Kayla's POV:
In the end, Aaron and I spent the most of yesterday under the tree talking and sometimes, just sitting in comfortable silence. However, he really wanted to go out for a date which is why I am here today on a Sunday afternoon, right outside his house.
Since this is our first official date as a real couple, I put a lot of thought into my outfit. At first, I wanted to go in a formal outfit, but I felt like that would make me seem more like Alicia or his mom, and he has already made it clear that he likes me for me.
Instead, I went with white ripped jeans and a white short sleeved crop top that shows off my tattoos. My hair is down and I'm devoid of any jewelry except my mom's ring which I always wear.
Anxiously, I ring the doorbell and wait. Aaron assured me that his parents aren't around, but when I hear heavy footsteps getting louder behind the door, I flinch a bit, envisioning Aaron's prim and proper mother dressed in her pearls and ready to yell at me.
But the person who opens the door isn't Aaron's mother not his father. He is tall with brown eyes and dark hair just like Aaron. In fact, he looks almost exactly like Aaron, except he is older and very serious looking.
"You must be Kayla", he says, and I nod.
"I'm Caleb", he says. "Aaron's older brother."
I nod again. Aaron has told me about his brother, but I didn't make the connection.
"I'm Kayla", I say and then I palm my forehead. He already knows who I am. Why did I repeat it?
The boy looks at me, and his serious face softens into a smile. "You don't need to be scared of me, Kayla. I've seen how happy Aaron is when he is with you and I support your relationship a hundred percent."
While I am staggering over my surprise and anxiously twisting my mother's ring, Aaron shows up at the door. He is dressed in a white tshirt and a black jacket with black jeans, and his gorgeous brown hair is combed neatly. He smells vaguely of vanilla body wash, and his brown eyes stare at me like I am the most gorgeous girl on earth.
I have to take in a deep breath as I remember how to breath.
"Hi Kay", he says shyly, and I find out that I feel shy too. How? We've gone out before, and we even talked yesterday, but now I can't seem to string two sentences together.
"Hi Aaron"
"Are both of you just going to say hi, or are you going to go on your date?", Caleb asks from behind Aaron a she gives him a little push out of the house. "Go on and enjoy yourself – not too much, and don't let Aaron have too much alcohol", he says this to me, and I give a smile.
"Let's go", I say, gesturing towards my car.

"Okay, I am a hundred percent certain that you are cheating", I say as I jolt Aaron's hand, trying to male him drop the ball.
It's so funny how quickly our nervousness disappeared the moment we were alone with each other. We put on music and drove straight to the arcade to check out a few games, which is what we are playing now.
We're playing skee ball – that game where you have to throw a ball into the hole with the highest points, and so far, Aaron has made all of his balls land in the 500-point hole which is the hole with the highest number, while I have only managed to occasionally get mine into the 50-point hole. Sometimes I don't even get the ball into any hole.
"I don't think you can cheat in skee ball unless you're holding someone's arm", Aaron laughs as he tries to shake me off.
Yes, call me a sore loser, but it isn't fair that Aaron is just naturally good at all the games here.
Finally, the game ends and announces Aaron as the winner – for the third time in a row.
I huff dramatically as he does a victory cheer, but eventually, I have to laugh.
"One more game and we go and get some ice-cream", he says. "Your call. Which game would you like to play"
I give a wicked smile. "Dance machines", I say confidently. Dancing is one thing I am certain I can do well. I've learnt from Steph who is practically the best dancer there is.
Aaron gives me a grin which is both adorable and sexy – seriously, how did I never fall for this guy before.
"Race you there", he says, and before I have time to process the meaning of his statement, he takes off running.
"AARON", I yell as I run after him, but he is fast, and by the time I catch up to him at the dance machine, I am panting.
"Well... I guess you can run now", I pant as I see him leaning against the dance machine.
"I mean, I am better at running short distance", he shrugs. Then he offers me a hand. "May I have this dance milady".
Smiling, I allow him to take my hand and lead me up to a dance machine before he goes to the other one.
He puts a quarter into the machine and gets on as well.
"READY, SET, DANCE"
And the music starts.
Instantly I begin to dance, my feet covering all the right boxes and my hips swaying in turn to the beat. My dancing is cool and beautiful to watch, and I see my points climbing up in the game.
I turn over to look at Aaron and... I stop moving.
Aaron is flawless. His dance moves are exquisite, and he is a picture of grace as his feet lightly skim the boxes. His legwork is undeniably amazing.
He catches me looking and smirks, and I remember to pick my jaw from the floor and face my game. Aaron's dance moves may be good, but I have to bring in my A game. I pull out a few part dance moves, but a glance at Aaron and I see him break dancing.
Break dancing.
I continue to dance, but I know at this point that it is futile. And the game confirms that after a few minutes.
"PLAYER TWO WINS"
I get off the dance game and sit on the floor in a huff of exhaustion.
"Are you angry?", Aaron asks as he hovers over me.
I don't answer. Obviously, I am not angry, but I am totally exhausted, so I offer a grunt in response.
Aaron is silent for a moment or two, but then he bends down and scoops me up in his arms, carrying me bridal style.
"Aaron, what are you doing?", I half scream, half laugh.
"Carrying you to get some ice-cream", he says simply.
And he does. He carries me all the way to the ice-cream stalls, and we get a few stares along the way, but I'm not sure Aaron cares.
Gently, he sets me down on a stool and goes off to the ice0cream stall, and a few minutes later, he is back with two cones of ice-cream. He hands one over to me, and I take a long delightful lick.
"Chocolate chip?", I ask, and he nods with a smile.
"Only the best for my girl"
"What flavor did you get?", I ask as he brushes the hair away from my face and takes a seat beside me.
"Cookie dough", he says. "Want to taste?"
I nod and he brings the ice-cream closer to my mouth, allowing me a lick. I take two, savoring the flavor, before I take another lick.
"Hey, that's enough", he says quickly taking it away from me. "You have yours, so let me lick mine", and with that, he takes a lick from the exact spot I licked from.
I feel my cheeks heating up, and he looks at me, cocking his head to one side.
"You licked the same side as ice-cream as me, so technically, it's an indirect kiss.", I say and he laughs.
"Well, I'm sure I can provide you with much better than an indirect kiss", he says, and before I can answer, he leans forward and his lips gently brush against mine.
The kiss is short, simple and sweet, and it is over before I can get too nervous about it.
"Go on, eat up", he says as he reclines back, and if not for the faint taste of cookie dough on my lips, I would have sworn that I imagined it.
We both lick our ice-creams in silence, but it is the comfortable type of silence, not the type of silence that I have been facing for the past few weeks. This is a good silence.
Soon, we are done with our ice-cream, and just as I am about to suggest we go and try out the new video game, Aaron's phone pings.
As soon as he checks it, his face falls.
"Parents?", I ask him, and he nods.
"They just texted Caleb that they will be back in about an hour, so I need to make it back before them."
"Why?", I ask.
Aaron suddenly looks very sheepish and seems to become interested in the floor. "I'm actually kind of grounded", he sort of mumbles under his breath.
There is silence at that, and he peeks up at me from under his brown hair.
"Wait a minute", the shock of it all is stunning to me. "You, Aaron Delany, the good boy of Meadowbrook High, went out on a date even though you're grounded?"
Aaron groans. "I know it was a bad idea, but I wanted to spend time with you so I just..."
But that's as far as he gets before, I place my lips on his. I feel his smile against my lips and I can't help but smile too.
"You are a rulebreaker Aaron" I say as I pull away from him. "I knew I could turn you into a bad boy".
He laughs and I join him. Aaron isn't exactly a bad boy, but at least now he isn't so strict about rules.
As we get into the car and I begin to drive, he gives a little smirk.
"What is it?", I ask, interested to know his thoughts.
"Well, since I'm a rulebreaker now, that means that you can't call me rulebook anymore", he says proudly, and I have to giggle at his childish tone.
"You can't be a bad boy Aaron. Someone needs to keep me in check. Besides", I add with a little wink, taking my eyes off the road to run my fingers through his hair. "I kind of like good boys"
Aaron goes red, and I turn my eyes back to the road. At that moment, we pass the tattoo shop, and I tell Aaron that I've been considering getting a new tattoo. His next words shock me.
"I've also been considering getting one – a tattoo I mean."
If not for the fact that I was driving, I would have turned around in shock. As it was, I almost made us hit a curb.
"Hey calm down Kay", he says, but I don't focus on that.
"You want a tattoo?", I ask, unable to imagine sweet serious Aaron with any ink marks on his skin.
"I've been considering it", he says. My eyes are glued to the road so I can't see his expression, and I'm not sure I want to. Does he want a tattoo to impress me?
"Aaron, you need to think carefully about it okay? I don't want you to get a tattoo because you are rebelling against your parents or anything. Tattoos are a life sentence."
"You sound like a parent", he teases, and I smile against my will.
For the rest of the drive, we keep our tones light, and by the time that I arrive at his house, we are in fits of laughter as I describe one of the pranks I played on our teacher. Luckily, his parents aren't home yet, so there is just enough time to get him inside, and get myself out.
"Oh by the way", I say as Aaron climbs out of the car. "When is your football match again – you know, the one with the scouts and everything"
"It's on Friday", Aaron says looking sad. "But it might be my last match. My parents have officially banned me from football, so after this match, I have to resign. I wonder if there is any point in playing since there is no future for me in football."
I see the sadness in his eyes, and I know how sad he feels. I remember how bad I felt when I was unable to do my artwork – that's how he looks now.
"Don't worry Aaron. I don't think your parents can do anything to stop you from playing". I give him a wink. "Trust me, play your best at the game on Friday"
And before I can ruin the surprise I have planned, I drive off, blowing him a kiss.
A/N: We are coming closer and closer to the ending. What surprise do you think Kayla has in store for Aaron?
