Diana Padmore, had had the best years of her life, she barely saw or talked to her former family, and she found a passion for Charms along with Lara Chang, but her favorite class was Astronomy she loved to learn about the sky and outer space, her parents had given her a bunch of muggle books on the subject, they said that Astronomy was the one subject at Hogwarts that was almost identical to its muggle counterpart, of course humans had to build giant telescopes to even come close to what wizards could do with a normal telescope and an augmentavista spell, but they had ways of constantly monitoring the skies even in daylight, they wanted to see and explore, not so long ago they had reached to put a person on the moon, the first magical person on the moon had been a witch named Artemis Diana in Greece a long time ago, muggles had named her a goddess, but in reality she was just a hunter witch with a talent for Astronomy who thought there were a bunch of wolves in the moon.

Maybe the Carrows knew something when they named her after her, or maybe they were thinking of the hunter side more than the astronomy side. The wizarding world had stop caring about outer space a long time ago, they mined the moon sometimes to get moon dust and moon rocks for potions. But Diana wanted to go beyond that, she wanted to explore the universe, maybe there was more life out there, muggles searched for the possibility of extraterrestrial life and she wanted to do the same, she was sure muggle technology enhanced by magic could find life outside of earth.

Diana's fourth year she and Lara had chosen magical theory as an elective, they were just fourth years, but their great talent for charms landed them a spot on the class. their first class was about emotional magic, the first kind of magic wizards performed in their life, they then touched briefly on Love, one of the most mysterious and powerful emotions, it was said that magic performed out of a strong feeling of love, towards a friend, a relative or special someone(this last one generated quite a reaction amongst the students most of them sixth and seventh years) could entail untold miracles, some even said muggles could perform magic if powered by very strong love, only one wizard in the entire world had been an expert on love magic and performed it constantly, he had been so powerful that he broke both muggle and wizard history in half, Jesus of Nazareth, some muggles saw him as the son of God, some wizards did too, as they said only the son of something as powerful as a deity could hold enough power and love to perform the miracles he did, that even for wizard standards were quite impossible, gifting ordinary muggles with magic at an adult age, curing illnesses with just a single touch, raising people back from the dead, and perform a sacrifice that would keep all humans safe from dangerous and dark forces that in modern times one could only imagine. Love magic was barely performed these days, as wizards had grown costumed to use normal neutral magic, or dark magic if they were like her old family, as aparently Love Magic was really hard to do.

Diana found the class fun but Sturgis was absolutely enchanted by it, the mysteries of emotional magic were clearly his element not so much for Diana, she liked Astronomy better, but just like with Astronomy Diana had already come up with ways to take the topic further, to harness love magic to better the world, but that seemed more impossible than the alien theory.

She sat in Astronomy class, this year they shared the class with Griffindor, so Diana sat with Lara Chang and Lily Evans as professor Aurora made her way infront of the student with lumos coming out of her wand.

"Good night class hoped you've had an amazing day and will have a good day tomorrow" the professor said

On the back, James could be heard saying, "I only like this class because we can stay up till midnight, perfect time for pranks" the three girls rolled their eyes as they payed attention to Professor Aurora

"Today is going to be a different class, normally we spot the little points glowing in the dark and how they move across the cosmos, but today we're going to study light itself, a magnificent natural phenomenon, that allows us to see the world with our eyes, light is a pretty powerful thing so we must be careful, is so powerful that muggles have found a way to harness it as their own form of magic, because of this I've set you into pairs so that no one ends up burned, or blind hopefully I would I hate for any of you to go to the infirmary tonight" she said

"YOU set up the pairs?!?" James Potter said.

"Yes Mr Potter and if you're so curious, I'll tell you your pair first, you'll be working with Ms Evans" Aurora said

James stayed silent and then a wicked grin appeared across his face.

Oh, no, Diana knew who would burn themselves, James and Lily were both bright wizards and surely together they could make something wonderful, but James was too arrogant and problematic, and Lily herself could be loud and fiery, it didn't help that Lily couldn't stand the sight of the guy for his constant bullying of her friend Severus. Diana looked over to Lily who put a kill me now please face.

"To continue the pairs, Ms Chang will work with Mr Pettigrew, Ms Padmore will be working with Mr Black, Ms Leidell will be working with Mr Walsh..."

The pairs continued to be called, as the ones that already have sat up together, Diana saw Lily looking at James with a fiery angry face, as she went to sit with Sirius.

"Long time no see Diana" said Sirius

"I would say the same, seems like without me you seem to get into even more trouble than your fellow friends" Diana answered

"If you want to talk to me about the incident with sn Severus last year, I was not thinking straight, this year I have my attention elsewhere" Sirius answered.

"where could that elsewhere be?" Diana asked.

"not anywhere worth talking about in Astronomy class" he answered as Professor Sinistra began lecturing

" Now on your desks there will appear stands with prisms on them, one of you will shine Lumos onto your prism while the other holds a piece of parchment on the oposite side where a arrange of the colors of the rainbow, when it does that person will cast the spell selecta iris."

Everyone looked with attention as Professor Aurora called Remus Lupin to help with the demonstration. Lupin cast a lumos spell next to the prism reflecting a band of colors on the parchment, when the professor casted the spell, and a set of words appeared on the parchment

"Every material in the universe produces different waves of light, like a code, even wand cores, when burned or used for a lumos incantation if they are magical, this is important to learn in order to understand the cosmos, even muggles have figured it out, but we have a spell that helps us identify the object that produces the light, muggles need machines in order to arrive at an answer. This method has been used to, study stars and their composition along with planets and moons, which is what we will study this year and will be on your O.W.Ls next year so be ready, now, lets talk about the intensity of light and the distance, and how they have helped wizards and muggles track the trajectory of the celestial bodies, tracking spells don't have that far away distance reach so we had to use the muggle way of tracking stars, with some magic help in order to record the position of the stars"

"well those rainbows were really pretty, Ms Padmore" Sirius said.

"Sirius we are learning about light and the vastness of the universe, can you just admire that a little bit" Diana said.

"you really love this class, don't you" Sirius said

"yes I do, and you weren't in my magical theory class, we talked about emotions and love" Diana

"you're taking magical theory in your 4th year?" Sirius asked.

"I'm a prodigy at charms, so they let me take it" she said

"It's ok that you take it because for me it sounds pretty boring" Sirius said

Diana looked to the side to see how Lily was doing working with James, suprisingly nothing had burned yet but Lily was clearly focusing on the task at hand trying to ignore every attempt at casual conversation by James. Then she turned around to look at Lara, she was clearly annoyed by Peter even more than Lily was by James, Diana didn't think it was possible.

As Lily, Diana and Lara exited the class they were really tired

"those boys are the worst, like the acual worse specially Peter, how con anyone hang around him? even James and the others, that kid is disgusting like a rat, eeww" Lara said

"was it really that bad with Peter I mean I don't fully enjoy Sirius's company but we have an undertanding, because of those stupid playdates when we were kids" Diana said.

"James was something, he try to talk all the time about something, Quidditch, Charms, constelations, motorcycles, eventually he gave up before burning anything" Lily said

"what are motorcycles?" Lara asked.

"they are a muggle vehicle that has two wheels and works by how do I explain this?... burning a black liquid called gasoline, muggles basically burn things in order to get energy as they don't have access to magic" Diana explained

"for a pureblood that has only been living with a halfblood family for a couple of years you know a lot  about muggle science" Lily said.

"it is fascinating, on hollidays I read all kinds of books on it, and watch a few nature programmes that they air on television" Diana said

"Only you find that fascinating, like even muggles themselves like my sister don't find it fascinating... Now tell me everything about magical theory, I would love to take that class" Lily said.
