~Time skip~

No one POV-
"All cats old enough to catch they're own prey, gather beneath High Ledge." Redstar announced. (XD I forgot what it actually is, so for this story it's High Ledge. Would be High Rock, but this is the lake, not the forest) Thunderclan gathered beneath High Ledge and Redstar. He continued,"Adderkit, come forward. You have reached the age of six mins and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Adderpaw. Your mentor will be Brightwing." Brightwing and Adderpaw touched noses and the gatheredclan chanted Adderpaw's name. "Moonkit, come forward. You have also reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Moonpaw. After much consideration, your mentor will be Bumbletail." Moonpaw and Bumbletail touched noses and the clan chanted Moonpaw's name.

Moonpaw POV-

'No!' My minds screamed when I realized I was to become a medicine cat. 'But... it is for the best of my clan.' I kept my head up and smiled, feeling and aching, gnawing, emptiness in the fact that I would not be crowded at night, there would be no other apprentices around me when I slept. I would be alone,and worse yet, even if I somehow found love, I could not act upon it. I padded quickly to the medicine cat den and cried myself to sleep.

~time skip- a quarter moon later~

I woke up and went to check the herb storage, I noticed we were low on coltsfoot. "Bumbletail, I'm gonna go looking for some coltsfoot and whatever else I can find!" I called, walking out of the den. "Great, bring back everything you find, leaffall'll be starting soon!"

After gathering some coltsfoot, I managed to find some catmint near the training grounds. (Don't ask how) As I picked the stems carefully, I noticed some of the apprentices training with their mentors. I saw Badgerfoot, Gingerpaw, Foxtail, Jabberpaw, Brightwing, and last but definitely not least, Adderpaw. I don't know why, but everything seems brighter and more cheerful when he's around. My eyes rested on him for a few seconds, and he turned around and looked right back at me. I felt my heart flutter and we seemed to communicate...

Adderpaw POV-

I won the mock-fight with my mentor Brightwing, and I sat down to watch the others for a bit. I suddenly felt someone's gaze on my back. I turned, and our eyes met. It was Moonpaw, and I couldn't look away. We seemed to communicate, through that glance, a time and place. 'Here, midnight tonight.' No explanation or thinking before acting, just mutual agreement and a sudden connection. We turned away, but I smiled just thinking about her.

"Adderpaw, whatcha smilin' about?" said Jabberpaw, coming up next to me. "Oh, nothing." Came my distracted reply. "I totally believe that." He rolled his eyes, but dropped the topic. Now just to wait for midnight to come around...
