Introduction
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak thats wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.
- 'Still I Rise', by Maya Angelou
This is the verse that inspired me to compose this duet, such is it's strength and power. Being a victim of psychological depression myself, I wanted to reach out to people who feel outraged on being treated unjustly by worthless creatures who simply like to think they own the world. People who are shamed and hated for no fault of theirs. I don't attempt to give them a shoulder to cry on, but a pull to get them to their feet.
Now don't get me wrong. This isn't just a feminist movement. This is a protest against tyranny, injustice and insult. If I can write, why not use it to fight?
Always remember that you are strugglers of the past , heroes of the present and pillars of the future.
