Dinosaurs on a Spaceship

A quick note before this starts to anyone interested: I now have a cover shop! If you haven't noticed this book (and a few of my other books) recently got fancy new covers all created by me! I've been working on my skills and am now comfortable enough to make (if I say so myself) very good covers! If anyone is interested in a cover head over to the book on my profile and request a cover, I really got nothing else to do during lockdown.

The next few chapters were so fun to make, Jenny is most likely my favourite this episode, you'll see why!

We get an overprotective daughter, the Doctor realises he isn't the best pilot and of course Brian learns thing or two about Amy.

Dinosaurs on a spaceship anyone?

-----

The Doctor quickly headed to the TARDIS. Oh my wife is going to kill me. "Bye, then." The Doctor went to open the door. "Lovely meeting you. Sorry about the mess." Nefertiti the Egyptian queen who was following the Doctor grabbed the Time Lord and spun him around, trapping him between her and the TARDIS.

"I would get off him if you know what's good for you," Jenny warned appearing from behind the TARDIS. "Trust me or my mother won't be happy with you.

Oh dear... the Doctor swallowed hard. He didn't know who scared him more. Queen Nefertiti or his own daughter that could give a very good Stone-like death stare given who she was.

"This has nothing to do with you child." The Egyptian queen shot the blonde an annoyed look before smiling at the Doctor and stroking part of his hair, not noticed him try and press himself even more into the TARDIS. "You think I'll just let you leave without me? After what we've just been through?"

"I warned you." Jenny remarked before grabbing the woman and forcing her arm that stroked the Doctors hair behind her back, pulling her away from the Time Lord. The woman cried out in pain and the Doctor blinked, he actually forgot that she could do that. Well, there gives me more of a reason for my daughter to terrify me...

The Stone poked her head out of the TARDIS having heard the shout. "What's going-" she stopped herself as her eyes glanced down at the ground, the young woman behind the Egyptian queen, her arm in a rather painful position, the Doctors eyes were wide in shock as he continued being pressed up against one of the doors of the TARDIS. "Ah." She smirked. "Well done Jenny." Nefertiti winced again. The Doctor shot the Stone a disapproving look. "Oh okay." The Stone sighed before looking at her daughter. "You can let her go now."

The blonde Time Lady did as her mother said and watched with a grin when the Egyptian queen fell to the floor. "You're very good." She nodded at the blonde after standing up. "Well done."

"Thanks." Jenny proudly smiled and walked into the TARDIS, high fiving her mother as she walked passed.

The Stone frowned when the phone Amy had given her beeped. "Well, that is interesting." The Doctor said looking over the Stones shoulder. "Temporal News For You."

"What is?" Nefertiti asked.

"Nothing," the Doctor denied, "not interesting. Not at all." He then grinned looking at the phone. "Ooo, never been there dear."

"Go tell Jenny." The Time Lady grinned handing him the phone so he could set the coordinates into the console.

"Brilliant!" He beamed quickly heading inside.

Nefertiti quietly attempted to walk away without being noticed. "Oi." The Stone called stopping the woman. "You can come if you want."

"What." She blinked.

"You can come." The Time Lady pointed to the TARDIS. "You seem interested." The woman frowned at her. The Stone didn't let her reply and dragged the woman inside.

---

The Time Lords, along with Nefertiti stood in the Indian space agency talking to Indira, the Doctor and the Stone looking at the information on the screen. Jenny currently was staring at Nefertiti, giving the Egyptian queen death stares. She really didn't understand why her parents let that woman come with them after what she tried to do to the Doctor. "Craft size approximately ten million square kilometers," Indira informed.

"A ship the size of Canada coming at Earth very fast." The Doctor said with his arms crossed, he looked at an image of the ship when it popped up on the screen. "Any signs of life?"

"We sent up a drone craft. It took these readings." More data appeared, the Stone frowned scanning it all.

"Crikey, Charlie." The Doctor whistled.

"Crikey, Charlie?" The Stone said to Jenny who just shrugged still looking at Nefertiti.

"Look at that. Ooo, I know someone who'd love to have a look at that. And the Ponds." He grinned. "Mustn't forget the Ponds. Haven't seen them in ages. I'm riffing. People usually stop me when I'm riffing or carry on without me. That's also an option."

The Stone rolled her eyes and patted his shoulder. "I think that's enough 'riffing' for now sweetheart."

"See." The Doctor pointed at her. "She stopped me."

"Can you communicate with this craft?" Nefertiti asked.

"She's with us." The Doctor nodded at the Queen. "Good question, Neffy."

"No. No response on any channel, in any recognised language."

Jenny blew out an annoyed sigh, gaining The Stones attention. "Jenny?"

"Why did she have to come?" The blonde asked.

The Time Lady smiled slightly and patted the blonde's shoulder. "Because Nefertiti and I are actually good friends somewhere in her future, she doesn't know that yet  I guess this is where our friendship starts."

"But what she did-"

"Is unacceptable yes," the ginger nodded in agreement, "but you made that clear when you stopped her. Trust me, Jen, she won't be going near the Doctor again, otherwise, she'll have me to deal with."

"If it comes within ten thousand kilometers of Earth, we send up missiles," Indira explained aloud.

"Oh, Indira, I liked you before you said missiles." The Doctor sighed. "How long till the ship gets that close?"

"Six hours nineteen minutes."

"Right." The Doctor clapped his hands together and linked an arm with the Stones. "Better get a shift on, then. Leave it with us." He headed for the TARDIS. "Come on, Jen, Neffy. We're going to need help."

---

The Doctor and the Stone sat on a log near a tent and a fire in the African Plains, John Riddell sat on the other side of the log from the Time Lords eating stew out of a bowl.
"More stew?" The Doctor raised a brow.

"Where've you been, man?" Riddell asked. "Seven months. You said you were popping out for some liquorice. I had two very disappointed dancers on my hands." He smirked a little. "Not that I couldn't manage."

The Doctor opened his mouth to protest, his eyes glancing at the Stone who raised a brow in question to him, waiting for a response. "Well..." he started. "I'm married."

"Nice save sweetheart." The Stone chuckled at him before she held her hand out to Riddell. "The Stone, please don't flirt, the Doctor'll get jealous and cross and that'll just end up making me annoyed because he will get all pouty." She smiled.

The man blinked and slowly shook her hand. "Right..."

"At least that's settled." She nodded. "Now Riddell, we've found something."

Riddell laughed. "No, no, no, no, no. I shan't fall for that again." The Doctor glanced at him for a moment. Riddell then leaned towards them. "What is it? "

"We have no idea." The Doctor answered. "Do you want to find out?"

---

Rory sighed really wishing his dad would just change the light bulb. Brian had been standing on the small ladder for a good five minutes now while his son and Amy kept the wooden ladder steady. "I think it's the fitting." Brian informed Rory, lightly shaking the old bulb in his hand.

"Dad, it's not the fitting." Rory shook his head. "It just needs a new bulb."

"You're wobbling the ladder." Brian accused. Rory stepped back holding out his hands in defence.

"I'm not."

"I don't want another loft incident." Brian reminded his son.

"How's my side, Brian?" Amy asked looking up at him.

"Perfect, as ever, Amy."

The ginger nodded giving the man a small salute. "Thank you, Brian." Rory stared at his wife for a moment.

"I don't know what he said to you to make you marry him, but he's a lucky man."

A soft wheezing sound began to echo in the room and a gentle breeze blew through, papers began to fly around in a scatter. "Not here," Rory muttered to Amy whose eyes widened, "not now."

"You leave the back door open?" Brian asked.

"What is he doing?" Rory gritted his teeth.

Amy shook her head just as the TARDIS completely materialised around them. "I'm going to kill him, the Stone wouldn't do this to us and I don't think they taught Jenny yet."

"Hello!" The Doctor cheered moving around the console. The Stone pinched the bridge of her nose, sitting down with Jenny who rubbed her mothers back in comfort.

"Why can't my husband just park outside?" She asked throwing her head back with a groan having noticed the extra passenger onboard the TARDIS.

"You weren't busy, were you?" The Doctor asked waving a hand. "Well, even if you were, it wasn't as interesting as this probably is. Didn't want you to miss it. Now, just a quick hop." He pulled another lever. Amy and Rory helplessly stared around, thankful that the TARDIS didn't shake violently. The Time Lord nodded when they landed, "Everybody grab a torch."

Smash a bulb broke.

"Oh dear..." the Stone muttered standing up.

The Doctor headed out the TARDIS first followed by the Stone, Jenny and then the Ponds followed by their extra passenger. "Spiders," The Doctor shone his torch at the web, Jenny watched over his shoulder, "Don't normally get spiders in space."

"What the?" Brian said shocked. The Doctor straightened and stepped in front of Jenny,  "Don't move!" The Time Lord ordered and then marched over to the man, shining his torch in his face, "do you really think I'm that stupid I wouldn't notice? How did you get aboard, eh? Transmat? Who sent you?"

"Doctor." Rory walked over. "That's my dad."

"Well frankly, that's outrageous." The Doctor looked at him slightly annoyed.

"What?"

"You think you can just bring your dad along without asking? I'm not a taxi service, I already have Jenny for that."

"Hey!" The blonde grumbled.

"It's true though." He shot back.

"No, it isn't." The Stone shot him a look.

"Yes dear, you're right." He instantly replied. Jenny sniggered at them.

"But, you materialised around us," Rory informed.

"Did I?" He glanced at his wife.

"Yeah, you did." She nodded. "This is why I mostly drive, sweetheart."

"Oh. Well, that's fine, then." He waved Rory off. "My mistake. Hello, Brian. How are you? Nice to meet you." He shook his hand. The man just allowing him as he stood there confused with what was going on. "Welcome, welcome. This is the gang." He waved a hand to everyone I've got a gang-"

"No you don't." The Stone cut in.

"I don't have a gang." He corrected and spun around to Brian again. "Come on then, everyone."

Jenny giggled at her father. "You control him like a ball on a string."

"The things he would do for love." The Time Lady replied in a chuckle. "He knows my word will always win against his so he just agrees with me."

"Very wise." Jenny nodded. "I wouldn't want to be on the other end of one of your death stares."

"And for your sake, I hope you never are, Jen." The Stone smiled. Jenny then ran ahead to catch up with her father. The Stone sighed and glanced back at Rory who stood with Brian. The man looked terrified. Bloody hell Doctor

"Tell him something, quick," Amy said to Rory, nervously smiling at Brian.

"Yes, thank you!"

"I'm not entirely sure what's going on." Brian eyed his son.

Rory opened his mouth to try and explain but a certain ginger Time Lady beat him to it. Slowly walking over to them as she did so. "Brian when Amy and Rory got married where did they go traveling?"

"Thailand."

"I'm sorry but that's wrong." The Stone shook her head. "This might be hard to understand but they went traveling through space and time in that very police box." Brian blinked as the ginger pointed at the blue box. "It's bigger on the inside and alien. Yes," she sighed, "I'm alien and so is my husband, the Doctor, and our daughter, Jenny, the blonde."

"Okay..." he slowly replied. The ship then slightly shook.

"All right, where are we? " Amy asked the Doctor. "What is that noise and hello, ten months?"

"Well, I sense it's orbiting." The Doctor replied.

"More like pre-crashing." Jenny corrected.

"We're on a spaceship and I don't know, and hello, Pond." He grinned hugging her. "Ten months. Time flies. Never really understood that phrase." He muttered frowning. The Doctor then gestured to the woman wearing an Egyptian outfit and the man wearing the safari clothes. "This is Neffy, this is Riddell. They're with us." He pointed to himself, Jenny and the Stone.

"Charmed." Riddell nodded.

"With you?" Amy frowned. "They're with you? Are they the new us? Is that why we haven't seen you?"

"No. They're just people." The Doctor shook his head as the Stone frowned. "They're not Ponds. I thought we might need a new not-gang. Not really had a not-gang before. It's new."

"Sweetheart, are you just putting the word 'not' in front of 'gang' so I won't remind you that we're not a gang?"

"Definitely not dear." Jenny giggled again.

The blonde giggles quietened when red lights started to blare on both sides of a large bulkhead door. The group stopped their strolling. "It's coming down." The Doctor muttered his eyes fixed on the door doing just as he said.

"What is it?" Riddell asked,

"No idea." He watched as the door finished opening with a thump and the silhouette of two very large creatures appeared behind it. Clearly in the shapes of dinosaurs.

Their eyes widened while Brians eyes practically popped out of his head. "Not possible."

The Doctor smiled slightly and weakly told the others. "Run."

They all took off, well all of them except the Doctor who was still where he was two seconds ago, staring at the dinosaurs. "Dad!" Jenny huffed.

"I know." He beamed. "Dinosaurs! On a spaceship!"

"Dinosaurs that are about to eat us, on a spaceship." The blonde cut in grabbing his hand and pulling him away before the ankylosaurs could make him their lunch.

"In here!" Nefertiti shouted running into an alcove. The others followed and stood with their backs against the wall, attempting to take in fast, quiet breaths.

"I could take one of them," Riddell suggested pulling out a pocket knife, "short blow up into the throat."

"Violence doesn't solve everything." Jenny shook her head. "Mum and Dad taught me that." She smiled at them. The Doctor beamed proudly. She was a different woman than when she came out of that machine.

"Says the blonde who had me on the floor." Nefertiti shot her a look.

"Violence solved that problem." She replied smirking a little.

The Doctor huffed. "I'm not getting in the middle of your argument but Jenny is right, we've just found dinosaurs in space. We need to preserve them."

"Who's going to preserve us?" Riddell asked.

"Shush." Amy hushed them. The Dinosaurs then walked off.

Rory looked at the Stone. "Okay, so, how and whose ship?"

"No idea."

"Let's go and find out." The Doctor grinned. "On the plus side, there's so much to discover. Think how wise we'll be by the end of all this." He walked towards a blank monitor with the Stone.

"Sorry, sorry. Are you saying dinosaurs are flying a spaceship?"

The Stone forced back a laugh threatening to escape her throat. "Brian, please, that would be ridiculous." The Doctor answered. "They're probably just passengers. Did I mention missiles?"

"Missiles?" He repeated looking slightly pale.

"Didn't want to worry you," he said wincing a little, "anyway, six hours is a lifetime. Not literally a lifetime. That's what we're trying to avoid. And we're all really clever. Ooo, let's see what we can find out." He wiped a couple of cobwebs from the monitor. "Come on."

"How many dinosaurs do you think are on here?" Amy asked Jenny who shrugged a little in reply.

"There could be hardly any to hundreds."

The Stone flashed her sonic at the monitor which lit up making the Time Lords grin. "Oh, well done, whoever you are." He muttered looking at the screen. "Looking for engines." An image of the data from the engines lit up. "Thank you, computer. Look at that. Different sections have engines, but these look like the primary clusters." The Doctor pointed at the screen. "Where are we now, computer? We need to get down to these engines."

The Doctor, Stone with Rory and Brian suddenly disappeared. "What happened?" Nefertiti asked seeing the four no longer at the monitor.

"Oh, great." Amy groaned.

"Oh." Jenny blinked seeing her parents had disappeared. "Mum? Dad?"

---

They reappeared on what looked like a beach on a cold grey day, the wind lightly blew and the Stone sighed seeing what had happened.

"Find out-" the Doctor blinked. "What?"

"We're outside." Brian noticed. "We're on a beach."

"Teleport." He groaned. "Oh, I hate teleports. Must have activated on my voice."

"Didn't you like teleports when we were with the Daleks?"

"They saved you and Jenny, anything that saves you two I like."

"You're adorable." The Stone chuckled.

"So are you but as much as I would love to flirt with you all day I don't think it is the time, dear."

Brian huffed wondering why they were staring at each other. The Doctor blinked and looked at the man. "Ah, yes, well, thank you, Arthur C Clarke." He spat. "Teleport, obviously. I mean, we're on a spaceship with dinosaurs. Why wouldn't there be a teleport? In fact, why don't we just teleport now?" He threw his arms around and turned, walking away.

The Doctor frowned. "Is he all right?" He asked Rory.

"No, he hates traveling. Makes him really anxious." Rory explained. "He only goes to the paper shop and golf."

"What did you bring him for?"

"He didn't." The Stone reminded. "Honestly Sweetheart I understand that you like to drive on your own sometimes, but if you want to continue driving on your own just park us outside their house."

"Yes dear,"

Rory grumbled, "Why can't you just phone ahead like any normal person?"

The Stone snorted. "With who we are Rory that isn't possible."

"Somebody tell me where we are, now." Brian ordered.

The Doctor stuck his tongue out to taste the air. "Well, it's not Earth." He replied grimacing a little. "Doesn't taste right. Too metallic."

"Is that a kestrel?" He asked seeing something flying in the sky,

The Time Lord turned to him. "I do hope so."

The Stone jumped lightly and Rory frowned noticing patches of wet sand were rippling. "The beach is humming."

"Is it?" The Doctor asked and saw the Stone shrug. "Oh yes. Right, well, don't just stand there, you two. Dig." He pointed at the humans, "I'm going to look at rocks." He wiped his hands together and smirked at the Time Lady. "Love a rock."

The Stone snorted following him. "I'm not sure if you meant to say that the way you did but I thoroughly enjoyed it, sweetheart."

The Doctor winked at her. "Love a rock, love a Stone."

The Stone chuckled shaking her head making the Time Lord smirk grow.

"What sort of man doesn't carry a trowel?" They heard Brian ask Rory as the Doctor stood on a large rock. "Put it on your Christmas list."

"Dad, I'm thirty-one." Rory gave him a look that clearly had 'really?' Written all over it. "I don't have a Christmas list anymore."

The Doctor spun around to them and raised his hands in the air shouting at the top of his lungs. "I do!"

The Stone sighed and shook her head. "Honestly it's like living with a child."

"Hey!" The Doctor pouted. "We're the same age."

"But do we act the same age?" She questioned, crossing her arms.

"No." He grumbled.

The humans stared at him for a moment before Brian continued to dig and then reach a metal floor. "There's a floor under this beach." He stated looking at his son.

"Doctor!" Rory shouted trying to get his attention. "Doctor!"

---

Jenny shook her head as they walked. "There's still no reply..." "Come on dad."

"They're okay." Amy smiled reassuringly. "This is your parents we're talking about."

"What are you two going on about?" Riddell asked as they walked through the ship, Nefertiti leading the way.

"My parents are telepathic and so am I but I can't hear 'em."

"Strange child," Riddell muttered.

"Hey!" She narrowed her eyes. "My parents are not strange!"

Amy also narrowed her eyes at him. "I would stop before I tell them both what you said when they get back."

The man was silent before he spoke up again. "There's clearly more than just two of these creatures." He pulled out a flask.

"Hey, put that away." Amy grabbed the bottle before he drank it. "We need you sober."

"It's medicinal." He protested. "And I don't take orders from females."

Jenny narrowed her eyes again about to snap at him. Nefertiti cut in. "Then learn. Any man who speaks to me that way, I execute."

"You're very welcome to try." The blonde smirked at the Egyptian Queen who smiled at her. Perhaps she wasn't as bad as she thought?

"Sorry." Amy looked at Nefertiti. "what was your name again?"

"Lady of the Two Lands, wife of the great King Amenhotep, Queen Nefertiti of Egypt."

"I'll be damned." Riddell commented.

"Oh, my god." Amy gasped staring at her. "Queen Nefertiti? I learned all about you at school. You're awesome. Big fan," she held up a hand, "high five." The Queen just stared at her. "Yeah, bit behind on that. You're really famous."

"Shush." Riddell silenced her. "Listen." He held up a hand, they all fell as quiet as possible. The faint sound of quiet breaths was heard.

They swallowed hard when they all looked down and saw a small T-Rex lying on its side peacefully sleeping with eggshells around it and more nearby. "Okay. At a guess, T Rex, not yet full size." Amy whispered. "We're in the middle of a dinosaur nest."

"I propose a retreat." Riddell said and looked over his shoulder. A shadow that looked a lot like another dinosaur appeared on the wall.
"Perhaps forwards."

"Agreed." Amy nodded. "Just don't wake the baby."

Riddell stepped over the dinosaur, egg shells cracked beneath his feet and he wobbled slightly before gaining his balance. He smirked. "Oh, my god." Amy groaned as they walked away from the dinosaur. "Who are you, anyway?"

"John Riddell, big game hunter on the African plains. I'm sure you've heard of me, too."

Amy blinked at him. "No."

His face fell and Jenny giggled at them. "You clearly have some alarming gaps in your education."

"Or men who hunt defenseless creatures just don't impact on history. Face it, she's way cooler than you."

"And you, Amy." Nefertiti turned to her. "Are you also a Queen?"

"Yes." She slowly said. "Yes, I am."

The blonde snorted a laugh at that.

---

The Doctor pointed to another teleport he had found. "See? Metal floors, screens in rocks. It was just a matter of a short range teleport. We're still on the ship."

"No, we're outside on a beach." Brian protested.

"It's part of the ship, Dad."

"Don't be ridiculous."

"Well, it is quite ridiculous. Also brilliant." The Doctor grinned. "That's why the system teleported us here. I wanted the engines. This is the engine room!" He exclaimed. "Hydrogenerators. Ha!"

Brian turned to his son. "I have literally no idea what he's saying."

"A spaceship powered by waves."

"Fabulously impossible." He continued. "Oh, think of the things we could learn from this ship if we manage to stop it being blown to pieces."

"Plus not dying."

"Bad news, boys." The Stone shook her head. "We can't shut the wave system down in time. Takes way too long."

"If these are the engines, there must be a control room."

"Exactly." The Doctor nodded. "That's what we need to find. Now, what do we do about the things that aren't kestrals?" They slowly turned to the birds that weren't exactly birds.

"Oh my lord." Brians eyes widened. "Are those pterodactyls?"

"Yes. On any other occasion, I'd be thrilled." He winced slightly slowly moving backwards. "Exposed on a beach with my wife, our daughter somewhere else on the ship with the Queen of Egypt, a man who shoots animals and a Scottish redhead that will be very angry if her husband is eaten by dinosaurs... I'm less thrilled. We should be going."

"Where?"

"Anywhere." The Stone answered.

"That's the plan?"

"That's the plan." Both the Time Lords replied. "Amendments welcome. Move away from the pterodactyls."

"I think they might be noticing." Rory muttered seeing that the dinosaurs were in fact getting closer.

"Amendment one, run!" The Doctor shouted grabbing the Stones hand.

"Why don't we just teleport or something?" Brian asked, running with the Time Lords and his son.

"No! Local teleport burnt out on arrival." He replied then spotted a small cave. "There's something in the cliffs over there."

"Come on!" Rory shouted.

"I'm trying!"

The pterodactyls started to snap at them. The Doctor and the Stone picked up speed, ducking their heads just as Rory and Brian did the same.

They ran into the cave and Rory rubbed his arm

"Are you all right?" Brian asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine." He nodded while the Doctor quickly hugged the Stone. "Right, what do we do now? There's no way back out there."

"Through the cave." The Time Lady answered. "Come on." There was then a loud noise ahead of them.

"I think that, that suggestion was a work in progress. Dear?"

"Yes." The Time Lady swallowed hard. "I believe it was."

"We're trapped." Brian said.

"Yes, thanks for spelling it out."

"Stone, whatever's down there is coming this way."

"I didn't notice, Rory, thank you." The Stone replied backing up into the Doctor who grabbed her hand as tightly as possible.

"That sound's getting nearer."

They stared as the sounds made the floor slightly vibrate before it stopped and two robotic figures was facing them.

"We're very cross with you two." The first robot said making the Doctor slightly smile.
