting his left arm around my waist, and then started to guide me to the medical ship.
"I can still walk, you know." I said, though I was secretly grateful to have the support even though I wouldn't admit it. But Anakin saw through my attempts to seem tough and smirked at me.
"Yeah, and I can breathe underwater." He jested. I rolled my eyes at his sarcasm but didn't try to argue any further.
I looked to my left, and through my blurry vision saw Grievous being carried by clone troopers into one of the ships, likely being taken back to the Coruscant prison. I heard Anakin growl beside me while protectively tightening his fingers around my side, causing me to blush at the sudden extra pressure he applied there.
We got to the medical ship and Anakin helped me to lay on one of the beds. The feeling of the soft pillow and cold sheets made me even more tired, and I felt sleep starting to pull me in.
"What's happened to her?" I heard the voice of Obi-Wan ask. I watched as he entered the medical ship, covered in dirt and scratches from fighting the battle droids that were in tri-fighters.
Anakin looked at me and then to Obi-Wan, "She was stabbed in the leg by one of Grievous's lightsabers." He said with venom laced in his words.
Obi-Wan nodded thoughtfully and gave me a sympathetic smile before turning to leave the medical ship. One of the medical droids came to inspect my leg and Anakin eyed us carefully the whole time, as if expecting the droid to accidentally hurt me. Half-heartedly, I internally rolled my eyes at his obvious pressure on the droid to not screw anything up.
Once the inspection was done, Anakin followed the droid to the other side of the ship. "Make sure her leg gets fixed and healed." He commanded.
The droid nodded and went to get surgical tools and medicine. Anakin walked back to my bed and looked down at me, his blue eyes and his blonde curls enhancing his protective aura. "I'll be there when you wake up."
I smiled at him with what physical strength I had left, and then drifted into a welcoming world of sleep.
Time skip~
I woke up and found myself in the medical bay back at the Jedi temple. I slowly sat up and looked out the window. The bright stars and black sky indicated that it was nighttime. I slept for at least 7 hours.
Then I remembered my leg, and pulled the covers off of it. It was wrapped up in a big cast, and I made a mental note that I was definitely going to be using crutches.
"Oh—ow!" I winced as I tried moving my leg up and down. The cast made it heavier which caused lifting it to be more painful. I sighed as I thought about how rough these next couple of days were going to be. The Jedi council is going to make me stay home from missions, so I'll probably be bored out of my mind.
I sighed and rubbed the back of my head. It was a bit sore from where I hit it earlier but the throbbing pain was gone. Remembering how I was almost killed, I silently thanked the force that I was alright and didn't have any fatal injuries.
I snapped out of my thoughts as I heard footsteps entering the room I was in. I looked up and saw Anakin approaching me with a smile. I smiled back as he sat on the edge of my bed.
Knowing him, he's probably going to make some remark about how he saved the day.
"I see you're doing just fine, thanks to me." He said smugly.
Annnnd there it is.
I playfully rolled my eyes, "Oh please, I totally had it under control. And besides, your ego doesn't need to get any bigger."
He feigned a shocked expression put his hand to his chest, "Me? A big ego? Never." I tried to fake an annoyed expression but ended up laughing, and he did too. When we finished laughing, he looked up at me with a small smile tugging at his lips. I returned the same expression, feeling happy that he kept his promise to be there when I woke up.
Then one of the nurses came in with some papers in her hands.
"Good news (y/n), you're clear to leave tonight. But take it easy these next few days, and your leg should heal just fine. And I left some crutches for you under your bed." I nodded and thanked her, and gave me a warm smile before leaving the room.
At least I'll be able to sleep in my own room tonight.
I reached under the bed and grabbed my crutches, slowly pushing my legs off the side of the bed. As I started walking, Anakin started to walk beside me and we made our way out of the medical bay.
"By the way, are you hungry (y/n)? I don't think you've eaten all day." He said. I thought about it and realized he was right; I hadn't eaten today besides some crackers and water. The thought of food made my stomach growl, and I started to speed up my pace while trying to not trip over my crutches.
"Sure, I'm starving." We both entered the cafeteria and greeted some of the clones that were making their way back to their quarters. Anakin grabbed some food for me as I sat down at one of the tables. Then I saw a few bottles of whiskey sitting there, that one of the clones most likely left behind on accident. I refrained from taking some at first, but then I thought about the long day I had and figured I might as well enjoy myself.
"Ah why not." I opened one of the bottles and took a few drinks. The sour taste made me wince but I kept drinking nonetheless.
Anakin brought me my food and we ate and talked together for who knows how long. We conversed of many things like the war, the republic, the separatists, and our lives in general as Jedi. I felt so lucky to have him as my friend during these times. My affection for him grew and grew each day.
"Are you sure you should be drinking that much?" He half-joked and pointed at the bottle I was holding. I was on my third bottle and began to feel myself becoming more drunk than I had planned. I looked at him innocently and titled my head to the side, "Are you the alcohol police?"
"Ha ha very funny." He took a crumpled napkin and threw it at me. I giggled and threw it back at him. He chuckled and put it on my tray and then took it to be emptied in the trash. I looked at the bottle in my hand. A few more sips wouldn't hurt.
I gulped down the remaining alcohol and placed the bottle back on the table. My head started to spin from the large consumption of whiskey and now all I wanted to do was get back to my room. Anakin must have noticed my discomfort through our force bond because he came to my side and helped me to stand with my crutches. "My head is pounding..." I muttered.
His hand brushed against the small of my back and rested there, then guided me out of the cafeteria. "Let's get you back to your quarters." He murmured in my ear, his breath sending shivers down my neck. I nodded absentmindedly, thinking back to all the times he helped me today. A sudden wave of emotion washed over me as I thought about how I couldn't have gotten around, or even survived today without him. Anakin has always been there for me when I needed him and I felt so much gratitude for him.
We made it to my room and Anakin held my arm while I slowly sat down on my bed. The room was dark, and a bit messy from my clothes and accessories that were spread all over the floor. The only source of light was a cheap lamp on my bedside table, just barely illuminating our body shapes.
"Ani—*hiccup* thank you...for always being there to help me when I need it." I looked down at my hands that were folded in my lap, "You're such a good friend to me and I don't deserve you. I've barely done anything for you but you've done so much for me and I don't deserve any of it." I rambled and started to cry at this point.
Why am I so emotional now? I told myself that it must be because of how drunk I was and the stressful day it's been. But I also knew that my emotions came from the affection I had for my friend who stood before me.
He kneeled and grabbed my chin between his thumb and index finger, and lifted my head to look at him. He wiped my tears away with his other hand, and then brought his head close to mine and looked down at me; eyes full of concern, anger, and something else I didn't recognize.
"Don't you dare think like that, (y/n). Ever."
My breath hitched in my throat as I looked up at Anakin. I wanted to nod or say something back, but I was frozen in place. I felt so small and vulnerable under his gaze. I normally hated that feeling, but right now it didn't feel so bad.
Neither of us moved or said anything. Our faces were still close together, and he was still holding my chin. I was confused, and didn't know what was real or not anymore because of my dizziness and the urge to throw up all the alcohol I consumed. But all I thought about was Anakin; my best friend who was so close to me and is treating me with kindness and gentleness that I had never experienced from another Jedi. My heart started pounding and my breath started shaking, and I felt as if my whole body would implode if I sat still for a second longer.
Why was I feeling so weird? This is my best friend, for crying out loud. The effects of the alcohol made my mind all woozy and disoriented, and I craved physical contact. I didn't care who it was from, I just needed something to satisfy the urge that kept pulling me forward.
I was definitely going to regret this.
