Ordeal 3 - Roar

A force picked me up from the snowy clutches and tied a black blindfold over my eyes.

"What's going on?" I asked as a brute force knocked me out and everything faded around me.

I woke up to some smelling salts.

"Yuck! What are those!" I coughed, a man's voice laughed in front of me.

"Good you're awake. You're quite something." They laughed, I rolled my eyes under the blindfold that they still hadn't taken off of me.

"What's this about? I got a life you know." I retorted.

"I need you to do something's for me, and maybe I'll give you a reward for it if you do." I could hear the slight tapping of fingertips against fingertips sound.

"What do I gotta do?" I asked, wanting to get the blindfold off of me as fast as possible.

"First you have to jump into the depths of Hell." He laughed with a slight enjoyment in his tone.

"What?" Before I could finish my thought, the same force from before grabbed me and I was carried somewhere.

***

They tore off the blindfold and I almost fell into the hole.

"Holy moly! That thing is deep!" I gasped before I looked myself over, I looked as though I were trying to cosplay Batman and failing terribly. "You want me to jump down there?"

"Yes." The one that carried me here nodded stiffly. "Have a nice fall."

"I thought it was ju-" suddenly they thrusted their palm forward and pushed me over the edge.

I fell into the hole and tried to flip over and spread out as though I were a floating starfish.

The rush of wind passing by me made the hairs of my arms stand on end. I shivered at the cold as my eyes were frozen onto the pitch black hole below that seemed to be never ending.

A loud noise suddenly bellowed beneath me as the ground and bushes began to shake. I swallowed hard, fear filling me as it roared again.

I'm too young to die.

I was too fearful to pull my shoot, free falling into the hole towards the unknown roar.

I shut my eyes tightly and began to focus on my breathing. I held my hands out and stretched the fingertips as far out as they went.

Another roar erupted as a booming second noise could be heard.

I'm probably going to die now. I thought to myself as a shiver went through me, I could feel something approaching me, even with my eyes closed.

A rush of wind pushed me to the side as I heard the feint flapping of wings. Rough scales brushed past my outstretched fingertips, which caused my eyes to jolt open. A large scaled, winged creature flew up from the cave past me. I furiously blinked, as I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a dragon. A real life dragon.

I wanted to scream, yet nothing came out. I reached for my shoot, but I couldn't find the string. My heart began to pound loudly. I was falling to my death and there was some magical creature above me.

I must've been drugged. It's the only explanation for all of this.

I looked down at my suit before I finally found the pull string. I tugged hard on it before my parachute pulled open and I then began to drift slowly down.

The depths were still dark, too dark to even see the bottom still. I looked up, the opening was only a small pin hole of light. It seemed as though the dragon had vanished. I looked down again as the darkness began to engulf the light.

Another rush of wind brushed past me as I noticed a much smaller dragon circled me. It had dark brown and red tinged scales, it had golden eyes and a cream coloured belly. I could only assume that it was the child of the large dragon I had seen before hand.

It looked down and blew a beam of light towards the darkness, to my surprise, the darkness began to crackle and sizzle. As though I had been falling into a never ending time loop that had now broken, I noticed the ground slowly creeping up on me.

Finally, my fall was finally coming to an end. I looked up to thank the little dragon, but like the larger one before it, it had vanished. As though all this was some kind of illusion.

I landed swiftly and took off the parachute so that I could maneuver much more easily.

"Well done." The man's voice echoed in the cave which caused me to turn to face him. He clapped his hands, the sound bouncing off the the caves walls creating a booming echo. "Only five more to go."

Oh fun.
