Exponent
A/N: Our legendary epic Mahabharata carries soul-touching messages, this being one of them. The spirit of the lake asked Arjuna, the wisest of the five Pandava brothers, "What is the one thing when man loses which makes him happy?" He brilliantly replied, "Greed. Greed upon being lost makes a man happy". Hence greed, my friends, is exponential. That's why this poem has been titled "Exponent", as it shows the exponential nature of possession, the more you have the more you need.
Scriptures of greed unfulfilled
Riches, a curse uncouth
Leaving behind humanity and progress
Riches, the love of youth
No dearth of happiness and joy
Replete with a full square meal
But when the lust of possession ascends the throne
We cheat, we swindle, we steal
They tell us to chase and catch our dreams
But they dig for silver and gold
They squander the flame of passion in us
"You need good money" we were told
Money pastes a smile on our faces
It lets us write and read
But even the healthiest paycheck ain't enough
For the more we get, all the more we need
